In addition to the global menu, we also offer classic Chinese favourites such as the Xiao Long Bao, Prawn & Ginger dumplings and Gua Baos including Char Sui Pork and Smokey Szechuan Chicken - paying homage and respecting the art and history of dumplings.
Using locally produced and sustainably sourced ingredients of the highest quality, Drumplings delivers something entirely new to the Melbourne food scene – an unforgettable taste sensation never before experienced
Ordered 2x dishes. One dish came and said the other would follow. 20 minutes later after being ignored by wait staff they went to check on it. Another 10 minutes later come back and say it will be another 10 minutes. At this stage the other party had already finished their food so cancelled the order and walked out.
Absolutely amazing food, ambience and service! Could not fault anything here! We did the bottomless brunch option & it was definitely value for money!
Ambience was interesting. Neon lights and fake plants. Food was average. Wasn’t expecting a lot from the signature dumplings because they were bound to be weird and just a novelty (cheeseburger dumpling was a trip...) but even the traditional dumplings were not good. The main floor manager kept hurrying us out as well and we did have a large number of our party be very late but we still ordered for our entire party in a timely manner and we would still be out by the allocated time but he kept reminding us of the time and even brought the party that was arriving at 7:30 to our table at 7:20 saying to them that this would be their table when these people leave. It was not a pleasant dining experience but the waitress we had most of our interaction with was lovely and understanding. Would not recommend and I can see this place shutting down within the year after the novelty has worn off.
Great dumplings, fast service and great price, easy to book for the group - will come back
Yummy dumplings and great variety in the menu. Would highly recommend the chicken boa buns and mushroom dumplings. We also had the lemon meringue dumplings for desert? The citrus curd was delicious however combined with the dumpling pastry wasn’t a success. I would not order the dumplings again from the desert menu
Absolute favourite place to go in the CBD. Celebrated my birthday here with friends. Staff sang happy birthday and were very friendly! Love it, will keep coming back!
Great casual dinner
Love the cheeseburger dumplings
A little bit on the loud side so better for a younger crowd
So good! Really enjoyed the dinner and drinks. Setting us up in the courtyard made iit a little less noisy and really cosy with the heaters on. Would definitely recommended anyone looking for good food, good vibes, outstanding service.
Very crowded and tables were so close together it was hard to have a conversations. The food portions were quite small and over priced.
Had the most amazing time at drumplings on Saturday night! It was a surprise for my dad as an early fathers day and everyone in our group left wanting to go again! Food was incredible across all the dishes we had and staff were so so lovely!! Thank you so much drumplings! Will definitely recommend!
the wait was quite long for both being seated and food coming out, but that was understandable on a busy sunday afternoon. servers were friendly but service was very slow. a lot of order mistakes were being made for tables around us as well, and kitchen was out of menu items and it was only 12pm.
food portions were smaller than expected and did not surprise or delight in terms of quality. I felt it was definitely not worth the price, an hour wait at $85 for 2 people that left still hungry. It was a fun novelty but I wouldn't go back again.
This is the first time that I have been to drumplings on a weekend and the customer service was disgraceful.
Our first drinks order didn’t arrive and then our food order was lost in the kitchen
We waited over a hour and a half to receive our first dumplings that were just dumped on the table with no explaining of the contents
Other customers where leaving as no one even came to take their orders
A total shambles on Sunday 25/08/2019
Not sure I will ever return
I’m so sad to be writing a negative review regarding the service we received on Sunday 27th August.
My friend was visiting from interstate and I had excitedly told him I’d take him to try cheeseburger dumplings. We arrived at 12:30 to find that the place was fairly busy but I had a reservation and so we got given a table by the window which was lovely. My friend had to leave the city at 2pm to get a plane but being 1230 we had allowed enough time for some dumplings and Convo before he had to leave.
We ordered a round of drinks and decided on some dumplings to share (3 pax).
We then sat for 20 mins and finally got attention of a waiteress and ordered and then seemed to wait what felt like ages for for any food to come to our table... what struck me as odd was we had ordered Nutella dumplings for “dessert” and yet they got bought out first. We shrugged it off and decided to eat them whilst still hot. They are delicious! We got chatting and then Matt anxious checked his watch to see it had been around 1/2 hour and we hadn’t received anything more that we had ordered (7 more types of dumplings) so we asked a waiter to follow it up for us.
We then received no communication but patiently waited. We received 2 more trays of dumplings about 10 mins later and devoured them (they were tasty but all crumbled). We assumed the rest would be out soon but nothing more came out. We then had a chef or waiter ask us what we had ordered and what we had received to the table already. The lack of communication was so stressful.
We waited thinking that we would received our next dumplings soon after but nothing.
I reasked the waitress how much longer they may be as if they are any longer we must leave and should cancel our order (it’s now 1:45 so a whole hour and 15 mins since arrival) she replied that she was still checking up on it all and would let us know.
Finally it’s 1:55pm and we get told they would be about 20mins. The girl hadn’t been on shift long but was so understanding
I unfortunately would not recommend Drumplings to a friend solely because of how rude the staff were to each other their guests. We were greeted I assume by the restaurant or service manager with a ‘oh your the late commers’, which is understandable to be a bit annoyed but is it really worth pointing it out? We had to embarrassingly laugh it off and were already put out because we were 7 minutes late to dinner. There was no line up of people waiting to eat but it was busy so I will give them that, it felt like we were instantly not welcome. Like sorry we can leave now and find another restaurant who would be happy to serve a large group, we persevered as we were told the food was very good. Once seated the girl who took our order was lovely and another male staff was great as well but least 80% of the staff were aggressive when dropping food off to our table of 9. We were wanting to clarify what food was being dropped off as a few people on our table do not eat meat however, when we asked these questions we were answered once with ‘I will ask the chef’ and the other times with ‘you will figure it out on your own’ and another time with and aggressive ‘it’s for the table’, and that’s only if they even acknowledged the question. We also experienced one staff member lean inbetween two of our group members to grab some chopsticks without saying anything, while swiping them from
The table dropping multiple chopsticks on their heads. Not a single excuse me, sorry, apologies and even whoops was heard. We were waiting on more food as the kitchen staff were quite backed up however, one staff member without saying anything started aggressively grabbing the plates and utensils from in front of us and when I said ‘sorry we are just waiting on a few more dishes’ he answered with and abrupt ‘why didn’t you say that before’. To anyone going thinking of going there the food reasonably good however the experience and the general vibe is incredibly off putting.
Great food, but very noisy and not comfortable on big middle table. Appreciate gluten free options.
Great food and service. We went as a group of five including two teenagers and everyone loved it. Really fun concept and well executed!
Such awesome service especially the waiter to greeted us! And the food was amazing!
Really great food. We were a little disappointed that we were unable to get the toastie. Seems to be the only small problem with coming here is each time we have come there’s been a menu item that they have been out of that we wanted to try. Besides this those, food and service are great!
We've been before and this time we came back with friends. We absolutely love it and love that they cater for vegans too!
Great food and service as always at Drumplings!
Fun atmosphere to be a part of and enjoy some delicious dumplings and yummy cocktails.
Will be back soon and always recommend to friends and family.
This is the third time I’ve returned to eat at Drumplings and I honestly cannot get enough. I just keep bringing more friends along!
Really great food! Lord the truffle mushroom dumplings and the crispy chicken buns. In fact everything was fabulous!
Too noisy. Otherwise, food and service way above average.
We did a girls bottomless brunch here it was fantastic would defo recommend it 👌
Atmosphere was great! Great as a social spot for dinner, drinks etc. However I got the mac and cheese dumplings and they were terrible. Maybe traditional dumplings are more my thing but I didnt try them here. I also found it annoying that they didn't want to split the bill between 3 of us. I'd go back, however would try something different net time.
Food was delicious, seriously try everything. Atmosphere was great, book if you have a large group of people. Alcoholic tea.... Yes please.
loved it. recommended by a friend and will recommend on to my friends. something familiar with an unexpected twist. great for a girls lunch or dinner with people visiting from out of town to impress them. can't wait to come back
I am a sucker for a dumpling and when I saw their not so traditional dumpling menu I was keen to try. We booked early and it was packed. We worked our way through most of the menu and both their traditional and non traditional dishes were excellent. They were short staffed but the staff were friendly.
Best meal EVER! Love you Drumplings! Will recommend to everyone.
Food and drinks were unbelievable.
Service was great too
We went for the chef's selection menu and were not disappointed! Dumplings we're super tasty (with some unique flavours) and the service was fantastic, definitely coming back here ☺️
We went for Bottomless Brunch on a Saturday morning at 11:15, one of our guests arrived 30 mins late. The staff were fantastic and very accommodating. We only were meant to have the table for 2 hours but spend well over 2:30-3 hours due to our late arrival. The food was fantastic, only criticism is that it came out all at once. Since we had a bottomless brunch package, extra time in between servings to allow for the food to be eaten and more drinks to be served would have been ideal. The serving of drinks took 15-20mins after each order but it was still fantastic value for money and we managed 7-8 rounds within our time there. I would highly recommend coming right at 11am to make the most of the 2 hour brunch package. I will come back for it again!
The food was AMAZING! The service really let down the restaurant. We ordered drinks that never arrived and no one cleared our dishes after we had finish for about half an hour, and they never came back to see if we wanted dessert or the bill.
Such friendly staff and knowledgeable about the menu.
Great fusion food. However, the wait for the soup was too long while the other food came on time. Made it a bit awkward at the table.
Great service and lots of laughter. Food was well done and a great place to take friends for something unusual
Drumplings offers unusual dumplings and baus and interesting drinks. The seating is uncomfortable on the garden furniture down the middle of the room.
The meal was generally good, with some interesting choices of unique dumplings on offer. Service was nice in general and attentive: however, we were directed to sit at a table missing a chair and it was unclear what we were meant to do. The music was way too loud and I couldn’t hear the person I was dining with.
Great place and great service. I tried most of the dumplings and some stick to each other and cannot hold it without breaking them which becomes a mess. Taste is pretty good, what I loved was the chicken bao! Prawn bao doesn’t worth it though.
Couldn’t recommend Drumplings enough! The venue is beyond beautiful, the vibe is fun and fresh! Staff were incredibly friendly, Hudson was so accommodating with our table and made our experience 100 x better. Libby served our table and she was so sweet. Food is delishous and unique, unlike anywhere else I have been! 11/10 for drumplings, will be coming back again and again and again!
