This used to be one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. After it changed ownership, the food is more standard American than authentic Mexican, and service deteriorated badly. My wife and I were there for dinner tonight. We were seated, and twenty minutes later were not only not served, but every one of the wait staff completely ignored us: no acknowledgement of being busy, no water, no drink order. We ended up leaving having never been acknowledged by wait staff.
It is off our list of places to dine, and I cannot recommend it at all.
We had a reservation. The back room we were taken too was empty at the time we arrived. We got some chips and salsa right away. It took 30 minutes to get a beverage, even though it was water, and an hour and fifteen minutes to receive our food . My order was correct, My girlfriend ordered steak and got chicken. We just ate it , as it was another thirty minutes before anyone checked on us. The waitress was not able to take any orders without using her ipad to search them out, no drink or menu familiarity. She obviously pressed the wrong order options, they should go back to paper and pen. Despite being the wrong dish , the food was decent. But based on not being very crowded, the time/wait was unacceptable.
This place just changed management and they have not gotten their act together. We were served Sangria which turned out to be purple water and corn chowder which was a bowl of cream tasteless mush. The main courses were just average and without much flavor. We won't be back.
Always a great meal. Reasonably priced and flavorful each and every time. Wonderful staff. A definite weekly visit.
My husband and I enjoy dining at this restaurant. The food is always delicious and reasonably priced.
Disappointing. I ordered the Short Rib Tacos and Mexican Street Corn. Both dishes contained FROZEN corn! Frozen corn has a lot of water and ruined both dishes. For the prices charged this should have not been frozen corn. Our server was not so attentive but I take in consideration the current labor shortage. This could be a really great place but not this time.
Wow!! What a find!! Great food, great value, and cool decor! Definitely a winner
Great food and atmosphere. Price and value were on point !
App's were just okay. Taco's were really good. Our server was great!
First…I like the atmosphere. Did a good job with the rustic look. But someone needs to check the spice rack. From the salsa to the beef fajitas there no real Tex Mex seasoning. The beef in the fajitas had no flavor: Having dealt with well known Tex Mex restaurants in Texas I have a good sense of seasoning but it’s lacking. Just some salt, pepper, and garlic will pick it up. Compliments to the beer list that is not overloaded with IPA’s like other restaurants.
We used to eat at El Barrio very often over 5 years ago. However, they started to decline and the food and drinks were HORRIBLE! We have yet to return. Friends told us that they changed hands and things were better, so we decided to give it a try! We are SOOOOO happy that we did. The food, drinks, service, everything was awesome! We can't wait to go back. Feeling very happy!
Very strange atmosphere didn’t match the food. Drinks mediocre food severely underwhelming. Could have made the sale tacos at home for about 10 dollars and fed my whole family
Food was not good... waitress did not refill waters, kept having to ask and it seemed like a chore. Out of 5 apps we only liked 1. 2nd margarita had no salt or lime. Then she brought our check without asking if we’d like dessert, which we did ... we went somewhere else. If we did not get the happy hour deal, We would’ve been annoyed at how much money we spent on food that was not good. Would never go back, and that’s saying a lot when 2/4 of the guests are enormous Mexican fans :(
Great bar/restaurant! Saw a local band here this past weekend, band was great, food was good, great beer and service! Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
Food was disgusting. Truly disappointing meal. To top that off the service was not exactly welcoming or patient.
Food was delicious, a great discover in the area!
Food, Drinks & Service were all great. Looking forward to going back.
The fish and shrimp tacos were both gross. Dripping wet slaw made the tortilla soggy. The bartender asked how the food was and he clearly saw I didn’t like them as I only ate one of the three barely and he did nothing.
They also don’t give you chips and salsa like they used to do. How does a Mexican restaurant not give you chips and salsa and stay in business.
Everyone I speak to says drinks are decent but food stinks.
Food tasted great, great service, great environment.
Staff was friendly; food and drinks were good!
I asked for a table with an umbrella I was told it was being saved in case a larger party came in. No other larger party came in. Food was bland in taste they need a chef that actually knows how to season food. Because I was unable to get a table with an umbrella I had pollen and other debris falling on my food. Won't bother with this place again. One and done. Dissatisfied and disappointing.
We had to send the crab guacamole back because it was incredibly salty, other then that great drinks, service
Food and margaritas were fantatsic. Absolutely will go back again for the crabby queso dip.
The food never disappoints. We substituted the shrimp and chorizo quesadillas for chicken and chorizo. Their queso is the best around. Staff is always friendly, drinks are reasonably priced, and you definitely get your money’s worth for food. We always bring home leftovers.
This was the second time we were here. Love the inside of El Barrio, a kind of "Day of the Dead" decor. The food is delicious, large portions and the prices are so resonable for what you get. We love the Mon.-Thurs. "Happy Hour" where one of their house margaritas is only $3.50 - and quite delicious. We will definitely be back again!
Patio dining was great! Felt clean and safe, and with great service, ambiance, food and drinks we felt like we were on a Mexican vacation!
Food was very good. Service was excellent. Good value. But extremely disappointing to look into the kitchen area on multiple occasions from my seat and not see a single worker wearing a mask. One person wore his around his chin. The others didn’t do that much. I’m assuming/hoping that they’re all vaccinated. Wouldn’t care except there’s a conspicuous sign as you enter that says that effective May 31, vaccinated employees will not be required to wear masks. Until then, however, they should be worn and the management should enforce their own rule.
Great Mother’s Day dinner with the family!
We went to El Barrio Cantina for the first time on Mother’s Day and had a great time! We will definitely be back!
Always a good meal and atmosphere
Food was ok.... beef tacos were super salty and the salsa tasted like marinara sauce. The drinks were great and the service was good.
Great food and service!
House margaritas were very good and it was nice to get out for a change. The fried avocado appetizer special was very good and the entrees were solid as well.
Always great food, service and drinks. Friendly and safe atmosphere.
Theeee best spicy margarita ever!!!!!!!!!
This is our second time trying it, unfortunately we will not be going back. They are so short staffed and the food is sub par. A disorganized mess.
We made reservations using open table - when we arrived the hostess told us she could not honor our reservation request. She told us that “other reservations” had taken our request of a high top. We found out as we observed this was not the case. Our table was given to friends of hostess who simply drank beer and ate chips. The overall experience was quite frustrating. Masks were not worn as people moved about the restaurant. When I asked the waitress she agreed it was ridiculous that the mask wearing was not enforced. I asked about a manager and no one ever came over.
The waitress did a good job and food was good. Unfortunately they have more than likely lost our business for good.
The food was ok. I have been here previously and the shrimp is always pretty good. Our waitress this time was not great. There was barely anyone in the restaurant due to Covid and she still ignored us, brought out the wrong drink order and didn't correct it. She brought out fajitas with cold rice, beans and no tortillas. She said she would bring them but then forgot when she went off to chat with a table of coworkers. I had to remind her and by that time my food was cold so I just took it home. I have enjoyed it here before but I don't think I will be back, unfortunately.
The food was delicious! Margaritas were good but the service not so much. I understand that staffing may be an issue right now but waiting for a cocktail til after you received the check is not okay
