Best food and service. Always a family favourite. Great attention to dietary requirements
Great food but a little too tightly seated on Sunday lunch. Didn’t get to properly relax until it cleared out a little.
My husband and I went for a delicious Saturday night dinner at Epocha and we were not disappointed.
The restaurant ambience was wonderful. Not too many tables in the restaurant and not too noisy on a very full Saturday night.
The food was incredible (we went for the 7 course degustation) and when paired with the matching wines, we were really treated! We opted for the additional caviar and truffle too which was a real luxury.
Staff were really friendly and fun. Their female sommelier was very knowledgeable and gave great explanations about flavour and what to expect with and without the food. We got to try wine that we hadn't previously considered and the paring with the food was impeccable. The degustation menu was beautifully presented, very yummy and their Rum Baba was such a surprise to finish off the night! Epocha, thank you for a lovely evening. We will be back for more!!
We had a wonderful night and meal at Epocha. Went with some foodie adult children, tasted fab wines. The staff were v.accommodating of some various food preferences as well as sensitivities. Great for a special occasion when you have a bit of $ to spend.
Every thing is made by chefs including bread and butter
We had a superb meal - very high class cooking and beautifully presented.
Service was so delightful too.
We where disappointed that two items from the set menu where sold out
I dined there for roast sunday lunch with a big group. Epocha was really accomodating with all the changes in numbers and dietary requirements. i definitely look forward to dining there and would recommend to other friends.
My mate Mike and I were both celebrating our 73rd birthdays and hoping for many more. The joint was empty except for us, but our host Steve made our time eating good food a very pleasant one.
Epocha has a great ambience and the food is wonderful to share
Yet another wonderful dining experience at Epocha. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the set menu rather than the clever à la carte system they used to have. Fortunately for us, every single thing on the set menu was wonderful (the selection, the presentation of each selection and the taste of each selection) but I think for such a fine dining experience making it slightly limited is a little risky. As always, the service was first class: efficient, warm, friendly, helpful and never intrusive. The wine list is clever, comprehensive and well understood by the staff. As always the atmosphere and ambience is lovely.
Great lunch special and pasta! Enjoyed sitting outside on the balcony and great staff.
Amazing food and ambiance. Very intimate venue and great wait staff as well. Would recommend this for any big occasion.
Sunday lunch is great value in a lovely old terrace house with plenty of period features and well trained staff.
This was our first visit and we were impressed. Excellent service, gorgeous atmosphere and delicious food. The sommelier recommended an amazing bottle of wine which more than lived up to the expectation he had set. We will be back.
Our greeting was curt and sarcastic!
Initial waitress seemed irritated and preoccupied. Literally threw our (disappointing) food at us. Part of the set menu was sardines..... cold and congealed.... I requested a fresh plate... it returned microwaved and beyond hot??
Terrible meal. The lady matree de tried to appease with some delicious freshly cooked mushrooms.... I then noted we had been charged an extra $20 for the pacifier . Awful staff. Disappointing meal. Never again.
I thoroughly enjoyed my Epocha experience. The food was tasty and the portions were sufficient. Value was reasonable. The ambiance was perfect and was maintained by the hospitality of staff, rightly matched music and cozy, dimmed down lighting.
I did notice one waiter checking his mobile phone that he pulled from his pocket this evening which I found unprofessional for the class of this restaurant.
Nonetheless, I would come back and invite others to join me.
Epocha was absolutely fantastic. We asked for matching wines with our chefs share menu and the lady was passionate, knowledgeable and fun! What a great time my partner and I had. Thankyou so much for making our night special.
Really comfy space great food evan better service love the view of park sunday roast is great value for money and you don't worry about looking at a menu just have to pick your wine
Was lucky enough to have been to Epocha twice within a fortnight.... first time there was a magnificent experience but in comparison, the second visit was rather lack luster.... ordered the same shared tasting menu each visit but the second occasion was no where near the same calibre of food (varied selection) or wine and the service felt rushed and regrettably no where near as enjoyable.
Delightful ambiance on a dreary Melbourne day - food and service were terrific - which made up for the weather outside!
Fine dining experience without the arrogance, food and wine was amazing
Will definitely be back
We had our wedding at epocha and each time we have returned we have been welcomed back with open arms.
Highly recommend. Staff, food and wine are exceptional.
Will definitely be returning
A favorite since the doors opened and it continues to raise the bar and impress each and every time I go!
Amazing food, service and great wine list with an strong focus on southern med and Greek wines. Sunday roast set menu is unbelievable value.
The entrees were okay, but not memorable. The main courses (tuna and beef) were delicious. The desserts were underwhelming. The wine list was almost impossible to read, especially with the lights turned down.
My husband and I booked Epocha to celebrate it having been 1 month since our wedding. We wanted something classic, intimate and tasteful without being stuffy, and Epocha definitely delivered. The service was attentive without being obsequious, and the food was incredible - elegant and considered, with a distinct lack of Masterchef-esque flash, which I appreciated. Would definitely recommend the matched wines - the sommelier was a delight.
Excellent service, creative menu but very disappointed with the wine list. Second rate European wines and no Aussie selections. Greek wine? We did not choose this restaurant to drink Greek wine. Even Greeks do not drink Greek wine when they can avoid it.
The chicken for the main was generous in size. I would rather had a smaller portion of chicken and had more vegetables apart from the mushrooms that accompanied the chicken. Didn't like the fact that you had to order sizes as extra to get a range of flavours.
The food was good, it wasn't extraordinary but then we have been to restaurants which a much higher emphasis towards very fine dining, however, I would say anyone going here would really enjoy the food and it really is a quite nice setting. Unfortunately on the night we went it was quite a humid night and for some reason they didn't have any air conditioning going, just the door open so it was a little uncomfortable in the dinning area. They were very accomodating, we were stuck in traffic a late for our time but they made us feel welcome and even managed to give us the full tasting menu before we had to leave, so full praise for the staff.
On the night we found the Roasted duck fat potatoes to be the stand out of the night.
Our lunch at Epocha as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine festival was a memorable and wonderful experience. The dining room in the two storey terrace house was stunning, the service a lovely mix of professional, genuine and charming. As it was part of the festival the choice of dishes was limited to two entrees, two mains and one dessert. The entrees and mains were absolutely delicious, especially the potato gnocchi, and all were very generous serves. Sadly we couldn't fit in in the dessert but the coffee was excellent. I would highly recommend Epocha for lunch, dinner or a casual drink.
It's a beautiful tranquil room with attentive and thoughtful service. The food ideas were great, the produce was first class and it was beautifully cooked - the best gnocchi I gave had for years. My only criticism is the seasoning was a little lacking, so the full flavours didn't always punch through.
Amazing food, drinks and venue. Good music accompaniment. Seating outside was amazing
Enjoyed our dining experience , we would highly recommend this venue
It was perfect- booked for my wife’s birthday and it made the night. Amazing food, lovely ambience and charming service.
A friend and I had a fabulous lunch recently. The food was seriously good and the waiter was excellent. Would highly recommend Epocha and am looking forward to returning.
We were return patrons as we thoroughly enjoyed our previous visits, however last Friday has totally put us of returning again. We waited far to long for our food. The main share dishes were served one at a time with long intervals between. The food lacked seasoning with hot dishes served at warm temperature. Staff were obviously run off their feet as their attention was minimal and vague (dishes approached the table before plates and cutlery). 2 wine glasses removed before wine carafe was finished.
We had a very odd experience. After showing us to our table we waited 20 minutes for them to take our drink order. We ordered oysters only to be told ten minutes later they had run out. They did suggest a nice replacement dish. When it came to our mains they forgot one dish. When we mentioned it the waitress just said that was odd. 15 minutes after we finished the rest of our meal they brought out the missed dish. We ordered cheese from the trolley and then waited 20 minutes for it to be put on a plate. The food was great but the whole night felt disjointed and not what we would expect from a one hat restaurant.
It is a lovely restaurant!
We enjoyed Sunday Roast menu.
I will come back!
