Delicious! Best margaritas!
So empty but great food
Lovely food and excellent service
Excellent food but ambience suffers from it being situated in a big hotel. Service was good but a bit over attentive. They did very kindly though replace for free a drink which I’d knocked over.
One of the best Mexican restaurants in London. Don’t waste the opportunity to try the Chiles en Nogada (special Independence menu). Margaritas en cocktails are not to be missed.
Great restaurant would recommend
The staff are absolutely amazing
The food is outstanding
I can’t wait to come bk
Impeccable service and the food is unique, authentic and every bite worth savouring. An absolutely enjoyable evening.
Lovely food and great service. Loved it.
What a lovely & delicious experience! Highly recommend it. Great location for a special occasion or a romantic dinner.
I was a bit hesitant about booking after reading a review by a food critic who was quite critical of this restaurant, but he could not have been more wrong. I can only imagine he is unfamiliar with the cuisine or the chefs who take it to a higher level. All our dishes were perfectly prepared, and the service was warm and helpful. Among our favorite dishes were the Ceviche Vampiro, the lamb entree, the carnitas, and the creamy poblano rice. The Calavera margarita was perfect to accompany the meal! I don't write online reviews very often, but I felt compelled to do justice to this restaurant. Thanks for a wonderful meal during our trip to London!
Every staff was welcoming, hospitality was great, service was good. Food on the other hand, overprice, small portion, starter was 6 prawns that cost £12. Main was small, drinks are overprice, food overprice, desert, overprice... I was still hungry when i left. I ended up going to another place to get something hearty to eat.
Very enjoyable. Lots of unusual things. The octopus and the three milk cake were great. All of the staff were super friendly.
Great experience. Excellent food. Service was friendly and helpful but unfortunately slow.
Great food, excellent friendly and knowledgeable service in a good ambience.
Great value brunch with delicious food and very attentive staff.
The food and surrounding s were amazing however the music which started about 8pm on Saturday night was way too loud for a restaurant ! A DJ in a restaurant seems funny and the dance music was not in keeping with the food !
My 21 year old daughter selected the restaurant to celebrate her birthday. It was a brilliant choice, we all enjoyed everything we ordered. Every plate was prepared to perfection keeping the essence of the Mexican flavors and traditions while presenting every plate in the most tasteful and elegant way. From the overture, to the drama, to the main act all the way to the final curtain everything was an absolutely fantastic culinary experience. One that as born and raised Mexicans we truly enjoyed 5,000 miles away from our homeland. Thank you Martha Ortiz for truthfully representing the essence and flavors of the finest Mexican cuisine with such artistry.
Disappointed unfortunately. Had high hopes and really looked forward to taking my boyfriend for his birthday. We waited over an hour for our main and the birthday cake was delivered to the table behind by mistake. I didn’t make a fuss and I don’t usually complain but it wasn’t the best experience. L
Really great relaxed Sunday brunch. The food was good and margaritas brilliant. But, what made it was the service. Everyone was great from start to finish. The only negative about the place is the decor, just bizarre. Bit like being in BHS in 1975.
Food excellent, really varied, colourful and tasty. Service and their recommendations was fantastic.
The food was not good at all. Both my husband and his friend got sick after.
The atmosphere is really cool. The service is amazing! I was expecting more of the food to be honest, but was nice to visit.
Excellent all round. Would recommend. Will certainly return.
Wonderful Mexican food, interesting flavours and presentation. The staff were absolutely lovely and very knowledgeable.
I really enjoyed the brunch with my friends. However my baby chicken dixh was not cooked properly, there was blood & the meat was still clinging to the bones. It felt awkward to complain as no one asked during our meal if it was ok and we were all chatting and having a good time. I wouldn't come back for that reason.
The service was exceptional, we had a Colombian waiter who was very attentive and made the experience worth it. Food was quite disappointing, they took it to far with the innovation and lost the local flavours.
Expensive for what it was. Very little choice for an inexpensive bottle of wine. Staff were really helpful - one of us didn't enjoy their main course and the staff were really happy to exchange this for something else. Starter was very good and also the desserts. Not sure I would come back - only if I picked a couple of the starters.
Excellent service, waiters knew the menu very well and were able to advise well. Food was good but nothing wow considering the prices this goes for the cocktails too.
The food was exceptional (octopus starter followed by rack of lamb) and the service good and helpful especially as our knowledge of Mexican food is limited. The ambiance was awful however apparently modelled on a 1930’s British Rail waiting room, think 50 Shades of Brown made worse by uninspired lighting. Such a shame as the food was so good but despite this inexplicable poor decor we will return to sample some more of the excellent dishes.
Lovely restaurant - impressive list of tequilas and margaritas - food was nice but some dishes a little more bland than expected. The rice pudding with rum and raisin ice cream was a highlight.
It was an amazing evening, lovely food and great service. My only disappointment would be about the wine pre ordered. The white wine I originally chose was changed before the evening, and then on the evening that wine was in short supply, so needed to choose another. My choice of pre ordered red wine was also in short supply on the night and the alternative offered was okay but it wasn’t a full bodied red like a Malbec. The lady kept saying she had only found out about the wine requests an hour ago, the wine was pre ordered a month before, so this shouldn’t have been my issue. Otherwise we had a lovely evening celebrating my birthday.
Not bad but not appealing enough to return. We visited early evening and when I booked it several weeks prior I had been attracted by an early bird deal. However, even though we arrived for 6:30 we were only offered the a la carte menu. It was a bit embarrassing try to persuade the waiter that we should be able to have a pre-theatre menu. Service was attentive but hard to understand the strong Mexican/Spanish accent. Food was fine but not outstanding.
It was a very nice experience. Very enjoyable and recomendable. 😊
Brilliant food. Service was patchy. Starters came too quickly and mains took too long. Servers were very pleasant though. I would go back again.
A twist on Mexican gourmet food, and as always amazing staff
Absolutely stunning meal.
The service was really excellent. The staff were attentive and really eager to help with menu choices and share their favourite dishes as well as make recommendations based on flavours you, the diner, like and dislike. However, I was expecting a bit more. The tortillas were amazing but the pulpo was fried to the nth degree (tough despite the server saying it was going to be so tender), the pico de gallo was so so. The tamal was lovely (amazing coming from me considering I don't like tamal). But nothing blew me away at all. Maybe for London this is good value for money and it's probably the best Mexican food you can get in the UK but the standards are pretty low. I think Ella Canta has done and can do better.
Brilliant food and staff, highly recommend. Pre theatre menu was great value.
Amazing food especially with the brunch offer. Really friendly and efficient staff. Will definitely be back!
