The food was excellent. A little disappointed that we had to sit in room adjacent to bar since main dining room had a wedding. We sat in the bar chairs which were a little uncomfortable. But overall we had a great time. All the food was amazing

Another fantastic dining experience at Eddie Merlots. This was our first large party (group of 12) and it was spectacular. Our server Chris was phenomenal- polite, attentive and lovely. Food was delicious. My only concern is the sewer odor in the restrooms. It has been a problem since January. Hope they hire a plumber to fix it.

Always a great experience. The fillet sliders at happy hour in the bar are our go to items. Always perfect. Dakota was tending bar and as always, friendly, engaging and attentive.

We started out with Filet Mignon Pot Stickers which sounds unusual but was really good. Then the Jumbo Crab & Corn Bisque Soup. It was truly amazing!!! I had the Bison Filet and it melted in my mouth while my husband had the Wagyu Bone-in Strip which he loved. We both walked out of there stuffed. However, I can't remember the last time we had food so good!!!

We are long time Eddie Merlot's- Warrenville customers. Travis, our host, was great. However, we waited quite a while for our first- ordered cocktails. When the cocktails were delivered, we immediately ordered charbroiled oysters as our appetizer. When the oysters were FINALLY delivered, Travis suggested we put in our dinner orders right away to insure timely delivery. We put in our orders immediately. Then, the oysters were not what we were used to and were very small and very ordinary...very disappointing! After we finished our appetizer, we sat waiting for a considerable amount of time for our dinner orders. Finally, we asked Travis about the dinner orders, and he said the kitchen was running a bit behind and our orders would be out shortly. When our dinner orders did arrive, they were perfect and cooked to order and were delicious...no doubt about it! The last 2 times we have been at Eddie Merlot's-Warrenville, we have encountered service delays with the bar and the kitchen. These are areas the management my want to take a closer look at for improvement opportunities.

We always have a delicious meal when we dine here. Our service was slow today, the restaurant was busy but our server seemed to not be checking on our table very often. We waited to order once we were seated, we had to ask for bread twice after our soups arrived, and we waited for the bill. This is unusual as service here is normally very good.

When we booked for Mother's Day, we were not told that the full menu would not be served. We were not told also that this was a buffe style only when we made the reservation at open table. The food was ok, but they kept running out of stuff and they were not fast enough to fill the pans. For a classy restaurant, paying what we paid and then to stand in line in a cold area where they had the food and then to also wait for food to replenish once you got to the selection you wanted was not good at all. The hand carving station they sliced such thin and I mean thin filet's. They gave me two small pc I would feed my child, and i told him i wanted one more pc but he ran out. Had to eat what he gave me and then wait again to go back for more when they relished. The best highlight was our waiter Frank. He was on beat with our drink order and always checked on us if we needed anything. Eddie Merlot don't down grade your selves. You are a classy restaurant with honestly good food as I have come here several times, but to wait in line like you are in school or a prison to me was not classy at all esp for the amount of money per plate it was.

The General Manager, Jack, went above and beyond to make our visit special. Could not have asked for better service, and meal. I have tried many of the steakhouses in the Chicagoland region and have yet to find a better steak than at Eddie Merlot’s!

Mother’s Day dinner buffet was a total surprise - not mentioned during the reservation process at all. Extremely expensive for the value delivered and food was marginal at best. Buffet stations were more empty than full. Our server was very pleasant and attentive, although drinks took a long time to arrive. Will not do this again.

FAQs

Direct answer: warm, elegant and classic steakhouse. The dining room is described as low‑lit and sophisticated, ideal for conversation, with a comfortable bar area and occasional live guitar music that enhances the mood without overpowering tables. A few guests noted temperature comfort can vary on humid or very busy nights. Overall, guests highlight classy décor, attentive service, and an atmosphere suited to special occasions and date nights.

Business casual is the stated dress code. Guests and staff notes emphasize a smart, polished look for this fine‑dining steakhouse, think collared shirts, dresses or nice tops rather than athletic wear or baseball caps. A few guests called out that dress expectations add to the upscale experience, so dressing a bit nicer is recommended for special occasions.

Yes, call ahead to make requests for celebrations, seating preferences, dietary needs or allergies. Guests commonly report staff and even the chef accommodated dietary restrictions and birthdays (complimentary desserts, special touches). For large groups or room requests, call ahead so the team can confirm space and staffing; on very busy holidays expect limited flexibility and plan early.

Busiest: holidays (Valentine’s Day, Christmas, New Year’s Eve), weekend evenings and special-event nights, guests frequently report long waits and packed dining rooms then. Quietest: early weekday dinners and some Sunday afternoons/early evenings tend to be calmer. If you prefer a quieter meal, aim for weeknights outside of major holidays or take advantage of early seating.

Midweek (Tuesday–Thursday) is often the best compromise of great service, good food and fewer crowds. For value, Monday–Friday happy hour is attractive. If you want live music and a lively vibe, Friday evenings are popular but busier. Avoid major holidays unless you have an advance reservation and patience for longer service times.

Families do dine here and guests regularly celebrate birthdays and family events at Eddie Merlot’s. The focus is on steaks and seafood rather than a children’s menu, so younger children may have more limited options. If you’re bringing kids, consider an early seating, the bar area for a more casual vibe, or requesting a side room for more space. Call ahead to ask about menu flexibility for younger diners.

Yes, Eddie Merlot’s Warrenville frequently opens for major public holidays and offers special menus or holiday service (guests report dining on Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day). Be aware that holidays are very busy and some guests experienced longer waits or slower service on those dates, so book early and allow extra time.

Yes, Eddie Merlot’s Warrenville is a popular choice for date night. Guests repeatedly praise the elegant, low-lit dining room, live guitar on select nights, and attentive service that make for a romantic evening. Expect classic steakhouse fare (prime-aged steaks, seafood, table‑side desserts) and a cozy bar area for a pre- or post‑dinner drink. Tip: reserve ahead for weekends and holidays, and ask for a quieter booth or seating near the fireplace if you want a more intimate table.

Portions are generally consistent with an upscale steakhouse: entrees (filets, ribeyes, Wagyu) are hearty and meant to be the meal’s focus, sides and shared desserts can be generous. Guests frequently mention large, shareable desserts and substantial steak portions, though a few guests felt some salads or specialty items were small for the price. Expect classic steakhouse plating, fill up on a steak and a couple of sides or share a dessert.

Dinner hours at Eddie Merlot’s Warrenville are in the late afternoon and evening. Regular hours listed by the restaurant are: Mon–Thu 4:00 pm–9:00 pm; Fri–Sat 3:00 pm–10:00 pm; Sun 3:00 pm–9:00 pm. Happy Hour runs Mon–Fri 4:00 pm–6:30 pm. For holidays or special events (Valentine’s, Christmas, NYE) hours may vary, call ahead and book reservations early.

Yes, guests of all ages dine here and staff often accommodate families. There are comfortable bar seats, main dining room tables and side/back rooms that work well for family gatherings. Some guests mentioned the layout can be awkward for elderly guests and one noted assistance was helpful; if mobility is a concern ask the host for accessible seating when you reserve. Overall the team is described as helpful with larger family parties and celebrations.

For a quieter, more relaxed meal go early on a weekday or for an early Sunday seating. If you want value, try the weekday Happy Hour (Mon–Fri 4:00–6:30 pm). Avoid major holidays and weekend evenings unless you have a reservation, guests report Valentine’s Day, Christmas and NYE draw heavy crowds and longer waits. For a lively night with music, Friday evenings with live guitar are popular.
