Beautiful food. Great service. Great venue. Definitely would go back again.
Best way to spend a 50th Wedding Anniversary with a small family group. Absolutely special occasion, match by the food and service!
Wonderful food! Great service! Will be back as I have been many times before love this place!!!
Always a wonderful experience dining at E’cco, staff and food is always exceptional
My partner and I had lunch at E’cco to celebrate her birthday. Everything, from the booking process to the service, was seamless and of high quality. The food was phenomenal, as were the drinks. We particularly enjoyed the slow cooked lamb shoulder, which was just delicious and fell right off the bone. The sides of kipfler potatoes, chorizo and olives, and radicchio and endive salad with walnuts, blue cheese and orange vinaigrette, were equally delicious. The deconstructed strawberry and raspberry cheesecake was the perfect way to finish our meal. We look forward to visiting again to try other dishes from the a la carte menu! Thank you for a highly memorable meal!
I just love this restaurant - it’s many years since I’ve been and first time in Newstead. Philip Johnson is a genius - have two of his books and of course bought another one whilst I was there (which Philip signed) just love love love his food and would recommend it to everyone. Can’t wait to go back in November. Sensational!!!
This was the first time I have been to E’cco Bistro and I was very impressed! Having had the Chef’s tasting menu this gave me a chance to sample a broad range of the chef’s talents. The food was outstanding and timely and the staff were attentive without being invasive. I would highly recommend E’cco Bistro and I’ll be definitely booking another table in the near future!
Loved every part of this restaurant. Food, staff and ambience were 10/10 👌🏻
I would particularly recommend the lunch menu, excellent food and value. Our meal was outstanding.
E’cco ticks most of the boxes on the food and beverage front, but is very much let down by its lack of ambience. Poor lighting, food court style tables and a lack of any kind of interior design detract from what would otherwise be a happy dining experience.
A beautiful menu and romantic setting. Perfect for an evening with that special someone.
Beautiful food and fantastic staff. Would highly recommend! Thanks!
Absolutely brilliant meal and service was attentive and knowledgeable
Mum and I wanted a quick quality meal before seeing a musical. Our meals, salad and wine just hit the spot, and was we were in and out in an hour. Ecco just keeps delivering, thanks!
Beautiful experience with very tentative staff and warm welcome.
We went to E'cco to celebrate our wedding anniversary and our experience on the evening was thoroughly enjoyable. First and foremost, the food was wonderful. My wife is gluten intolerant and she was able to order almost every item on the menu without any compromise to flavour. That was a real bonus for us. The service was understated and could not be faulted. The ambience and fitout of the new location in Newstead are first class and made for a very relaxed yet stylish feel. Our adult children had unexpectedly ordered a bottle of French champagne for us and that surprise was added to when our dessert was accompanied with a Happy Anniversary message in chocolate sauce. We will certainly return to E'cco in the not too distant future.
Fabulous cocktails, and the beef short rib was amazing. Excellent service throughout the whole night, and a great overall venue
I visited E'cco Bistro with my parents and partner and the fabulous service started the minute my partner and I walked in the door. We were early, so were shown to the bar. The barmen was very friendly and quickly made us two cocktails. While we were sitting and waiting the owners were sitting at the bar enjoying a drink. We got chatting about the gorgeous artwork and the location, which I thought was lovely.
Our meal was outstanding (we had the share plate of lamb shoulder, so delicious), the wine was wonderful as recommended by our wonderful waitress. This restaurant is just as good, if not better in its new location in Newstead and the beautiful artwork, lighting and décor really set the scene for an entirely enjoyable and delightful evening. 5 stars from us!
First time diner, and we will return. Fantastic food. We both went with the chefs tasting and loved each different dish. My only critique would be when course 3 and 4 came out the explanations of the wines that went with them were poor. I believe the main man was on his break and I get that but when someone is away, the rest of the team need to step up.
Had an excellent experience and enjoyed ourselves. Thank you so much.
Exceptional food, service and atmosphere. I would highly recommend Ecco to everyone.
Excellent food, we booked the bar table and enjoyed the ambiance tremendously. Will definitely go again.
We really enjoyed our dining experience at E’cco from our greeting when we arrived to our farewell. We had the Chef’s menu and each course was well explained and delicious. A slight delay with one of the courses was noted and compensated with a glass of wine. The restaurant was full but the service was impeccable. Our only gripe was the level of noise.
For a birthday gift, I requested a pre-paid dinner for two. The staff were very helpful in organising the whole thing. The food was amazing and the staff were lovely. I am very impressed and would highly recommend.
Our dining experience wasn’t what I was expecting.
1. Chill too strong in risotto to match delicate flavour of bug.
2. Asking for our drinks to be poured NOT what I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber
3. Waiting for menus- I actually had to get up and ask the maître’d for them. Again, NOT what I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Especially when they want you to leave after an hour and 45 minutes
4 An average roast chicken (spatchcock) with no smokey char grilled flavour (as promised by our waiter) extremely average l could have cooked it myself.
Overall an extremely disappointing experience. Not at all what I remember from the old location in the city. Myself and my friends felt highly let down and frankly ripped off.
Food and service was amazing! Will definently return again.
We loved our experience at E’cco, and would return. We had the lunch special, which was great value, but we were a little disappointed in the Crispy Skin Pork as there was more fat layer than meat layer. The skin was particularly delicious though.
The Wednesday duck special was disappointing. The duck was very dry. I'm had much better meals here
Always a great night out..will go back again.
Service is alway amazing
Great food, really enjoyed the lunchtime menu. Was very happy with the service, only downside was no one said goodbye when we left.
Excellent tasting menu, wines paired well with all of the dishes. A big surprise and an absolute pleasure to meet and have a quick chat with Phillip, made my weekend. Service was extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. A flawless dining experience.
We had a wonderful dinner at Ecco Bistro. My partner and I shared the prawn tortellini and lamb shoulder. Both were delicious and generous servings. Service was very good. We would definitely come back.
Steak and Shiraz Tuesday’s incredible, highly recommend checking this out, as always food was exceptionall
Very disappointed, nothing like it used to be at the old venue. I’m not sure if it has changed owners but the service is poor. We had to ask the waiter for a menu after being there for like 10 mins. We had to ask people to top up our water. Not what I expected from such a high end restaurant. I would not have cared if it was a local takeaway joint.
Food was perfect. I had the Angus steak and it was cooked beutifully. Service was first class waiters and waitresses were knowledgeable and courteus.
This was great, the staff were very professional and funny. The food was exceptional and generous. Frankly I loved it - second time I’ve been there and it is consistently great. Just that next level up with reasonable prices. Think I’ll be a regular
Always love the venue, service and food
Attention to detail terrific
Had the degustation. Classic Phillip Johnson style food, that was cooked to perfection. Having been away from Brisbane for a while, it was a pleasure to experience that food again. Service struggled a bit occasionally but everyone was friendly. Only one complaint - when you’re having the degustation/chef’s menu, with matching wines, how do you tell the sommelier that he’s not pouring sufficient to meet the mark on the wine glasses! Black onyx dry aged porterhouse with eggplant purée mushroom and charred grape was spectacular
We have suggested to all our friends that for a 'date night', they go to E'cco. Many of them have told us that in many other so-called upmarket restaurants in Brisbane they have to yell at each other across the table to be heard. Many thanks to Dillon for informing the restaurant of our requirement to spend a little longer - we were celebrating an anniversary - and for Tom for providing absolutely first-class service. Congratulations.
First visit since E'cco moved from CBD location - location much better, easier access, parking. Food was usual high standard however service on the night was slow - both being seated and food service. Busy Saturday night and maybe understaffed in kitchen and front of house for that night? Would certainly go again as food is very good.
