Went for the first time at Eden on Saturday night. There was a music performer who was good, but we were seated up front and was very loud. Could not have a conversation while he performed. Server was nice but tended to disappear. Food was just fair. Got hummus appetizer as well as dates stuffed with feta cheese. Neither was really good. Hummus was okay, but pita bread was terrible, which was surprisingfor a Mediterranean restaurant. Also ordered cheese flatbread and chicken kebab. Flatbread was plain without much flavor. Chicken and rice with creamy garlic sauce was decent. One other warning. A glass of sauvignon blanc cost $16, which seemed a little high. Place has a nice location overlooking the Fox River and has an outdoor patio that would probably be nice in the summer.
We made reservations. Upon on-time arrival, the hostess asked if we were all present. Then, immediately afterwards, says “I’m sorry, there will be a 30-60 minute wait. There are 2 other parties ahead of you.” Ok, so we went to the bar where the bartender, clearly new and under staffed, served one drink at a time. After 25 minutes only 2 of 4 drinks were served. At that point we knew the night was not going to go well. So we left and went to a different restaurant. We weren’t the only ones. Several others got up and left. Too bad as this place has great food. This left a very negative impression and I’m not sure if we’ll be back.
The food was good but the service was terrible unfortunately
Valentines Day Dinner. Booked a week in advance. Arrived on time. Seated immediately. Waitress was at our table within minutes for intro and drink orders. Nice staff. Very good food. I had a salad, chicken kabobs with rice and my wife had salmon. The place is small and cozy with an environment that is calming and warm. They had entertainment that fit the Mediterranean theme and “deviated from my norm” but was enjoyable to listen to and experience.
Feel free to contact me
We decided to stay in the neighborhood for our Valentine's Day dinner. We had not dined at Eden on the River since their opening. We enjoyed the dinner entertainment and thought that the meal selection was very good. Our wait staff was pleasant and responsive. Overall very good experience and we are likely to return.
Good food and attentive service. The live flamenco music with male dancer was odd.
Had a wonderful diner and a wonderful time. I love the live music and flamenco dancing. I am a long time resident of the area and I am proud to have this restaurant in my town. I very rarely say something like that.
Snowy week night. We were the only diners in the restaurant. Great service and good food.
As always, the food at Eden is just wonderful. Presentation and taste is on-point!
Be sure to have a Lebanese wine with your meal—whatever you choose. The terroir was made for the food at Eden.
The entertainment is varied and enjoyable. It’s always fun when the owner, Omar, takes a moment to play with the musicians. Very accomplished musician himself. And it translates well into the food he offers.
This is an enjoyable time every time we’ve dined here. Keep up the good work!
The live performance with nice, but a little too loud if you were attempting to have a conversation during your meal.
We love our time at Eden of the River. Every time we go the food is amazing.
Great food and wonderful entertainment
Hidden gem! Nice restaurant, great food and entertainment on the weekend!
Excellent kabobs, great flavor and large portion.
Delicious food in unique, relaxing environment. I’ve been several times (months apart) and every time I go I leave thinking it need to come here more often’. Greasy food, family recipes, friendly staff.
Eden is a great restaurant with delicious food! Menu selection is excellent & service was perfect . Right on the beautiful Fox River in St Charles. Perfect for any occasion, we had dinner before a concert at the Arcada. You have to dine here to appreciate this excellent restaurant!
The live entertainment was a huge plus!
We have gone there for dinner a few times since it opened and it has improved. However, the service is still lacking, the main entree is cold by the time it gets to the table and this time, even the cocktails were not the best. Omar (the owner) is a great guy, but the staff is untrained, not very knowledgeable when it comes to the menu and when you have the waitress take your order and also prepare the drinks well.... something is bound to go bad. We love the place, the atmosphere and Omar but... this place needs an experienced manager that can train the staff. By the way, the location and the view are fantastic !!
Apps and dinner was great. Live band awesome! Tea was not authentic and just bags. Would have liked midle eastern tea.
Went there before a concert at Arcada Theater. Always go to the same restaurants and wanted to try something different. Wow. This is a hidden gem. Food was excellent, drinks were excellent and service was excellent. They even had a happy hour special going. They have vegan and meat lovers items on the menu. Will definitely go back!
Only one wait staff on hand. Made for a long wait to order.
Place has potential, but it's either meals under $12 or over $25 for entrees. It's good, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
Going away dinner w friends.
What a lovely find! The restaurant is conveniently located in downtown St. Charles and overlooks the Fox River. My husband and I shared the combo platter with chicken and steak. It was served with rice and a variety of sauces that were heavenly. Loved the string quartet as well. We will absolutely plan to go back soon.
The server raved how they rated top restaurant in the state for their style of food. So we went in with high expectations
I had the kabobs which were ok but lacked flavor. My wife had chicken schwarma which was dry and tasteless. The sever didn’t pick up on the fact that we didn’t eat the majority of them and offer to take it off the bill. The spanakopita was good but not 11.00 appetizer. I would not go back there
We were seated right on time, outside on the river as requested. Our server promptly took our drink order and asked if it was our first time. When we said it was, she immediately recommended the appetizer sampler. It was fabulous! We also shared the kabob combo. Also spectacular. I would highly recommend this place!
Everything was amazing, and the live music was great, but it was very loud and difficult to hear over the noise. Towards the end, it was hurting my ears.
Try the lentil soup and the spanakopita for starters, the beef shish kabob was excellent.
Delicious food, wonderful wait staff, beautiful setting.
Our service was fantastic and as always the food was delicious. It was a nice quiet night dining on the river.
Amazing and delicious food. We drove an hour to get there before a show. The owner met us because he was there and was so amazing. The food was so good that we will drive out again just for the food. What a fun day
The food is really great. It seemed a bit understaffed when we were there. There were a bunch of uncleared tables that we had to wait for. The firsts drinks and order taking took about 40 minutes. It was not busy, but things still took a while. Friendly staff though
We had kids and didn’t want to be a distraction and our table had a view and we were away from others. It was fantastic
We came for dinner at 7:30 on a Friday evening. The restaurant was mostly empty, but the patio where live music was being played was full. We ordered baba ganoush, an arugula salad to share, and chicken shawarma platters. The baba ganoush and the pita bread were very good. The arugula salad never came, so we asked the server to take it off the bill. Our entrees included side dishes. We ordered french fries, soup and rice. The soup turned out to be pureed lentil soup. It had a nice texture and flavor l but seemed under seasoned. The rice had cardamom, cinnamon or something similar as a seasoning, and it wasn't a good combination. The chicken shawarma came wrapped in a flatbread which was very good. The chicken itself was not really seasoned, and instead of the cucumber, tomato and Tahini sauce that's often served with shawarma, it came with some sort of sliced pickles mixed into the chicken. The flavor was a mixture of sweet and vinegary, which was unpleasant. Neither of us finished our entrees. Food service was quick, but we didn'tsee much of the server after the food came. It may be that what we ordered was not their best dish. I don't think we would come back to try something else though.
Delicious food, great music?
The food, atmosphere (especially on the open patio facing the Fox River), and service are all great. Flavorful Middle Eastern menu includes something for everyone.
The food was excellent. But I was disappointed on the music. They played for 1 hour , returned played for about 10 minutes and went an another break. My husband and I sat out in the patio and were going to sit inside to listen to the band but they were on break again. I would return for the food.
Not impressed... Heard so many wonderful things but our visit fell short. Cocktails were overpriced and tasted terrible. We felt like the food tasted more like Indian than Mediterranean.
Amazing food and great location right of the river in St. Charles. Highly recommend the spicy potatoes, combo skewer platter, lamb shank, and Eden burger.
