The view, food, service and general ambience was great; spoiled by serious LOUD noise and waiting staff reaching across us to hand plates of coffees to members of our table. Maybe because there was no room between tables, or maybe because they didn’t know better.
Would be a fab experience mid week during school hours..... less people and fewer children..?
How about paying $15 for 1 order scramble Eggs, for an undersize portion!! served with crispy Toast you have a hard time eating ,you cut your Gum with it!!
Its back to Albert Park for us!
Have been there before and had a great experience that time
This time however service incredibly slow and some of our food cold as if it had been waiting a while to come out.
Disappointing but we will give the benefit of the doubt and probably try again.
Beautiful setting. 😊
We had an enjoyable experience at Elwood Bathers. The food was very good, with the chocolate fondant the standout. Our steaks were well cooked and tasty.
Service was ok, but staff seemed a bit disorganised and lacking in attention to detail, our meals got sent to the wrong table and we didn't get offered mustard until half way through our meals.
Overall though a good experience.
Far too noisy to be enjoyable. Staff were inexperienced & whilst they were pleasant they were slow not very attentive. Some dishes were tasty, others not so. Expensive for what you get, as is the wine
Lovely location and good food. We booked for 2 but turned up with 3 on a Saturday night. We were accommodated with no fuss and the service was great from there on.
Food nice, staff attentive and pleasant, but the restaurant needs soundproofing ASAP. It is so noisy and loud! It is the difference between an enjoyable day out and a not so enjoyable lunch. I could not hear the people sitting opposite me on the table. I had a headache when I left.
Great venue and food. Lovely service - very welcoming and attentive without being intrusive. There was a particularly large, noisy booking next to us on the day, otherwise general level of noise you expect in an open space with hard floors.
Great food and service. Amazing views! Staff were really helpful
Beautiful setting on the foreshore with a sunset and great food. Only small negative feedback, our water never topped up and the waitress forgot twice to bring our glasses of wine. The room was full so it was extremely loud.
Great food and atmosphere trumped only by the magnificent sunset!
Service was terrible, aside from the ocean view, there was no ambiance. Ordered a glass of Chandon and the waiter came out with an opened half full bottle of another sparkling wine and asked if ‘I would prefer a glass of this because it’s already opened!”. Really disappointed in the whole experience, so sad given we only got married there 18 months ago when it was Sails By The Bay, and it was wonderful then. They need to improve quickly on every front.
We met our friends in a relaxed environment which takes full advantage of the beautiful views of the bay. Fabulous friendly service and great food
Lovely setting with a great view of the bay and passers by. Loved the blue and white wicker chairs which were quite comfortable and gave a seaside feel to the experience. Main waitress had a welcoming disposition and a very friendly smile. My fish and chips were very tasty and a generous serving. My wife had the vanilla panna cotta and liked it so much she thought she'd try the chocolate fondant which she also enjoyed. We arrived at 11:30am and the place was about a quarter full. We left at 12:30pm and it was almost full. They must be doing lots of things right. Overall a good experience and we'll be back.
Good food , friendly staff and great ambience. I would definitely recommend Elwood Bathers for all occasions any time of day
As we are seniors, we had great difficulty hearing each other's conversations. One friend, a doctor, said his ears were ringing when he walked outside.
Have you thought of acoustic tiles on the ceiling? It is such a shame but we won't be back until this problem has been remedied.
Another annoyance was the booking webpage. I tried to change our booking from 5 to 6 people but the dining agency didn't change it. Moreover 24 hours before our booking, they sent us a reminder that we had a booking for 2!!!!!!!! Very unprofessional booking service.
APART FROM THESE CONCERNS, WE ENJOY EATING AT YOUR BEAUTIFUL RESTAURANT.
Thank you for accepting feedback.
everything was great, the noise level was noticeably loud. Some more soft furnishings or acoustic panels to the underside of the ceiling would considerably help.
I booked online and made a request to have a window seat as we were celebrating my partners 30th birthday. I later called to make this request again (as I received no response from the restaurant). I was told that they can not guarantee the placement but would do there best to accommodate. On arrival on the day to my disappointed I was told a window seat was not available however that they would seat us and when a window seat became available they would move us. However when walk in group (not a booking) came in they seated this customer in the window seat. I was highly disappointed after making the request 3 times that it could not be accommodated. Also the general service was poor. And the food was average and slightly cold. As an Elwood local I was excited to try Elwood Bathers and was left very underwhelmed.
Food was outstanding however it was far too noisy! Hard to have a conversation without yelling. Didn’t make us want to stay and relax after our meals.
The perfect place for a long lunch with the girls. Will be back!
Great location with terrific views. Food and service were good - pricing reasonable. Unfortunately it was busy and consequently extremely noisy. Found it very hard to have a conversation - went to another cafe to have coffees so we could talk.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The food was excellent and the service very friendly and attentive. My only tiny criticism is the noise level is high making it difficult to have a "quiet" dinner conversation.
Reminds me of dinner with friends on the Amalfi coast!
Great venue right in the beach with varied menu & great wine list. Service was excellent on a busy summers day. A little noisy but understandabley so
Since the re-launch of Elwood Bathers, the place has come alive. Fantastic menu, excellent, great service and the location - right on the beach - is simply unbeatable.
The noise level is very ,very high!!the arrangement of seating is too casual I think! The service was outstanding, politeness of staff is exceptional!
Food, drinks & service was amazing. Despite booking online, we had to wait 15 mins for our table (previous group delayed the process) but we were given a table by the window and enjoyed watching the sunset across the bay. Beautiful location right on the beach. Will def be back!
We went on a hot day, the restaurant is really not built for this - ceiling fan was broken, shades had to be fully lowered (so there was no view), table service wasn’t attentive with water so all in all a hot, thirsty and uncomfortable experience. Food was okay but overpriced for the quality of meat and the cooking skill applied.
The setting and venue is amazing but sadly there were a fair few teething issues when we visited. Long wait times to clear the table from the people before us, multiple different staff asking to take our order, sold out of menu items (bagels), long waits on food, and then eggs not poached firm (pregnant friend). It has so much potential, we will return but not for some time - hopefully when we go back the above issues will be sorted!
Nice spot on the beach. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was good but a bit overpriced I thought-my fish was nice but lacking a bit of flavour. Otherwise nice vibe
First time here after reading good reviews and then hearing about it from friends. Lovely service from young enthusiastic staff and prompt delivery of everything ordered. Fresh quality food, nothing terribly adventurous but reliable favourites. Sunset view is a real asset to the experience of eating here. We were lucky to be seated in a corner booth where the noise level was comfortable, but away from there it was necessary to shout to be heard and other diners were discussing how common this is in many restaurants. Not sure how this problem can be solved, it just spoils a perfect experience. Regardless we will be back to try a breakfast and a lunch another time.
Food good small servings but on the expensive side ambience good lovely refurbished fits the beach theme perfectly service very attentive but noise level makes very hard for conversation would recommend as a fabulous position but need to get pricing noise level & portion sizes in order & would certainly be a repeat for most diners
Great ambiance and wonderful service, however, the noise level was extremely uncomfortable
Great food, service, view. Last time for lunch it was very noisy. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant whereas previously we’d been down the southern end. I’d ask for that next time.
The prices have gone up noticeably for the past 2-3 weeks and got to the lever where it may feel overpriced
Service was a bit random. Some staff appeared apprehensive about approaching us, all staff serving all tables so unsure whether we were being looked after by a colleague.
Food good though but expensive by comparison to similar types of establishments. We eat out every Sunday and maybe a couple of times during the week if we have time, so we get to try lots of restaurants.
So happy I could book for breakfast., it takes all the angst out of waiting for a table for a party of 6 plus a baby and a pram. You walk in the door and straight away the view is “wow” as the venue is positioned right on Elwood beach. The service is good and the staff are friendly and efficient. There was something for everyone on the breakfast menu including, the vegetarian and the sweet tooth in our group, and it was all delicious. Can’t wait to go back and enjoy more of that fabulous bay view.
When we arrived they didn’t have our booking from Open Table. The first thing I noticed is how noisy the place is. It’s like going to a Bistro with 1000 kids. We were sat fairly quickly, asked if we wanted water, we said no. Waitress said if we don’t get water it will make her look like she is. It doing her job, and then we got it anyway. Drinks were slow to come. Entree of salmon tasted like Ricketts Point. The mains of a burger and a steak were good but not great. The mains kind of saved the place. The owner guy was professional at his service when he came to the table. The food carriers looked like they worked their butts off. Then we left. We did not want to try desserts as they didn’t look appealing to us. Overall it may have been a better night except for the pushy waitress at the start of the night.
The food was good but they need to get the service up to speed. The menu needs a few more vegetarian options, the acoustics are pretty bad.
Casual dining with great food. The service is attentive without being intrusive. The noise level can be high, however it's just a product of it's popularity.
Great for couples and groups. Totally recommended.
