We had excellent service from the time we arrived till the time we left. We took advantage of the weekend brunch specials. The food was very tasty . Would recommend this Earls to my friends
Happy hour menu was a great value. Food was good and the service was excellent. Restaurant was full, so the noise level was quite high. Definitely not a private setting
Great experience. I’d recommend it.
Our waitress was fantastic! She made sure not only to check for allergies but make accommodations for mine. The food and drinks were good and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place near campus that’s not fast food.
We went to console a co worker. Great variety of food, and if you come before the rush it will be hot and ready in no time.
It’s hard to talk it’s so loud
Food and wine were both top notch. Service was attentive and the server was very pleasant. Always enjoy my time at Earl’s!
If we could this experience would be a zero. Working at the UofA and being close to this location we were looking for a place to unwind at the end of semester. We booked a reservation, arrived early, and had a time constraint. To be honest, we should have known better as this location is more miss than hit. However, our experience on Monday was particularly horrible. Members of our group arrived early for our reservation and were seated on the regular dinning side very quickly. The space was fairly quiet from normal 'peak' times. There were 8 of us that arrived in two wave, and everyone was arrived and was seated within five minutes of our original reservation time. Despite this, it took a collective 20 minutes until our complete drink order arrived. At 24 minutes and after only two visits by our waiter we needed to loudly announce (so that he could hear) that we were in need of service and assistance. At this point we had 36 minutes until we needed to leave. We therefore asked the waiter if this was enough time to get appetizers and sandwiches, and we were assured that it would be. We asked for the bills so that we could pay and simply eat when the food was ready. 15 minutes after we ordered, the waiter returned to 'clarify' two guest's items (which had been clearly communicated to him during the ordering process). We didn't see the waiter again until he returned with the bills 15 min later. At this point we asked for all of our meals to be packed up, and one member of our group cancelled her order. Everything went really down the drain from here. It took 50 min from the time of ordering for those who paid for food to have something in hand (not always what was ordered). We asked to speak with the manager (whom had been chatting with our waiter in the back) and were told by the waiter that we couldn't. Finally, we made enough of a fuss for the manager to come out and were told that he would have the GM contact us, five days now and no follow up
Great for a girl’s night out!
I love this Earls as it is by the campus and has great specials. However, our waitress could have been a bit more attentive and she seemed disinterested in helping us until it was time for us to pay. It's quite noisy, but I don't mind because everything else is usually great!
Parking pricy but our server was amazing. He was very accommodating and checked back. Hostess lovely as well. Food awesome.
Please fire your hostess. Had a reservation, and let her know, she said she would seat us right away. Then we stood for over 10 minutes waiting, while she sat 4 other tables (all walk-ins) We had to go up to her and say we had a reservation, and then she said she thought she already sat us... even though we were right in front of her.
Server was great.
Our server was amazing. Thank you for making our celebration with friends a wonderful evening.
This was our first date in three years, I chose this location because of the fact that the ratings were high and generally because it gave me a brief chance to meet my boyfriends coworkers. I will not lie, the food was extremely disappointing, I’m sorry but NOBODY wants a cold burger and fries. The one thing that I was really impressed with was the fact that my allergies were actually brought into consideration. The servers were nice, extremely upbeat and man were they smiley.
Mind you, I think they need more higher ups on the floor furring busy times because it looks insanely bad on the restraint when you’re only spoken to when your glad was empty. By the time a server had come back to say anything to us, our food was gone. Wait times were alright because of the fact that I had a reservation.
Generally, over all the quality and friendliness of the staff was ok, but there’s some minor things that could be changed. I’ll be back, that’s for sure. But maybe make sure my food isn’t cold.
Leticia was a wonderful server! So cheerful and sweet!
It was amazing because I used to work at Earls and service and food was AMAZING!!!
Meal was excellent. The server we had was wonderful and very accomodating.
very good overall. exactly what you would expect from an Earls
Earls on Campus always accommodates our large groups for lunch! The food is always arrives fast and is delicious! It is our go to restaurant to celebrate work birthdays!!!
One of the meals came not as ordered and one of the meals did not come, until manager came out and said it would be 7 minutes and free. Actually took about 10 minutes to come out. We appreciated the manager taking these items off our bill. There were fruit flies buzzing around our table the whole time we were eating. Our water glasses were empty most of the time and our waitress mostly avoided us after messing up the order.Turned off of Earl's on Campus. Tried twice to make a reservation on our way over (online) and it kept saying that they'ed only hold the reservation for 4 minutes. When we got there it was mostly empty. Not a good experience.
After almost an hour waiting for three appetizers, we were told there were only two line cooks. It would have been nice to know that before we ordered. They were obviously short staffed overall. Probably the worst experience I've had at this Earl's in a long time.
Staff was great. Food was under cooked but it was taken care of on my bill. Restaurant is very noisy and hard to have a conversation
The food was amazing, drinks were great but our server was a little too preoccupied with his table of friends in the restaurant. He also didn’t let us know there was a happy hour until we paid our bills.
Basically, Earl's is the only decent place on UAlberta's campus to take visiting scholars. The menu is predictable and has a nice range of choices. The kitchen is fine, it's nice to have seasonal change, though they often cross-contaminate the gluten-free in the fryers. The wine is terrible (especially the Rascal series); they don't offer espresso or capuccino or flat white or anything but brewed coffee. The service is usually very good, but it's mostly by emaciated, anorexic-looking young women. The decor is attractive, but the hard surfaces mean it's a very noisy place. Earl's is a busy spot because the service is fine, the menu predictable, the decor decent but mostly because the competition is over on 109 St and people often don't have time for the hike (Upper Crust, Rosso, Sugar Bowl), and because the Faculty Club is even further, and rather stodgy (but improving). If Earl's would up their game on the wine, coffee, and noise, I would rank it in the 4s, and if the the hiring policy for servers was less body-negative, it might even get a 5. The bike parking is inadequate.
Service and food were lovely, but we had made a reservation for 5 in advance as we expected it to be busy due to the convocation ceremonies that day, but I had expected to get a proper table, especially since we had pre-booked it. Instead, we got two round high tables that were pushed together so sharing food, fitting everything on the awkwardly shaped 'communal' space and having a conversation was difficult because the space was so awkward to navigate. I would have really expected a proper table for 5 with a reservation, not what seemed like an improvised and bad solution.
We arrived at 5:00 with a reservation and finally got our food at 6:20. It was a Sunday evening. Manager was apologetic and made it up to us, but this was disappointing overall. Don’t go if you have to be at a show, even if you allow 2 full hours to eat and an extra 1/2 hour to get to the Jubilee.
Waited over 1.5 hrs for food. Place was half full! Forgot food. Over cooked and dry upon arrival. Waitress kept disappearing? but I tipped anyway...🙄
Prices have gone up significantly and are no longer reasonable. Vegan items are the same price or more expensive than the same items with meat-how do you justify that? Tofu tacos were $15.50 with no sides, that’s $3 more than the alternative with chicken or fish! Service was scattered but friendly. I was charged for items I didn’t request, i suspect that’s because the server misheard as it was VERY loud in the restaurant. I noticed that the payment machines have been adjusted so you tip a minimum of 16% now...that’s really pushing it considering the increased price of food and the fact that we were there for nearly 90 minutes for what should have been a fairly quick lunch.
We went to have dinner prior to an event at the theater. Food was well done, didn't have to wait long. Service was excellent and he was very attentive. Would definitely eat here again.
Very friendly service and an excellent burger! Interesting wine list as well. The atmosphere was a combination of fine dining and sports bar.
Was basically fine - service was very good - but several things have been taken off the menu that used to be available (and very good - e.g. the warm kale salad). Now there are too many offerings with seafood - the harvesting of which is very bad for the environment.
We had our book club meeting and loved it. Although the service could have been better. we all had empty drinks for quite a while and waited almost 45 mins for our server to take a food order.
My co-workers and I eat here often. Food always arrives quick and is consistently good. We always make a reservation and get in right away.
We had pizza and burgers and they did not disappoint. This location was very busy and loud at 5 pm, so if you go right after work, make a reservation!
The restaurant it's self was great, my only complaint was the expense of parking at $14 for two hours at the Impark next-door… On a Sunday no less. If I had planned ahead brother I would've driven to another Earls, but for those within walking distanceit's a great spot.
Food very slow to arrive.
Soup and pizza both almost cold when finally arrived. Had to be reissued!
The very slow service was the same as last time we came to this restaurant.
The attentive service by our waitress was wonderful. We sat on the dining side of the restaurant for our business meeting. Perfect.
