The food is very over priced for what you get we ordered the kangaroo and beef filet and we got 5 tiny slices of meet with some garnishes. We left feeling hungry. Would not recommend.
Great service! An interesting dining experience with well constructed food.
We still love the restaurant but Saturday night was off a bit .
It was packed which is great for business but for a quiet date with my wife not so much.
The food was good as always but there was no wow factor this time :( there is usually at least 1-2 dishes that leave us wanting to come back again and again . There was also a good break in service where nothing came out for some time ( planned or not ) I’m not sure , and the dishes when they came were 2 at the same time , not a steady flow like usual .
We will be back again but maybe not till the later half of the year .
Everything we ordered was sendational, but the dish that really stood out was the pumpkin tortellini with burnt butter sauce. WOW!!!!! Will be back for that baby.
Amazing atmosphere that had all patrons and staff totally relaxed and full of laughs. Service very personalized even though every seat in the restaurant was taken. The meals were perfect, hot and so fresh and tasty. A winning dinner in every sense.
Don’t think twice, just book and have an awesome night!
Fantastic food, feed me is a must have.
Wonderful service by Gus. Will always come back
Always amazing food
This was one of the best meals my family and I have had for a long time. We could not fault any of the dishes we chose. The service we received also matched the food that was served to us. The wine that was recommended to us by the owner was also spot on. Next time we are in Canberra, we know where we will be visiting again.
* cured kangaroo, pickled cherries, creme fraiche was one of the best dishes I have ever had.
The wines recommended were also amazing. It was great to get to try wines so good
*2017 Ravensworth Seven Months Pinot Gris-Riesling-Gewurztraminer, Canberra District and
*2015 Cos 'Cerasuolo' Nero D'Avola-Frappato, Sicily, Italy
Great food always.

We passed through Canberra on holiday in Australia. We had dinner at Eightysix and loved everything we ate. The service service was also great- including ensuring that we did not order anything that I’m allergic to. We will definitely be back if we’re in town again - and happily recommend it to other people. The only minor complaints: it is rather noisy and the wine list is limited - there really should be more local wines!
The food was unbelievably good! Great friendly staff made it a very enjoyable night
The food and service were excellent and the wine pours per glass were generous. The inside seating was potentially noisy (we have hearing issues) but we were found a relatively quiet table. Overall very happy with the night out.
need to make up their if they are a la carte or tapas. Meal was disjointed and not enough food at one time to share (plenty overall)
overpriced for what it is $45 for a few pieces of meat is neither value nor enough to be an experience
Food was delicious and creative. Our waiter was a nice guy and helpful, but the service was a bit slow. Not too much of a problem when the atmosphere and food is so good, just had to flag someone down one too many times.
Great food, attentive but not overbearing service.
Quite expensive meal but quality and service do not match for the price. Good for trying it once
The food was great only heirloom tomato dish was really small. Staff are great.
The perfect location for a vibrant, intimate birthday date night. Thanks team!
Good service and great food as usual. Prawn tagliatelle and blue cheese figs are great additions to the menu.
4th time here and always a great experience. The food is worth every cent and the atmosphere is always a good one. Definitely recommend.
Great wait staff. Shame about the food. Used to love this place & the food. Have now had 3 very poor meals there. Tiny tiny overpriced servings of lacklustre share plates, had to forage to find 3 minuscule pieces of pork in one dish
The biggest disappointment was the lamb. Generous piece of slow cooked lamb used to come on a board to share. At $45, we got a one person serve of lamb, in a small dish, floating in heavily over salted mash. Won’t be back sadly.
We were overcharged for meal because waiter couldnt find the correct button... he said "i hope that's ok" when we noticed then he kept the bill at higher amount. charged twice for dessert. Unpleasant finish to an otherwise lovely meal.
Best restaurant in Canberra. Food flavour combinations are exceptional.
We opted for the tasting menu and it really was spectacular value for money. The food portions are generous and the fried chicken and blackened chicken in particular were standout dishes.
Lovely food but very small portions for the price. Way expensive for the size of the meal. Awesome enthusiastic smiling staff.
Tasting menu is great!! Good wines, very friendly staff!
The service was good and the food nice. Chicken very nice. But it was soooo noisy.
One of Canberra's best. Ticks all the boxes for keen foodies or just a great time. In particular the staff have a wonderful relaxed approach even with a full house. Consistently great food delivered by enthusiastic and well supported staff.
86 is a great restaurant.
The only feedback I have is that the menu often changes (think it’s seasonal) and the last few seasonal menus have been very daring with flavours, herbs/spices, etc to the point it feels like there is way too much going on in the plate and it’s overwhelming on the palette.
For example: cauliflower is saturated in cumin and random spices to the point it tastes like your eating herb packets.
The pumpkin tortellini beautiful and cooked to perfection but saturated with sweet flavours when pumpkin is already so sweet! Tastes like your eating cake.
Having said this, we are very simple eaters and this palette may appeal to many but we are not used to it!
—- The banoffie pie is hands down the best desert in Canberra! Must have!
I rather disappointed with the food delivered on Thu 3 Jan. We ordered 5 dishes but only blue cheese waldorf salad makes sense. Pork belly dish is kinda hard to understand as components don’t go with each other. Fried chicken batter is salty. Duck bun (at $10 each) only find a little meat. Prawn pasta is overcooked, both prawn and pasta, too much butter and garlic ... the portion is a complete joke and we asked waiter if that was the entree size but turned out medium so kinda meh. We expected lots as we were looking for good comfort food but left with disappointment.
Great food, the pumpkin tortellini blew my mind but the serving portions were on the small side - not enough for my father, we had to order two extra dishes so he was satisfied.
The tasting menu was no different than the normal menu and the portion sizes where the same as well. We cancelled dessert because the portions where to large, we didnt finish the mains for the same reason. The food came out too quickly and felt rushed.
Had I wanted deep fried chicken and chilli sauce I could have done takeaway from KFC.
Eightysix is one of my very favourite restaurants in Canberra and it's not ever let me down! Don't know how you hire staff, but they're always lovely and very much focused on customers having a good time. They're very knowledgeable about what's on and what's good and they're also very personable. As for the food ... well ... it's scrumptious. Thanks so much!
Great evening because of amazing food, the host was good fun and very welcoming. Would highly recommend
If you are looking for a great meal and really good food, stop searching, 86 is what you need.
Great work guys!! Keep on Rocking!
Service and food was amazing. A little pricey and noisey but great quality food and the staff were very accommodating. Will definitely visit again
Thank you for looking after us and accommodating our requirements.
Brilliant meal, fantastic tasting menu that kept coming!
MY HUSBAND AND I GO TO 86 EVERY YEAR ON OUR ANNIVERSARY. THE FOOD HAS ALWAYS BEEN GREAT. GOOD SERVICE TOO. WILL DEFINITELY RECOMMEND TO FAMILY AN FRIENDS.
Fabulous food and great drinks. Each time we go to Canberra we try to eat there. Best food we have eaten in ages.
