Food was great. Very consistent and fresh. But tables are super close together. Staff had a hard time getting around. Got bumped multiple times. restaurant seemed understaffed everyone around us including us were flagging down the server.
I always recommend Elea. Great food, great ambience, great service and great location.
It’s all good, very good, make that excellent
If you want real Greek food, make that fish, this is the top place.
I’ve been to most of the other well know Greek restaurants, they are all good to very good, Elena is a step above.
Hint, be sure to ask for a table downstairs, the ground floor with the bar is high energy but intrudes a bit if the food and wine experience
We stumbled upon Elea as we just moved to the neighborhood and it was a great find! Turns out the same people own Kyma in Roslyn, which we also love.
From the moment we walked in, we felt like we were welcomed as regulars. The wait staff, food and ambiance are everything we could have hoped for. Bonus: best baklava I’ve ever had! Can’t wait to go back.
Always a pleasant experience. The food, especially the dips and the octopus appetizer were excellent. Service is acceptable. You are not hurried. Have found myself returning for both brunch and dinner
My husband and I came here for the sunset menu which was delicious! Overall I think it's a little pricey for the UWS but I will most likely be returning for the Elea Chips, they are AMAZING!
A warm welcome was followed by sparse service. As two older women, perhaps seen as not big spenders. My Brussels sprout salad was tasteless and I had to signal another waiter to get salt and pepper.
The zucchini small plate was also oil-soaked and not enchanting.
The wine recommendation was quite good. Out first meal at Elea was outstanding. This was disappointing.
Excellent atmosphere, service and food!
Excellent Food with a menu where it is hard to go wrong no matter what you order! Great vibe and excellent service!
Authentic Greek cuisine on the upper West side! The food was outstanding as was the service. I would definitely go back again and highly recommend this venue.
Again the food is excellent and the prix fixe lunch Is a true bargain. The dinner menu is terrific and the service is always attentive. The best: octopus, Greek Cobb salad, chicken souvlaki, salmon, yellowfin, lavraki, lamb, zucchini fritters, feta and watermelon salad. Or anything else.
Our meal was delicious, the staff was great, and as always, Roy, the manager, was very attentive
Food was excellent. Service was not well timed. We waited a while for main courses and check...
The food and service has gone down hill since my last visit earlier this year. The server was ok and pushed us to order a third appetizer! We were a party of three. We didn’t ask him if that was enough food because we know our appetite and the portion plates of the restaurant. The quality of the food and service was not good. Will not be returning.
This restaurant is delightful. Food is excellent; best Taramasolata ever, wonderful zucchini chips, and delicious octopus made great appetizers. Cocktails are great. Main courses centered on fresh whole fish, simply cooked. Wait staff is friendly and on it. Management is friendly and warm. An all-around excellent dining experience, and you get the feeling they can crank it out over and over.
Excellent cuisine, attentive service and much improved accoustics that made for a very pleasurable dining experience.
We had a reservation. table was not ready. we sat for full 10 minutes before receiving menu s, water or any interaction.
Good food but poor and very slow service. Very noisy and poor ambience. Main dining room is in the basement with the subway rumbling by every few minutes. Very disappointing.
Wonderful food and ambiance
Elea is one of our local UWS restaurants to which we go back again and again - always superb, friendly staff, and our restaurant away from home.
We remember the Times saying a while back the neighborhood was a restaurant desert. Elea says it’s not. Classic Greek sort of bistro-style. Lunch is delicious and a ridiculous bargain. Go often and have everything. At dinner try the octopus appetizer, tuna, watermelon and feta salad, chocolate mousse cake so rich it should be shared, or go relatively healthy with excellent Greek yogurt and honey. We love this place. Nice atmosphere, great service, terrific food.
Great food and service. Initially, they were going to seat us downstairs, where it was very dark, but after requesting a table upstairs they were accommodating. It was curious that they wanted to stick us downstairs when there was availability on the main dining room.
I love this restaurant. Delicious and A great addition to the neighborhood.
We ate outside, which lowered the noise level, but for the moment they don't have a liquor license for outdoors. That was fine for me, but maybe wouldn't be fine for others.
A surprise find. Varied food and drink options, lots of attentive service. Nice wine list. We were meeting old friends so it was important that we werent squished in the middle of strangers; the seating was comfortable, tables nicely spaced apart (which you never seem to get anymore). I think 4 people were serving us at any moment without being annoying. Nice experience. Nice to have another option on the UWS.
We’re really glad they opened this on the West Side. We needed it and it’s now on our list of favorites. Octopus salad, gazpacho, baked peppers, a terrific unusual version of a Cobb, yoghurt with walnuts — these are all excellent. Better than excellent, they’re original. This place is without question one of the best in the neighborhood but it’s even better than that. We’ll be back often for lunch and dinner.
I have eaten at the restaurant twice before and had found the food to be excellent both times. This meal was average and overpriced..The fish was cooked well . The dish was bland.
So- overall experience-disappointment.
Elea is a casual but slightly upscale Greek restaurant. I have eaten there three times and two if those times the staff has been friendly, professional and helpful. Much of the food is traditional but well prepared. The Tarmosalada and sashimi small plates were standouts. Grilled fish is simple but delicious. The atmosphere is nice but it can get very loud.
Great service. Great food. Love having this fresh, delicious eatery in the neighborhood
As usual, the food, service and ambience were wonderful. It's a perfect go-to restaurant for evenings when the neighborhood favorites are not enough. Incidentally, I have had lunch there once and it was delightful.
Tables for two were very close together
lunch special is extraordinary quality/value. many choices, all good.
The noise level in the restaurant is so loud you cannot speak or hear your guest. This was my second time and every customer was yelling at their table to be heard. Noise abatement needs to be considered. I live two blocks away and would go more often if it wasn’t so noisy that you cannot think
First time there for me, but not the others at my table.
Exceptional food and service. Truly great.
Great chat with the manager, along with dessert wine on the house...
Fantastic find! Loved it--the food, ambience, everything was wonderful!
Can I just say: we love Elea, in large part because the food is outstanding. We have been ~8 times, mostly for dinner, but this was our second brunch here. The dinner menu is terrific, and whether you make a meal out of the starters or order entrees, we have yet to find something we did not love. Brunch has been great, too, with delicious eggs Benedict or shakshuka, and a nice drinks menu, too, if you're in that kind of mood. (Who can turn down a good Negroni?)
The food was decent, but not excellent enough as to justify such an expensive meal. The service was extremely slow to the point where it was almost comical. We will not return.
Food is very good! Had oysters, Greek salad, zucchini cakes & lamb chops. The service is terrific. It’s on the higher end in price, but a great addition to the upper west side. We will definitely return.
Excellent meal-Octopus particularly good, as was the grilled fish.
Service very nice even when busy.noisy as evening goes on-come early if you want a quiet conversation.
This is a great addition to the UWS! I will definitely be back.
