Surprises are great, and so is The Duck Inn.

Ratings 8.0-8.5:The best way to think about restaurants in the low to mid 8′s is that these are the places you would absolutely go back to, anytime. We went to brunch for Father’s Day. Everything was delicious. The menu was full of unique takes on brunch standards. I had a ribeye steak and eggs with duck fat potatoes and hearty slice of multi grain toast. My wife had the sausage and egg sandwich which was delicious especially with the addition of freshly shaved truffles. One of my children had the “Fried Baloney Sandwich “ made with high quality Mortadella. The room is small and can get a little loud, but the experience was great

We ordered the duck ahead of time and it was probably the most amazing thing we had off the menu. Great mix of cocktails-interesting mixes but pricey. Disappointed with the cheese plate. It was only one kind of cheese with pickled vegetables. Everything else was good. Duck fat hot dog, hamachi, octopus, Brussels sprouts, gnocchi, the duck, and THE DESSERT. All good.

It was a little loud but it was a great time in a tucked away part of town. Highly recommend

Our primary server, food runners and other staff were very pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. We appreciated the good service and enjoyed all the dishes we shared. The rotisserie duck, gnocchi, and duck wings were standouts.

I also loved the Tusk & Temper cocktail. If I didn’t have to work in the morning I would have had a few more.

Lastly, whomever decided to place the (AFKA) Prince symbol on the restroom doors deserves a big raise and or an eponymous cocktail!

I’ve been to Duck Inn a handful of times and have really enjoyed myself, this time no different! The menu has some staples and some seasonal items, most of which are shareable between 2-3 people so it’s a great place to try new things. Service is always prompt and polite and the food is outstanding. Lots of elevated spins on pub food classics. A great place to have a gathering with friends or for date night.

It was much louder than we expected, perhaps because our first visit was not on a weekend evening. Service was also quite a bit slower, because the kitchen was slammed. Food was excellent.

Very unique place. Don’t let the location influence your decision to go. The food was outstanding. We tried several apps and then shared 3 entrees for 5 people and everything was delicious. I’d recommend sitting on the patio. One suggestion would be to put cushions on the benches we sat on under the awning. Benches were pretty skinny and a bit hard but atmosphere inside and out was great. We’ll definitely go back to try the duck rotisserie I also hear brunch is great.

I came here with a friend for MDW brunch. It was slow and quiet which showed with the interaction with the hostess but the bartender and server were bubbly and welcoming. I got to try the roasted duck which was amazing.

We sat outside and the ambiance was lovely. Food quality, presentation, and service was very good. However, the restaurant is overpriced. We shared one octopus appetizer, shared one rotisserie duck, shared one bowl of 2 small scoops of ice cream for dessert, one expresso, and one coffee. The bill came to $101, but the restaurant charged $15 additional in tax ( per the restaurant, this tax charge includes an extra 3 % surcharge above the usual Chicago sales tax that this restaurant adds to "provide health insurance to the employees"!). This amounts to 15% tax that this restaurant is charging! They also added this additional "health insurance tax" to drinks! $150 for 2 people seems high for what we ordered and for the location of the restaurant.

Dinner for six extended family members. Amazing food and drink, great, informal, almost neighborhood atmosphere, and our servers were terrific. We were originally seated on the patio--which would be lovely in warmer, less windy weather--but our server moved us inside when we asked, no problem, no questions. Sunday Industry Night: great music, a little loud, had to shout sometimes to be heard across the table, but that eased up as soon as a loud and large but very happy party cashed out.

Get at least one duck.

A new place for us, one well-worth the hour long drive in from the burbs for the rotisserie duck board; clearly there is a creative hand in the kitchen when offerings include sweetbreads and hamachi tartare. Our waiter Jerrell was helpful, pointing out what we needed to know without info overload. Next time we will know to ask for seating in the quieter back brick room. Wine list well-matched to food offerings, but unnecessarily high-priced. Peanut butter creme anglaise did not add to the enjoyment of textbook panne cotta; chocolate beignet mimicked flourless cake. All together, a good find!

This was our third visit- each time with a different set of dining companions. We were celebrating a job offer and the spirited experience stThe Duck Inn was perfect. We had the escargot on a crepe, the duck dog, and cheese curds to start, then two duck dinners, followed by honey panna cotta for dessert. Great cocktails, beer, and after dinner drinks. Service is fabulous. The only “negative” is the noise level. Otherwise great ambiance. Also easy street parking.
