Hands down the best food in Canberra! Amazing ambience and incredible service. You will definitely see us there again soon!!
86 is one of my favorite places to eat in Canberra.
The food is delicious, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is exquisite.
Bar seating is by far the best in the house.
Excellent service, fantastic food.
We selected banquet option, which was superb
Unbelievable as per usual! Steak tartare stunning!
Funky, urban and fresh food. Loved it all.
Too long in between dishes and staff make you feel uncomfortable with comments they make about your eating. It was at the point I was anxious to ask for dessert even though I was paying nearly 300.00. It is all you can eat and you shouldn’t make your guests uneasy about asking for more dishes that you are entitled too🙄
A fantastic meal based around very tasty share plates. Each dish was presented separately and in the order specified on the menu so it ended up being very well structured meal overall. Extremely tasty and delicious. One of the best meals I’ve enjoyed for a very long time.
We booked a table at the kitchen bar and didn’t get it so this disappointed me as it was a special occasion.
Loved it. Great food & atmosphere.
Good food, great for sharing... shame it is a bit noisy if you want to talk to others. Wine list is a bit limited as far as Aussie wines are concerned which is a pity
It was my second time there and again the fiood was so good.
Drinks were flowing and the service was great.
Ill will be back with other clients
This is my third trip here, and every visit is tinged with the pain of the realisation that, as a Sydney resident, I can't eat here more often. Great food and service, amazing drinks, I really can't fault any of my dining experiences here.
We had been recommended to your restaurant by a friend. It was a lot of fun. We sat at the bar by choice and had a great time talking to the chefs. The staff vibe was really good. It was a nice environment and the food was great. I love share plates! Even got a great bar suggestion from our waiter for a drink on our way home from dinner!
A great meal and the owner Gus was terrific as a host!
Could do with a little more quantity on some of the menu items. Though they are delicious. Slightly noisy atmosphere at times. But very nice. 9/10 would recommend.
The pasta dishes were tiny and not worth the cost ($30+). We went home and made pizza.
We received great good and service. The only issue was the noise level in the restaurant as it was a busy Friday night.
Very nice evening sat on the counter and chefs were friendly and chatty
Love it as always - favourite restaurant and even better than usual. Make sure you try the pumpkin tortellini.
we were on holiday and i found 86 reviewed favourably, so i thought we'd give it a go. We loved the men, especially the past dishes, which were v tasty and innovative.
Our group of 6 attended for my wife's 60th birthday. The food was exceptional and the wait staff extremely attentive. We ordered the all you can eat ($90) from the menu and, whilst the food was fantastic, as there were 3 females, none of whom are big eaters, I don't think we really achieved our $90 per person. If we were to go again with the same group of people, my suggestion would be to order individual items from the menu. My only other issue was that, due to the relative lack of size of the dining area, it was extremely noisy and very difficult to hold a conversation (& it was only a Wednesday night!), certainly not a place for a semi-romantic meal. I would still go back again however I would approach it very differently. There are better places in Canberra for an intimate dinner.
Most rude and arrogant waiter ever! The waiter asked my partner "how was your meal?" and she gave her honest opinion. For dice sized cubes of kingfish for two - not enough - served in a bowl of slaw drowned in a vinaigrette. Gnocchi served cold in a sauce that resembled car sauce. duck roll, basically with no duck. Serving dishes before clearing away finished plates.
The waiter's response "Wrong restaurant!" Then he simply walked away.
A totally ruined special occasion.
Rushed dinner with poor service...
Food was delicious as usual.
The quality of the food was excellent, the service was friendly and welcoming and not intrusive. Definitely recommend a meal here.
We went when on the 21st April when the kitchen had been taken over by Etelek (Sydney). The food was pretty good, although pricey for what it was, and the restaurant looks really nice, but the service was pretty shambolic.
They were offering two sittings at 6 and 830, but when we turned up at 830 there was a huge queue of people waiting to be seated. We finally got our table at about 9, by which time we were starving. Our waiter was very nice but appeared stoned. Not sure if it was just because of the kitchen takeover, but definitely need to work on the service!
Portion sizes really small, expensive overrated. Wouldn’t recommend it.
The food off the normal menu is just as good!!
This didn’t have the wow factor that I thought it was going to have!
Quite noisy due to the highly sound reflective wall finishes. Not for quiet conversation, we changed our table around so we were sitting adjacent sides rather than opposite as we could not talk easily sitting across from each other
First time here and we opted for the degustation menu. Food was excellent; service very good. Venue quite noisy, but had a good vibe. Prices for food and wine on the high side, though.
This was our fourth time at 86 but our first on a really busy Saturday night. While arriving right on time for our 6.30 booking for 6, we arrived to a full and hard to move around in restaurant. It was extremely noisy and poorly lit. While the food was delicious, we had trouble communicating with all members of our small table and the wait staff. I would recommend it for a Saturday lunch or weekday dinner, but I won't venture back at that time or day again.
Girls night got out
Great food and wine! Couldn’t ask for a great place to eat 😊
Great food, accommodation and helpful staff, outside seating was great.
The meals were beautiful the thing that let it down were the desserts. They just didn't meet the same standard as the rest of the menu. I would still highly recommend it and will be a regular I think I just wouldn't order a dessert in the future.
We had an amazing time but this place never fails to please. Food, service & drinks are amazing. One of my favourite places ever!
Food was fantastic, wonderfully prepared. Service was a delight
Absolutely brilliant! That’s why we keep coming back!
Tasty share plates in a busy, noisy, relaxed setting. Some confusion over orders for our table and for tables adjacent to ours - it was a busy night, but.... Not the spot for a quiet chat, as it was loud. But it's always better to share tasty food and the selections covered a wide range and our choices were done well.
Good food had to wait an hour before first dish arrived... and forty five minutes to get our first round of drinks. Would have liked to order about three more dishes (only order two starters and a main) just didn’t have the time to wait ...
It is always a great experience at 86, for somewhere where you know the food is going to be of top class but it has such a relaxed feel. I love the humour and relaxed state the staff have their and yet they manage to deliver such excellence in food.
