E'cco Bistro
Having relocated from it's original location in Brisbane CBD to the fast growing inner-city residential mecca, Newstead, e'cco has been positioned to prosper for the next 23 years and beyond.
As Philip says “We do as little as possible with the best ingredients available.
We had an amazing dinner at Ecco Bistro! The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. We had a large group of 10 for dinner and they went above and beyond to ensure we had a really enjoyable evening. I wouldn’t hesitate to go there again or to recommend it to my friends!
The food is outstanding but let down by some service issues.
Couldn’t fault a thing
The food was absolutely spectacular! Steak was cooked to perfection! The only thing that let the experience down was the service, when you charge high end prices you should supply the service to go with it. No atmosphere though ?!
I would still go back as the food is great
Didn’t get off to a good start as when we arrived we were kept waiting for almost 10 mins as they wrongly assumed we were with another party. That almost put a dampener on the night BUT faith was restored by Robert in the al fresco bar who was the epitome of customer service.
Once we were seated our food was sublime. The entree serving size seemed a little light on but our risotto portion for main course was plentiful and lots of Morton bay bug too which was a pleasant surprise. We shared 3 desserts between 4 of us and that was just right.
The one negative for me was the price of the wine. $60 was the cheapest bottle which seemed excessive. I would love to have tried their broad range but the price put me off.
Service was attentive. Staff were knowledgeable about the menu and it was an enjoyable evening.
We are going to return to try the lunch menu!
Strawberry shortcake cheesecake was the best dessert I have EVER had in my 39 years. Mind blowing
Great restaurant, fantastic food and wine. I was very happy with all dishes.
Up to usual standard except that the wine we selected was unavailable on the day.
A great venue and night. Service was a little off, but this was made up for by the quality of the food.
Amazing food and service. We highly recommend Cocktails were delicious.
Food was amazing, service professional and friendly at the same time and and the atmosphere was fantastic
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience at E'cco Bistro. Staff friendly and helpful. Food was very good, particularly enjoyed the fresh salmon entree, lots of textures and flavours. Service prompt but not rushed. Great selection of wines. Would love to return...so many other intresting dishes to try.
Our first visit to the new Ecco (yes a bit slowti get here after many times s the old premises
Really enjoyed the new space and the manager very involved with the guests
As a spoilt for choice local being able to bring a special bottle is a driver for us and a number of our foodie friends how have also been with the change
Kangaroo Was terrific and the Bug Risotto
Outstanding food, great value. Think Gnocci melting in your mouth like a soft pillow. Exceptional flavour combinations with added elements of texture and presented to wow. Fine dining service with a sense of warmth which is not commonly found. Love how you can have award winning food in a relaxed ambience. One of my favourite restaurant in Brisbane.
Amazing food. Great vibe. Service wonderful. Would definitely recommend.
All went well. One side dish was slow to table but all went well.
What a fantastic experience from the moment we walked in the door.
Staff were attentive and informative.
Atmosphere was just right and the food - well I just could not stop eating - it was delicious.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Anniversary dinner - thanks for making it such a delicious and memorable evening. :-)
Excellent service in elegant surroundings. Food was lovely.
We were disappointed in the barramundi, just felt the black beans were too dominating and spoilt what was otherwise a good dish. The gnocchi were delicious, we have had them before, but the centre was too hot (not usually a complaint, but one of us burnt their throat)
Have always celebrated special occasions at E'cco with family, loved the other premises much better. Just not as it used to be. Would always recommend E'cco though. And I will be back.
Had a lovely night at E'cco, delicious food, amazing service, would definitely recommend it!
Our booking was for 6pm & we were told multiple times that we only had 2 hours on Saturday night, as they had 2 sittings, which we were happy with, however...on putting in E'cco into our GPS, it took us to their old address in Boundary St, during which time we took a wrong turn over the Storey Bridge, then back again, then a phone call to them in Tenerife finally got us to the correct address nearly half hour late, eating into our 2 hour dinner, which stressed us!
We finished our mains after 8pm, then I suggested to our party that we take dessert home, so they could have the table (as I'd agreed to multiple times), but when I suggested this to our waitress, she thought we were in a rush to get away, but I explained about our 2 hour limit because of the next sitting. She promptly went to check, & informed us we had the table for the night, as nobody had booked it! So, it was THEN, I felt more relaxed (after all the previous stress!)
I didn't have the opportunity to suggest to the staff that they should have informed me on arrival that we didn't have a 2 hour limit, which would have relieved a lot of stress!
I'm definitely going back to E'cco, but now with fore-armed knowledge re address & asking on arrival if we have to get out quickly (not just assume, because I'd been informed multiple times!)
Went there for lunch with a group and everyone enjoyed their meals. Good atmosphere.
Had a great meal. Food was good, staff were attentive without being pushy. Good cocktails.
Excellent total dining experience for my birthday, great to view the open kitchen staff at work, wow they work hard for us “ the customers”. The table service staff gave a natural high quality service and contributed highly to the ambience of this fine dining establishment.
Our compliments to the entire team and the owners for keeping it “right”.
We had an awesome experience at E'cco, it was Riverfire so there wasnt many people there... so was very quiet and pleasant. The Food was delicious and with our Mains we only needed potatoes as a side between 3 of us. The mains we had Pork Belly and Fish of the Day they were a decent size. The most delicious thing was the Craggy Range Pinot Noir, great idea having it by the glass. The Service was very personal and attentive. I would put E'cco in the Top 10 Restaurants in Brisbane.
Superb as always. The food is so good here on a regular basis that it compels you to come back time and time again.
Have eaten here several times at old and new venue. Found both the food and service v disappointing. Wondered if ownership had changed? Wine list is v good.
Delicious food and wine, with excellent service, in an unassuming bistro.
I had my Birthday at Ecco Bistro it was so wonderful. The Gnocchi is to die for. They got the kitchen to bring out dessert and had another plate written in chocolate Happy Birthday. Was a wonderful night!
Complimentary bread? Delilah! Get more!
Shared the Angus rib eye with some seasonal greens and potatoes: sublime!
I am not really a desert man - affogato is my usual go-to but decided to try the mango Panna cotta and was blown away. I would come back just for that desert!
Value for money? Definitely! No question about it!
The only thing that detracted (a little) from the experience was the choice of music/ the volume it was played at... was a little over bearing at times.
Loved it! Will be back!
Simply outstanding dining experience. Everything about this place is 100% class- service, quality of food, atmosphere.
Beautiful food. Great service. Great venue. Definitely would go back again.
Best way to spend a 50th Wedding Anniversary with a small family group. Absolutely special occasion, match by the food and service!
Wonderful food! Great service! Will be back as I have been many times before love this place!!!
Always a wonderful experience dining at E’cco, staff and food is always exceptional
My partner and I had lunch at E’cco to celebrate her birthday. Everything, from the booking process to the service, was seamless and of high quality. The food was phenomenal, as were the drinks. We particularly enjoyed the slow cooked lamb shoulder, which was just delicious and fell right off the bone. The sides of kipfler potatoes, chorizo and olives, and radicchio and endive salad with walnuts, blue cheese and orange vinaigrette, were equally delicious. The deconstructed strawberry and raspberry cheesecake was the perfect way to finish our meal. We look forward to visiting again to try other dishes from the a la carte menu! Thank you for a highly memorable meal!
I just love this restaurant - it’s many years since I’ve been and first time in Newstead. Philip Johnson is a genius - have two of his books and of course bought another one whilst I was there (which Philip signed) just love love love his food and would recommend it to everyone. Can’t wait to go back in November. Sensational!!!
This was the first time I have been to E’cco Bistro and I was very impressed! Having had the Chef’s tasting menu this gave me a chance to sample a broad range of the chef’s talents. The food was outstanding and timely and the staff were attentive without being invasive. I would highly recommend E’cco Bistro and I’ll be definitely booking another table in the near future!
Loved every part of this restaurant. Food, staff and ambience were 10/10 👌🏻
