Very cozy and pretty. Cocktails were great. Food and service were excellent!
Great evening at Eckl’s! Bar was fabulous, the drinks and friendliness was exceptional. In fact the owner was in the bar area an you can be assured of a well managed, total restaurant high-quality environment! Food and service was superb. Wait staff assisted in the selection of appetizers and entrees. All very well done!
We went on NYE and the atmosphere was great but service was pretty slow. The restaurant wasn’t too busy so I was very surprised how slow it was to get our drinks, appetizer, and meal. Our server did a nice job though and apologized for our wait. Drinks were good but a little over priced. I ordered the lobster ravioli and was pretty disappointed, it was very dry and the shrimp that came on top of the ravioli was overcooked / too charred. I do enjoy going to Eckl’s but this experience wasn’t what I was hoping for.
Steak and Oysters were really good. However, the services was a bit slow and almost seemed like they lacked enough staff.
Food was good, slightly overpriced but overall a good experience.
Steak and lobster was good!
New Year’s evening
I had the roast beef dinner. My potatoes and asparagus were Luke warm at best. Roast beef was good.
We shared a crab salad that was disappointing - tiny crab legs with the shell still there. Not much else to it. My husband had the lobster ravioli which he did not care for. I loved the ambiance and our server was good.
Service was a little slow, nearly 2 hrs, with no appetizers but we were able to have conversation across the table and understand/hear everyone. The salads were beautiful and the portion of prime rib were large. The scallop dish was a bit small, only 4 scallops
Steak burger was overcooked and dry. However the roast beef and wings were delicious.
This may be my new favorite restaurant! Everything was outstanding and we are looking forward to a return visit. I highly recommend the oysters, stuffed peppers, filet mignon, and gratin risotto.
Absolutely would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Went here with another couple for my husbands birthday dinner. Every item we ordered we were told they were out of. I asked for the manager who came out with an attitude. Told her what happened and her response was what do you want me to do about it. She then went on to say it wasn’t their fault they had a busy night the day before and the 2 of her kitchen staff didn’t show up. I ask why we were not told this when we arrived and she had nothing to say. Needless to say I will make sure that I tell everyone I know what happened and not to go there. Shame as I am sure that the owner is unaware that the face of his company is rude and ignorant
Food and service were great but waited a LONG time for our food. Waited 15+ minutes for French onion soup and then about another 15 for a banana pepper dip to be served.
Honest Honest GREAT SERVICE- Our Christmas Eve dinner was most enjoyable at this comfortable and stylish place. We love that it is in the Larkin and had no problems finding parking. The food was delish, I had the beef Wellington, Yum. We really enjoyed our mixed drinks. I had tasty London Mules (we had a DD). Maybe I enjoyed them too much as I left my phone and credit card. Not to worry as my waiter handed it in and the Manager was sure to let me know my phone was safe. The staff there were very nice people!
Great lunch haven’t had a bad meal yet!
Went for dinner for the first time on 12/14/19. The ambiance was great, as were the specialty drinks. We ordered the gouda mac and cheese and the lobster ravioli for our entrees and the beef on weck egg rolls for our appetizers and both were truly amazing. Our server was extremely attentive and helped us in offering suggestions from the menu. Would highly recommend.
A bit overpriced for the offerings. Service was very slow. Lobster ravioli dish and scallop dinner were both so/so. Everyone who ordered beef was happy with their meals. Bill was wrong, extra entree was added. Glass of wine was about 3 oz, a tad skimpy.
We went for dinner on a Friday evening, everything went smoothly, the food was quite good and the service was as well. We’ll be back.
Our group of four really enjoyed our evening at Eckl's@Larkin. So glad we choose this restaurant. We ordered two wedge salads to start. As recommended by our server, Cassidy, the kitchen split the two up for the four of us. Interestingly, each had more on the plate than any restaurant I have been to. They were awesome! Dinner was another hit... Prime rib & ribeye steak were exactly as ordered and extremely flavorful. One of us, a smaller eater had the salad and French onion soup as their dinner. The soup was another hit. The only low-point is they have a limited wine list, but by no means should be a deal breaker. Now for the highlight of the evening... Cassidy, our server was spot on in all ways you would hope for. Attentive, but not overbearing, made great recommendations, and made sure that we were satisfied with the restaurant overall (ambiance, food, and service). She was so sweet and was a great ambassador for Eckl's. Will we return... You better believe it. You will not be disappointed.
One of the best french onion soup's I have ever had.
Comfortable. Food and service very good. Only negative, two items on menu not available.(hunters stew and berry mule drink special)
Good. Food could have been warmer. Beef just a little too chewy but otherwise very tadt
Our first time at Eckl's. We were seated promptly and the service was very good. The Verde salad was excellent. The Lobster bisque was also very good but it was not hot. Unfortunately the same could be said of all of our entrees. They were all very good in their presentation and taste, but they were not hot! Cool food would be the best description. I don't know why the food could not have been served warm. The restaurant had very few tables in service.
shrimp cocktail warm........ wedge lettuce warm........ butter for lobster tail not served under flame . just overall average at best . probably would never come back sorry Not up to expectations of other restraunts in area.
Eckl’s@Larkin never fails to please. The food is always superb. My dry-aged rib eye was cooked to the desired temperature and was succulent. The boyfriend’s Wagyu burger was also perfectly cooked and delicious. As always, service was professional, and our server was very personable without being overly attentive. When our meals were delayed due to a larger party ahead of us, we were offered cocktails on the house. We have had consistently great experiences whenever we dine there.
Not sure if I would recommend or not. Beverages....3 drinks requested were not available at Eckls. A meal had to be sent back as not cooked as ordered. Food was "warm".....4 out of 7 of us would have sent it back but we had already waited over 30 minutes for our meal after placing the order. Before my party arrived I asked for a dessert to be served with a candle in celebration of a 95th birthday, ordered the caramel something or other which sounded delightful but true disappointment and after it was brought out, we had to wait another 5 minutes for plates & forks.
We had early 5:30 reservations so the restaurant was not overwhelmed with activity. Why ask if it is a special occasion when making a reservation if the occasion is not attended to! Going back to Mortons.
Had a 6 pm reservation, and sat by 5:45 because we arrived early. Food was good, except for the lobster bisque, which had a very strange flavor... almost like peanut butter. Finished with soups/salads and entrees by 7:00, and ordered desserts, which didn’t come out until 7:25. Should have had a hot center(lava cakes) but we’re lukewarm and clearly sitting a while before being served to us. Upsetting, because we had to be somewhere at 8:00 and couldn’t have them remade. Did not eat them at all. Service was weak overall- they didn’t clear dishes as we finished. No excuse for waiting 25 minutes for dessert. It was not busy in there. I’d re-try it because the good and atmosphere was good (kids loved the burgers, I enjoyed my lamb), but they need higher service standards.
We had three delicious meals at Eckl's.We ordered steak and roast beef and all three meals were well prepared.Wine list did not seem too expensive and had a good selection. We ordered a bottle of California zinfandel which we all enjoyed. They were always known for their roast beef sandwiches which is what I had.Great clams on the half shell as well.Very nice and warm for winter dinning as they had all the garage style doors open in the summer.Staff was wonderful as well.
First time going to Eckl's and was not dissapointed! Should've gone sooner. Such great interior decor and very nice and unique ambiance. Definitely a great date spot or occasion for a nice meal.
I was really surprised by the depth of the menu and the quality of the entire experience.
Our waiter was FANTASTIC and were extremely happy that we took all of his recommendations.
I will be back.
The service was great but the decor was a little bizarre. I ordered the dry aged ribeye for $55 and given the quality it was not worth the money. It was cooked very well but it wasn’t worth the cost.
Very quiet. Friendly bartender that filled in as a waiter nice selection of food to choose from. Might pay a little more than average but food was much better than average. Salted Carmel lava cake made the finishing touch.
It started well. Warmly greeted and directed to the dining area.
Amy greeted us, took orders for drinks, appetizers and lunch menu food.
The appetizers arrived within 10 - 15 minutes and they were good.
20 minutes go by and no food. Amy apologized for the delay twice
10 minutes later the food arrives.
Steak was mostly grizzel and the scallops tasted freezer burnt.
We are all agreed that the fries that came with the meal were McDonald's.
I can understand waiting for good food, especially when busy.
But we were the only ones there.
The service was excellent! However, our food was cold.
First, our server did not tell us her name, she seemed new. The check says her name was Amy. The lights were on full blast for a Saturday night at 7pm. There was a family party behind us with children running around screaming. We ordered the artisan plate, and before we were even 3/4 of the way finished, the server brought out our soup which was half spilled all over the bowl. We didn’t even have a chance to enjoy or finish the artisan plate. Then, my boyfriend finished his soup and she instantly tried to take mine as well even though I was still eating so I told her I was working still. When we were done, soup was taken away and less than a minute later our entrees were here. We both ordered the scallop dish. The sauce on the scallops was good, but the fried risotto and vegetables were the most bland thing ever. No seasoning on anything. We told Amy how it was because we only ate a few bites of those parts. I expected a manger to come over and apologized but no one ever came. Then, my wine was filled with so much sediment it was all over the glass, Amy did buy me another glass. For the price of dinner, I expected so much more. Better atmosphere, a manager to address the fact we did not even eat our meal, and then, all she did was take 10% off our bill. That equaled $11. Less than our two drinks combined. I did not expect anything free but I expected at least a manager to come over. Amy also did not mention she did anything or say goodbye she put the check there and just smiled and walked away. Disappointed as we had heard good things and probably will never come back
First time visiting. We were pleasantly surprised with both the atmosphere and food. The food was fantastic. My husband ordered the aged beef special and I had the Lamb Lolly Chops - both were delicious. The best part is that you can make your experience what you want - casual or formal. Highly recommend if you need a place near downtown but with ample parking.
We had an amazing time celebrating a friends birthday! Sam was our server and she was wonderful!!! We all plan on coming back soon! Amazing food, service, and atmosphere!
Mediocre is the best way to describe the food. With so many great restaurants in Buffalo, I wouldn't go back.
One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had in a long time ! Only had 1 cook working ( which they informed us of ) and didn’t have 5 items on the menu that they listed and said it was because of busy weekend before and didn’t order enough food ( which is poor planning ) . Also , wait time between appetizers and main courses was 40 minutes and no one came over to apologize or see if we wanted anything else in between . By the time we received our food had to inhale it as had plans for the hockey game which we were already late for . I have never written a negative review before but felt compelled to do so with such a poor experience.
Great food and service. Will definitely be back!
