Good vibe and good food
Amazing food and hospitality you can tell they LOVE what they do!
Delicious food. Too loud.
I've been a patron of this restaurant for more than 10 years. I've watched it grow from a humble treasure to a grabby aspirational hot spot. The menu, food, servers, decor, and ambiance have changed. A few years back they started hiring attractive hostesses and servers. Attractive and competent aren't the same thing. The food used to be more flavorful and generous. There's less variety of ingredients within the dishes now and they are smaller. Prices have nearly doubled. The environment is no longer quaint, it's flashy and social media obsessed. All of this is tolerable when you have a good experience. This time, unfortunately, we had a round of sour milk in our Thai iced-teas. We sent them back and received fresh ones. However, that evening all five of us experienced varying degrees of digestive upset ranging from nausea to being unable to leave the bathroom for hours. It was not due to spicy food either, we ate a level 4, normally it's a level 6 for us. All in all, it's sad. We used to love the place.
Love the UCLA curry dish! Generous servings, great flavors!
Best Thai food in Los Angeles, hands down! The classic dishes are authentic and the service is exceptional.
I love their food. They prepare it as spicy as I like it!
I had a reservation for two at 6:30. My girlfriend came in 5 minutes prior, I was 8 minutes late. There were maybe 5 tables occupied. The waitress avoided us for at least 10 minutes before bringing over menus and taking a drink order.she came back promptly to take our order. We ordered two dishes, pad Thai and curry. 30 minutes later we still don’t have food. We call her over to check on the food, she runs back to the kitchen and brings our dishes. We start tasting the food and it’s stone cold. We call her over again. She sticks her finger in the curry to check the temperature. Takes the plates back and emerges from the kitchen 5 minutes later with the same bowls she stuck her finger in. They were were microwaved to the point that the outside was crusty and dry. I was flabbergasted. I kindly explain to her that it’s not sanitary to do that. We get up to leave because at this point I’ve lost my appetite. She brings us the bill for our two iced teas and pretends like nothing is wrong. So no, I will not be going back.
The only Thai place to serve me food as spicy as I like it! Sooo good. You really will need a reservation, usually there is a wait for a table, and with good reason. The owner is very nice and personable, it’s wonderful that he carries on his mother’s legacy
Made a reservation for 4 through Opentable, they claimed I didn’t have a reservation because I didn’t call. I showed them the confirmation email at which point the hostess said “I’ll check” and ignored us for 15 minutes. Got lucky that a table cleared before we left. Food was fine, but nothing amazing. Pretty small seating area, not good for groups over 4
I dont know if I'd go back here again. the restaurant's wait staff are not that friendly except for the reception person. The food is nothing out of the ordinary. The Tom yum soup was pale and tasteless. The Pad Thai was way too sweet. I'll take my chance trying another Thai restaurant.
Food was excellent
The staff are really nice, and knowledgeable of the menu if you have questions or want suggestions. They also have a low corkage fee, which was nice for group of 4. I'm particular about where I get Thai food when I'm nowhere near NoHo, and this was a good choice.
Best family Thai Restaurant in Los Angeles!
Visiting from out of town and had wonderful Thai curry. Loved it
The restaurant offers the best Thai food in town, meeting the owner alone and his sincere graciousness is worth the visit.
Greeted by someone who assumed we were looking for the bathroom?!? Then when I pointed out that we had an Open Table reservation for four, she guided us to a table for two. Once we got that straightened out a server immediately came over and asked if we were ready to order? We had been sitting for less than one minute. We ordered a few minutes later and tow of our three apps came shortly after, dumplings and spring rolls which ok. The third app came, chicken in lettuce wrap, came ten minutes later after reminding the server. After a while two of our mains came. After a fairly long wait and reminders, one other main came. After another five or ten minutes, the final main came. Needless to say I would suggest you avoid.
very disappointing.Service was great, Food was very disappointing.Dumplngs were still cold and perhaps a bit frozen. nothing great or special.
We don’t get an opportunity to eat Thai very often and since we were enjoying the day in LA, we figured we would give it a try given most of the reviews we good. We enjoyed the food and the great service and hope to in the near future enjoy it again. I recommend this restaurant.
Emporium Thai rocks! Thai food at its best, sometimes a bit inconsistent (pad thai) but outstanding overall dishes (Tom Kha, Pad Woo Sen, Panang and asst'd curries). We enjoy the range and diverse offerings; flavors are authentic and servers are awesome, even if they get a little behind. Friendly, gracious, inviting hosts. . . .really like this place.
Love it. Every time we're there, we're happy. I'd rather order carryout from here and drive to get it than get delivery from a closer restaurant.
A group of us traveled to Emporium Thai Cuisine and enjoyed the Dine out LA menu along with other options. The rating scale for spicy/hot is from 1-8. I was the only one who ordered a 4 all other were a 3 or 1. The 4 was hot, and I greatly enjoy hot, but this was a bit too hot, next time I would order a 3 so that I could taste everything! Great wine list too!
Despite being full they only had one waitress on staff for part of the night. She also had to manage the phone for take-out orders. Everything was delicious, but the service was rather slow.
Made reservations on OpenTable and drove across town on a rainy night. When I got there was told that they don't honor open table reservations. So no table and my group was forced to find something else last minute. The staff clearly knows this is an ongoing issue and didn't care. You'd think someone would bother to cancel their account. Horrible experience. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.
One of the best Thai Restaurants I have visited. staff was delightful and food was very good.
I've been looking for a good, spicy Thai restaurant on the Westside and I've found it! It is operated by the same family that runs Jitlada, an exceptionally spicy, crowded Thai restaurant in Hollywood. The food here is also very flavorful and spicy and the service was very helpful in explaining the restaurant's specialties and the degree of spice that one should order (it is on a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of heat). I will definitely go there again!
Excellent food. Great value for money. Would definitely recommend.
Comfortable ambiance. Food was good with fresh ingredients but not especially inspired. Service was friendly if a bit slipshod - typical of restaurants in the area that use UCLA students. Overall, it's a good value and one of the few places in the area without deafening music and noise, so I'll be back.
Went with a group of four ladies, one of whom fears spiciness, so we ordered everything "medium". Taking into consideration that, therefore, everything needed to be spiced up, the food was excellent. We ordered four entrees, all of which were tasty and large. Nothing extraordinary, but definitely worth repeating. We also ordered two desserts, which everyone but me enjoyed - Thai doughnuts and mango sticky rice. Atmosphere is pleasant and only slightly too noisy; service was reasonably attentive and speedy. Parking was a bit of a problem, but we lucked out and found street spots.
Seriously really great Thai food here. The service is great and efficent. Would definitely recommend to friends looking for some delicious and affordable Thai food.
Great food. Recommend reserving on weekends.
Very casual but friendly staff and excellent food. Was there over the holidays with family
Food was FANTASTIC!!!!
Emporium Thai Cuisine is probably my favorite Thai restaurant in this area because you can tell they use high-quality ingredients and all their dishes have such great, bold flavors. This is the second time we've been there and we love it. It's a small intimate place that is big on flavor. The Thai Iced Tea is really good but the Thai Basil Chicken Pad Kra Pow was great. Everything is made-to-order and fresh and they aren't stingy with the amount of meat and veggies they add to dishes!
This is a wonderful little family-run restaurant. The food is excellent, much better than the standard student fare that you find in Westwood. Can't wait to return to experience more of the menu.
Thai Emporium is one of those restaurants where everything looks so good that you feel like you want to come back the next night and try another bunch of dishes. It is excellent Thai food. When we ordered the waitress made sure to let us know that space he was Thai spicy so we ordered everything on the mild side. I think next time we'll ask for it a bit spicier. We started with the green papaya salad which was awesome. For our main course we had the special curry chicken which is a recipe that has bee started with the green papaya salad which was awesome. For our main course we had the special curry chicken which is a recipe that has been in their family for many years. It was a coconut-based sauce that was extremely delicious. We also had green mussel soup which was delicious. The broth was unbelievably tasty and the mussels were good size and perfectly cooked. The only slightly disappointing dish, ironically, was the Pad Thai. I found the noodles to be a little bit mushy – maybe slightly overcooked. Very tasty though. I can't wait to go back and try some of their other dishes.
Rated as one of the top 100 Thai restaurants in the nation and the best Thai in Westwood. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the reputation. It was good but when you are expecting more, it is disappointing. The restaurant is small so you feel a bit cramped although the tables are far enough apart that you do not feel like you are right up beside your neighbor. The service was friendly and good.
Our main dish a whole fish (sea bass maybe) was very dry and overcooked.
This is one of those places that you see, but it takes a while to stop in. I'm glad we did. The food was really good and the service was friendly and attentive. We'll be going back.
