Went again for our anniversary. Knew it would be noisy but they have some remediating work being done soon. They positioned the two of us as far away from the big tables as they could and next to our favourite sea view. But it is very good - wine list nicely balanced and remarkable with two petit chablis available. Not extensive list but interesting. Yarra valley sparkling rose, chablis, tempranillo and even a desert wine for me. Chilli prawns spaghetti entree good, steak perfectly cooked - salad too much, just some green beans would have been good (no vegie choice as sides). Sides make the main quite expensive but what the heck, as long as the staff are being paid properly! A very enjoyable night for us. We'll continue to return
Two orders of Fish n Chips - both ordered with no salt. One comes out with, and one comes without. Not sure what is so difficult to follow instructions. It also took the entire time between placing our orders for our drinks to come out; and the bread they serve while you apparently wait, came out with the main meal. The waiter came to clear the table; couldn't manage it all at once so said, he will come back. After 27 MINUTES, I put the dirty dishes on the next table. Only then were they cleared. We had to ask to see dessert menu's.
I have been many times but this was purely poor service and made me wonder if I should go back. When you are paying the prices they charge, you expect a certain level of service. Sorry, if this sounds rough, but if you know you have a full restaurant, put on more staff, especially now leading into the holiday season when they are busy.
The view is always spectacular at Elwood Bathers, we went with friends who live locally but hadn’t been before and even they went ‘wow’ at the view. Coffee was great, despite the many menu choices we all chose fish for lunch and were very happy with our decisions. Wine from Port Phillip Estate accompanied it perfectly and the cheese platter was just what we needed to top it all off. Friendly and helpful staff, a great view and good food, we could not have asked for more.
A beautifully positioned restaurant with equally beautiful food. Will definitely return.
Food and drinks were lovely. They forgot our order so we waited about 1 hour for food. But they threw in 2 bottles of wine for free to make up for it. Would dine here again.
Fabulous venue wonderful staff nothing was too hard including bringing out our birthday cake. Highly recommended !!
It was very noisy and the menu is limited. The service was a little slow but they were very busy. I have been there during the day and the service is a lot more efficient. The menu needs to change and offer more choice.
Great location, food and service. A tad pricey however for the the overall experience.
Great spot on a sunny Sunday morning with the colourful SLS nippers and Bay views on display and a venue with tasteful 'beach house' decor and friendly staff. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was very well presented and tasty enough too. Will happily return.
Beautiful venue, however food extremely average and overpriced. The service wasn't as you'd expect for such an expensive restaurant either. Food was ok but not up to the standard they are selling it for.
Great location and perfect place for a casual brunch / lunch for a special occasion.
We were seated 25 minutes before our drinks order was taken. We weren’t offered any bread until we asked. The additional prawns with a salad meal were forgotten. When they did arrive they were taken to the wrong table. We were asked if we wanted a second drink just as we finished our mains. Our waitress was very friendly though and apologetic
The staff were great as was the perfect location. I would recommend this restaurant for the wonderful position right on the bay.
Outstanding all round. A bit noisy but expected for Sunday brunch.
Great location on the beach. We went for our anniversary dinner and requested a window table with our booking but didn’t get one. It was quite loud and my husband and I felt like we had to shout at each other a little bit. I’m pregnant and wanted a mocktail but they didn’t have a mocktail list so the waiter just got the bar staff to make one up for me, he said it all depends on what fruit they have. The meals were delicious and the staff were good too.
Unfortunately our brunch service and food was average to say the least. While staff attended well to procedures they appeared to have no regard for the consumers experience.
Elwood Bathers is such a high grade facility and location it’s a pity Management have lapsed in their attention to detail of service and quality of food served.
We celebrated a friends 60th birthday. We had a lovely young waiter who was happy to move us to a quieter table - he looked after us really well - nothing was too much trouble. We stayed for a while once we had finished eating and the waiters kept bringing us water and did not pressure us to leave - which was very nice.
The food was lovely and we enjoyed the whole experience. My only issue was the noise level. Most people come to restaurants to catch up with friends and if you cant hear the conversation then that is an issue.
Love the location. Service was very good. Food was okay.
One of only a couple of restaurants with a view of the sea, so very restful. Look forward to eating outside in the summer
Always great but calamari and firecracker prawn appetisers were exceptional
Fabulous location, fabulous food, fabulous staff. The banquet lunch is excellent.
Lovely place to lunch. Staff were friendly and attentive and food was simple but good. Quite pricey and a little noisy but amazing views and convenient location.
This is the 4th visit to Elwood Bathers and I would highly recommend it. The views are lovely, the food very good, service is friendly and professional. The only downside is the noise levels and the wines are a little pricey. More enjoyable as a couple than a group, as it’s hard to converse with anyone other than the person directly next to you. Still I love the relaxed feel and will definitely be back.
The noise level was too much for myself & friends. Admittedly we are older and it was a Friday for lunch but if I recommended it I would definitely warn them about it.
It was my birthday organised by girlfriends, and not been there since renamed and reopened. We Loved it so much so that one girl at the lunch has already booked her birthday lunch there in November. So GREAT to have a place like this that is local, Best around THANK YOU
Elwood Bathers was wonderful overall with beautiful food, terrific service, fabulous location etc however it was very noisy.
Great food, service and ambience. Would definitely come back :)
We recently celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary at Elwood Bathers and were treated like royalty by the staff. A complimentary glass of Veuve from the manager kicked off a wonderful night.
The views across Port Philip Bay were picture postcard as the setting sun ducked around the horizon.
I had the Beer Battered Flathead whilst my wife had the Barramundi and we shared a delectable bowl of sweet and crunchy Brussels Sprouts. A well composed wine list allowed us to select a beautiful bottle of Chardonnay which went well with the fish.
We thoroughly recommend Elwood Bathers to anyone wanting to dine, drink and celebrate at a special place!
A great redevelopment of a spectacular site. The fitout is casual but elegant and the views second to none.
The service is attentive but relaxed.
Overall a venue you want to return to.
Great food, great view. A lovely evening. Will definitely be going back!
Setting is obviously lovely but the service is what really makes the experience. Thankyou!
Lovely outlook. Nice decor. Good service. Food quality ok, but not up to the standard you would expect at such a high price point.
Enjoyed the whole experience!
Found some of the loud hysterical laughter from some table containing 8-10 people, a little off-putting.
Sitting at the windows over looking the sand was superb - this was requested in the On-line booking and it was delivered! Thank you.
Outlook is awesome very cool decor but food overpriced
Elwood Bathers is the new, casual dining alternative to the beachfront stalwarts in St Kilda (Donovans and Stokehouse). The menu caters for all tastes, with fresh seafood and meat options, and good vegetarian options too. Food allergies are no problem, and are well catered for. Excellent wines by the glass to match the meals (think Veuve with oysters, and an impressive Yarra Valley Willimee Chardonnay with barramundi). The service is attentive, efficient and unfussy. Views are unbeatable - right on the beach with all the activity in front of you. The only minor issue is noise... it's pretty loud inside when the restaurant is busy. So not suitable for a quiet business lunch. But ultimately: a fun, beachfront venue with a menu packed with much-loved favourites - its the new local hang-out for the well-heeled, unpretentious value seekers.
Went for a Friday lunch service and found the service good (only spoiled by a delay between ordering drinks and service of same). Nice atmosphere until the restaurant filled up and then it was so noisy it was difficult to hear or converse. Worth a visit but turn your hearing aids up to 11!
We have been a number of times and enjoy the overall ambience of this restaurant. Friendly staff and good food / coffee makes you want to come back. See you again soon.
Fantastic views, great food and very friendly service.
On a busy day ~ Father's Day ~ our experience surpassed our expectations. Warm, prompt, friendly service. delicious food with a fabulous bay view!
Overpriced, poor service, no ambience - the lighting of the bar area was way too bright.
