To much anticipation by Philip Johnson’s strong local following, ecco bistro opened its doors in 1995, starting what has turned out to be a Brisbane landmark restaurant. Located in an historic building on the fringe of Brisbane's central business district, the century old former tea warehouse oozes with character an ambiance. Almost twenty years on, ecco underwent a total refurbishment in October of 2014, giving it a contemporary look, yet preserving the inviting, warm bistro feel that has stood the test of time.

I’ve dined at E’cco many times before and it is never short of amazing, food and service is always exceptional and it remains as our favourite restaurant. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this venue to anyone. Absolutely brilliant!!

Fantastic fresh food. Mary, the host (and the Head Chef's wife) was great. Ecco at its best. Still going great guns after 20 plus years. A must visit

We have been to E'cco Bistro a number of times over the years since 1997. The food and service has always been outstanding and our latest experience was no exception. The Chef's Menu was wonderful and just the right amount. We didn't have the matching wines but the Grenache from WA was beautiful!
All-in-all a great experience on our Anniversary!

Spectacular restaurant. The service was friendly but professional from the moment we walked through the door. Wait staff were very attentive and gave great recommendations on food/wine pairing.
Would rate the food 10/10!

The vegetable side dishes were the highlight for me. Interesting combination of ingredients to enhance the flavour of cauliflower and also the bean dish, innovative and very tasty.

Had a great dinner at Ecco for a celebration last Thursday night. Decided to try the tasting menu - loved all of the dishes but the duck course and cheesecake dessert was a real highlight! Great wine menu and excellent service. 10/10.

Absolutely amazing evening. The food was divine - so yummy! Highly recommend the bugs and suckling pig! The service was impeccable- the staff were very attentive. Visiting from interstate but would definitely come back here again next time I’m in Brisbane!

When we arrived they thought we were press but when they found out we weren't and we were on a voucher which was PAID for by a friend we were treated almost with distain. The normal menus which had already been given to us were whisked away with little explanation and replaced with a chefs choice menu. The food was ok but did not make up for the poor service and atmosphere. The noise level was ridiculous. It was difficult to be heard across the table. We had heard great reviews so thought we were in for a good night but we were appalled. I will not return and will not recommend this place to anyone.

The newly relocated Ecco is a lovely space and much more conversation friendly than the old premises where hard surfaces made it difficult for a small group to hear each other. The food, as ever, was fabulous and the new menu provided lots of flexibility for sharing. Some teething problems with service on a busy Tuesday night - the little things that shouldn’t be missed in a restaurant of this style. Missing cutlery and luke warm coffee and difficulty in getting assistance as the busy staff were run off their feet. Having said this, once we able to get some assistance issues were rectified quickly and with sincere apologies. As a local to the new venue I am optimistic the little crinkles will be ironed out and am looking forward to this being my regular.

Great food, as always. The new approach to their menu, however, is ridiculous. It no longer uses comprehensible categories, like entrées, mains and side dishes. Instead, you are left to guess how to put a meal together. The overworked service staff are not available to explain what it means.
We waited ages to even get a food menu, then another long wait until someone appeared to take a order, only to be asked to explain the menu. Then more waiting for us to make an order.
The new premises are very noisy - it is hard to have a conversation or hear what the wait staff are saying. The wine is ridiculously expensive.
After many great experiences at the old Ecco, I don't see it as value for money anymore. It is only saved by its great food.

Service was great knowledgeable wait staff, food was amazing!! Loved the menu great choices to share. Ambiance was good, still capututed the e’cco feeling. Will definitely be back!

Was an absolute amazing experience I was so touched by how special they made everything for my partner and I! WIll definitely be returning and telling all our friends to enjoy such a wonderful place.

The food and service were of a very high standard. We sat in a corner spot near the entrance which was a little hot at lunch time because the sun was streaming in and we couldn't feel the air conditioning. This wasn't helped by the door being constantly left open by people pssing through. It was the restaurant's opening week and we were were told they were getting a blind for the afternoon sun. In any case, we felt a little removed from the main part of the restaurant so I would prefer to sit somewhere else next time - and there definitely will be a next time.

The bug and duck were particularly good! The music was a bit loud so it took a while to settle into an intimate mode.
