Dinghy of Clam Chowder
From the Pier Restaurant in Newport, Rhode Island, birthplace of Duke himself. Lopez Island Creamery chocolate and espresso ice cream layered in a cookie crust with all natural chocolate sauce, homemade whipped cream and topped with toasted almonds

Love Duke's and happy to see a few local restaurants still hanging in there.
Fabulous view, great service, delicious food, great attention to safety guidelines.
Anniversary. Sad to see the usual candle on the table, not sure how that is part of the Covid safety. Waiter was FABULOUS!! Pre-dinner cocktails were not as good as they usually are, pretty weak. Salmon bites weren’t as crispy as we thought they’d be.
We went to celebrate a birthday. The wait staff were very accommodating. My favorite item to order at Duke’s is the fish taco combo. The taco had so much sauce on it that it dripped out all over the plate and made the tortilla soggy. The sauce drowned out the flavor of the lightly blackened fish. I will count this as an anomaly for Duke’s and go back again. The place was very clean and social distancing was observed.
As always service and food excellent. Staff very careful and considerate regarding COVID.
Good food, great and quick service and nice location.
Great place to watch a football game! Our waiter was excellent!
Love this place. So sad to see that it can't be opened up at a 100%!
Dukes is always a favorite! My husband had some business partners in from out of town and they loved it. The special was fantastic!
Thank you so much!
We went during the wildfire apocolypse and so no view at all but it was so nice to get out for our anniversary! We shared the salmon bites for an appetizer and they were great. My chowder was good but the classic which my husband got was better, highly recommend. The crab salad was nice but the crab was really bland so I suspect recently frozen which was disappointing. Service was fantastic.
Great! Waitress was awesome. Food came out quickly. So nice to get out!
Great service! Food was fine nothing extraordinary. Following Covid protocols
Food was delicious and service was amazing!
Another great dining experience at Dukes today. Tried the Coco prawn appetizer, delicious. For entree I had the Stuffed Halibut and it was cooked perfectly & tasted so good. Ordered a dingy of Lobster chowder and enjoyed that as well. My favorite chowder is still the original though, just can’t beat that one.
Duke’s is my FAVE on Ruston Way!!! EVERYTHING I’ve had has been FABULOUS!! Appetizers, drinks, entrees, sandwiches, salads, desserts... and, of course, the sourdough bread!!
I am NEVER disappointed!!
And the same goes for the service!
Top notch all the way around!
Thank you, Duke’s crew, for ALWAYS taking great care of me and my peeps when we come in!!
And I LOVE LOVE LOVE Duke’s cookbook, too!!!
We love Duke’s! Love the food, the atmosphere and the staff! Wade is an amazing waiter and always makes us feel welcome and provides excellent service!
Always love our meals at Duke's. I had my favorite, Stuffed and Puffed Prawns. My husband ordered stuffed salmon but had stuffed halibut delivered instead. He would have been happy with that, but they insisted on replacing it with the salmon and then took it off our bill. Such excellent service! You can't go wrong with Dukes!
Since shut down we go at least once a month and have great service and food.
This time the service was lacking (watched the waiter have a non-work related conversation with another employee while we watched and waited for our bill) the food was "off" too.
Dukes is our favorite and go-to restaurant for all special occasions, and anytime we're in the mood for beautiful food in a relaxed and casual environment.
View outside on the deck was great, and our server was also excellent. Food was decent, but not spectacular (no excuse for dry salmon when the lunch was $168 for two after tip). I do admit the marionberry pie was fantastic. All in all, we'll stick with our reliable favorite (we normally go to Anthony's but thought we'd try something different this time).
Delightful staff and setting outside. Food was fine, but not spectacular. I think it may have gone downhill recently. Drinks okay, but again, not anything special. Will go again for a beer and snack, but not a gourmet meal.
Food was disappointing for the price point. Almost resembled a childhood meal at skippers
Exceptional service and exceptional food. We were also lucky enough to get a wonderful seat on the deck! Go Duke’s go!
Our family has a bunch of people who need to eat gluten free. Duke’s is our go to restaurant because of al the choices and the clearly marked menus.
Save room for the gluten free carrot cake.
This was a great experience. Good food, great views right on the water (Commencement Bay). Wonderful staff
A good place to go with friends or family
great food, large selection of items. We sat outdoors and it was perfect weather. Our wait person was excellent. Overall a great time.
Wonderful evening at Dukes on the Tacoma Waterfront!!!
We have always loved Duke's, but the last 2 times we have been there, it's been below par.
The blackened rockfish, just wasn't good. The crab dip was 'runny'. The calamari strips were good. The fish and chips, I THOUGHT had panko in beer batter, but it was just breaded. Also, just okay. Even the marionberry cobbler, was boring. NOT SURE what happened to my favorite restaurant, but we won't be going back, unfortunately.
* chicken tender appetizer was over-cooked & dry
* calamari appetizer was slightly under cooked
* the chicken served with the All Hail Caesar salad was dry
Nice weather to enjoy the outside. Service was great and the staff was very accomodating
We had a wonderful experience from the moment we walked in. The ambiance, the service and the delicious entree's will have us returning as often as possible!
This was our second trip to Duke's in the past month and it surpassed the first, which was amazing. Our server, Wade, was incredible...personable, helpful, funny, knowledgeable and professional. The original chowder was beyond delicious. The macadamia-encrusted halibut is my go-to now...simply amazing. The special was a pan-seared halibut that was a bit sweeter but extremely good as well. The bloody Marys were incredible. And of course, spending time with loved ones on the water on a lovely August evening...WOW. Absolutely love this place!
Beautiful view and scrumptious lunch. My salmon was very tasty. Thanks!
We sat on the deck and very pleasant. The server was also very pleasant wearing a mask and keeping safe distance. The rock fish tacos were great..
We love the chowder, but their rock fish tacos and unchopped seafood salad are our favorites. Great desserts too. I recommend the carrot cake.
Great service and both entrees were amazing. I had the stuffed prawns and my friend had the halibut special. We were both very happy with our choices. Our server was awesome and helpful. Definitely, will be coming back.
We each had one of the specialty salads. Very good! We also tried a sampler of the chowders and the deviled egg appetizer. Everything was delicious.
Even if you make a reservation I’d suggest getting there early if you want to sit outside. Food was tasty, service was good. Looking out over the water made for an awesome dining experience.
The food and service was great but I think it was a little expensive for what we got
Always worth the visit! We went for our anniversary and were as happy as ever.
