In Canberra to visit the Rome exhibit at National Museum. Wonderful dinner meal with wine for family of four capped off the end of a great day. Large portions for the mains, and the appetizers were spot on for flavor and portions. Service was perfect with meals arriving at the same time. Good vibe for a Saturday night in Braddon.
Drinks took forever and it was only a wine & beer, no special prep needed. both entree and main courses came out together... ridiculous! Entree's were ok but nothing special. Pork belly was very ordinary with zero crackle. Salmon was pretty boring. I won't rush back.
Great looking place, nice staff and great food.
Interior is tasteful and stimulating.
Food was great and the serving was generous. The cocktail list had unusual offerings but they were very nice. Cudo to the two guys who ran the floor and to the kitchen who did not kept diners waiting for long. It was a great meal on a coolish night.
Food waa delicious! Thanks for a very enjoyable evening!
The food was great, and the staff were super friendly.
The service and ambience was great. Only one thing I would say, is possibly make the Entrees and Starters a tad smaller, unless sharing of course. Otherwise we loved it all.
Family get together which was fun, enjoyed the setting and service, food was ok but not outstanding. Wouldn’t do this for a special occasion
A great place to dine with good ambience. Food was superb but let down by the drinks service - just too slow.
The staff were very friendly. However the service was patchy, sometimes very attentive and sometimes non existent. Our entree plates were still on the table when our mains came out, and were only cleared when we stacked them at the end of the table. The waitress asked for drink orders every minute when we first sat down, but then we had empty glasses for long stretches of time during the meal. The pork belly was over cooked and very dry, but the rest of the food was nice and the hot sauce was a nice touch. I don’t think I would go back.
Staff were incredibly helpful and lovely. They were more than happy to go out of their way to help and were extremely friendly. Food was very tasty, a little over priced but still enjoyable.
I recommend this venue all the time to family and friends
Elk & Pea prides itself on serving memories. For years a group of friends and I have been coming for brunches at Elk & Pea and the memories we have accumulated are endless.
Our little get togethers formed when our friend got engaged and the bridal party and I needed a central meeting place to organise everything for her, and so began the planning and memories we will cherish forever.
We have laughed, been stressed and had a tear in our eye (from laughing mainly) as we planned every special moment of our friends wedding whilst enjoying delicious food and drinks!
Thank you Elk & Pea!
Great service, beautiful food! Really
Loved elk &pea and have already planned my next visit here!
The food was fantastic, so was the coffee one we received it. It took 20 minutes to receive our first coffees and nearly half an hour to receive the last ones. While I don’t mind waiting when it’s busy, it wasn’t busy and I was watching the coffee area and they were talking etc and not making coffees, it was not a busy time, lots of staff, not doing much.
most enjoyable dining experience, great service & delicious food
I was very disappointed with the gluten free options. I am coeliac and the meal I wanted could not be made gluten free, the fish wrap. The meal I settled for was an egg and bacon roll, but the gluten free option was not a roll but two slices of gluten free bread that was just the type available in a supermarket. Very ordinary.
The people are very friendly at this restaurant and the food is good, I had jerk chicken and was pleased with the serving size. It was a cold Canberra winter day so if you can request a table at the back of the restaurant away from the door. The draft meant most people near the entrance were eating in their jackets (like us)
Great service, delicious cocktails and cosy on a chilly Canberra night.
The food was really tasty and very well presented. The service was excellent and they looked after us. A great place to go to have a chat with friends, a quiet drink and eat great food. Would highly recommend .
The nicest waitstaff in all of Canberra. Don't forget to look up at the ceiling!!!
Fantastic service, really pleasant and accommodating staff. We'll be back!
I love this place and as someone who eats a lot for business and pleasure, it takes a bit to make me want to go back. The owner couldn’t have been friendlier and made us feel like family coming to his place for a home cooked meal. The food is quality and expect no less in Canberra if it gets top marks but it’s the ambience, staff and coffee that stamp this as a must go to.
Pretty average, I went there a long time ago and it was amazing. I'm not sure what has changed but it's pretty disappointing. The 'jerk chicken' was roast chicken and gravy, the cocktail tasted as though it came from a pre-made concoction (soo sweet) the fish had no flavour and the beer tasted flat (although I was later advised it's the brand of beer)
We had a fun relaxed dinner with friends. Food was delicious and perfect for sharing. Definitely recommend the lamb and brussel sprouts (trust me!). The staff were also super friendly. Will definitely be back.
Great food and great service! Meals were perfect size and super tasty!
Funky little place with good food. Can’t review the coffee as we had no chance to order one. Freshly squeezed orange juice was squeezed the day before off site. Server was rushing us through ordering, inattentive and seemed inconvenienced by serving customers. Staff were rushed and it showed in the service. Wouldn’t go back.
Have never been disappointed with Elk & Pea! Wether it be for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Do yourself a favour and eat there soon!
Service was friendly, and efficient. We had a medium size group and a new born. We had a late person, who also needed to leave quite promptly after eating - everyone was well catered for. Thank you, team E and P!
Love Elk and Pea! We took my 75 year old parents and they loved it too!
If you're looking for a cosy dining experience with excellent food and unique cocktails this is the place for you
They've changed the menu recently, and lots of the good vegetarian options are gone. The vegetarian main available on Saturday night was really, really lame - I can't remember what it was supposed to be/called, but it was just a lame little vegetable stir fry. The salads were okay. We also found an elastic band in our broccolini - not the end of the word, but really not great. I've had wonderful experiences at the E&P previously with great food - but won't be back.
We had the best time at Elk and Pea. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful. We ordered a range of things with his guidance and shared. Everything was delicious. They make great coffee and had some fantastic local wines too. Looking forward to returning.
We've enjoyed the food at the Elk and Pea before. They've changed their menu somewhat, which was a little disappointing but we were very dissatisfied with the service. The wait staff were very friendly but the meals came out at different times and not as ordered (ie well done when ordered medium-rare), key dishes were not available (no corn in a restaurant emphasising mexican food??) and our side of potatoes came out after all mains were finished (sent back). They've always been a little disorganised but this was too much. Someone needs to manage the place or sort out the kitchen.
Was great to be one of the only cafes open in Braddon during holiday season and the menu appealed to our friends from Perth who were looking for a good cook up. The sourdough bit toast was a bit too hard, the eggs a little over cooked and we were sitting in the outside area with a big puddle under the table but overall it was great!
Very happy with everything. Food was delicious and very large servings. Staff were absolute lovely.
The wait staff were doing their best eith a kitchen who could not send out all dishes at a table together. There were only four of us.
Two same entrees looked vastly different when delivered. Bread was burned.
Ice cream was melted and wait staff apologised.
My desert arrived after everyone else had finished there's. Mains were all tasty but presentation was seriously lacking.
The kitchen really let's this place down
We have enjoyed coming to The Elk and Pea for special occasions over the last few years, especially since our son was diagnosed with Coeliac disease, as most of their dishes were gluten free. However, at our last visit, we were very disappointed to see that the menu had changed, becoming much more limited. In addition, the pork in the dish I ordered was tough and over cooked. It is unlikely we will return.
We order sides. Don't bother the meals are huge! Starters were a bit ordinary. Not sure real keen on the popcorn. Tasted like the bottom of the barrel with burnt bits! Mains were lovely (once you found them under all the salad). Presentation was a bit hit and miss. ... Oh, and never say "we ran out", it implies someone has ordered in stock. Say, "sold out", this sounds like its been popular. Overall, ok place, nice staff.
It was disappointing that at 1pm on Sunday, two of the items that our table would have liked to order weren't available; limited vegetarian options.
We booked a table at 12pm for their Sunday all day brekky. When we turned up, they had run out of 3 of the 5 dishes on their limited all day brekky menu. After waiting for 10 minutes to be served, we were informed of this and told they could just do some eggs on toast for us! WTF?! We thought it was a joke but the waitress said she understood if we wanted to go elsewhere. Well, of course. We left but obviously had to find a new place for brunch.
How does a place have all day brekky until 3pm run out of food at 12pm particularly when we booked a table and they expected us and others at that time?
