Doyles on the Beach
The restaurant internationally famous and a mecca for Sydneysiders and tourists alike, offering a stunning range of fresh seafood for lunch and dinner, 7 days a week.
Dinner: Daily: 5:30pm - 9:00pm
Food and service could not be faulted. We found the serving sizes so generous we could easily have shared entrees and mains. Had no room left for dessert. The restaurant and rest rooms were clean.
Why book online when your still have to call to confirm the booking? Food and service really gone down hill but prices remain high. It's a shame to see an old institution on it's way out.
Not a good value for the price paid. One dish out of three was not what we ordered.
I have been going to Doyles at Watsons Bay for 68 years! It never fails to please, although I was disappointed to see prawn cutlets removed from the menu. Unique. Also the tartare sauce has changed and so has the seafood sauce. Thankfully the plum sauce is still available. Bring those back please. They were Alice’s recipe and were superb.
Fantastic view of downtown Sydney from across the bay. Amazing Australian paella with a wine list to match.
Tip: take the water taxi at Rose Bay to Watsons Bay right at sunset. Doyles will be right in front of the pier.
Went to Doyle's on the Beach to celebrate a special birthday. The bookings were made easily and very prompt. The service by the waiters was excellent, very prompt and polite. The food was excellent and had great seating. Would reccomend this restaurant to everyone wanting a special moment.
Wait staff were very inexperienced
We were the only people in the main dining area.....so no atmosphere are a bit cold evn
with the heaters
Pretty basic menu
Expensive... average mains around $50
Excellent quality seafood, simply and well prepared, in an iconic setting. A must do for locals and visitors alike. Just don't expect Masterchef style pretension.
Our waiter, Nelson, was attentive & fun.
The food was lovely.
Winter special is great value.
Thank you for the birthday wine given to us. Hope to visit again soon.
Lunch was very fresh and tasty with great views if you don’t like fish this place is not for you
A fantastic lunch experience, food ans service was as expected.....
Great water views and of the city. Not a great choice of seafood to choose from. Very expensive to have fish and chips. It would have been a nice touch for someone to say happy birthday.
Mid winter evening so perhaps not the best time to eat at Doyles...also more expensive than expected for Fish and Chip tea...
Easy to make a reservation on line. Quality staff and food, great setting.
Stunning view on a beautiful winter's sun day, garlic prawns were amazing, loved the hot sourdough cob loaf and the pan fried John Dory just melted in your mouth.
Beautiful view, excellent seafood, surprisingly large (multi) dining room setup. A must try for any Sydney-sider!
i thought it was over priced for what we had .......but nice view
Our fish meals were delicious and our table waiter was fab, thanks Nelson! The floor manager was less than impressive however, over and again we noticed her lack of care or attention to detail. Still would recommend Doyles at Watsons Bay, its an institution and worth the drive (from Newcastle) and view, as well as good food!
Doyles at Watson's bay has been a long time favourite of mine since first visiting Sydney in 1969 and the quality of the cuisine has never varied. An amazing place to take business partners knowing that you won't leave disappointed - or hungry!!
Definitely a must for your bucket list if you haven't eaten there before!
Good location, nice looking restaurant, food was nice but nothing spectacular, as such it was quite overpriced.
A trip to Sydney must always include lunch at Doyle’s - unfortunately this is no longer the case. The food was average at best and in general so were the staff with the exception of 1. We will not be making this a must on future trips to Sydney, very disappointing.
Excellent service and accommodating request. Ordered a cake which was delicious and beautifully presented. Inside was very comfy even though a cold, wet day. Parking on site a bonus. Food was fresh and met expectations for taste although top end price. Surf and turf wasn't very big and only had 1 prawn. All sauces were very tasty. Will return in summer via ferry, such a long drive!
Overall, Our lunch was wonderful . Thank you Doyle's staff, you were lovely.
We were visiting from Auckland and couldn't have had a more perfect day. Thanks Doyles for also organising the stunning weather. But seriously...from the moment we arrived until we left the table was beachfront....the service was first class and warm without being intrusive...the wine was recommended and excellent...and the food was everything we hoped it would be.
Service was outstanding, disappointed in the limited seafood selection.
Very expensive for what you got, not worth the money
Beautiful location, food was delicious & so fresh. Great service by very friendly waitress.
I would recommend this as a great venue for overseas guests or just an amazing lunch experience.
Thank you we had a fabulous day. We had overseas family visiting from the UK, first time to Australia. The weather was magnificent , we caught the ferry over from McMahon's Point to Doyles at Watson Bay and everything about the day was perfect.
We shared a couple of entrees and the Paella. The food was well prepared and the Paella very interesting. The service could have definitely been better. Not one smile from the moment we sat down to the end and if I have to be honest not very professional either. Overall we had a good experience though.
A very enjoyable afternoon. Great food. Great location. Recommended
Have dined at this restaurant on only four very special occasions and never disappoints.
Great location and food.Service and staff have been exceptional on each visit.
I believe the family presence and involvement in the day to day operations to be the key.
Excellent venue for special lunches/dinner at an iconic location!!!
Always great, we have been here many times, even though we live 500kms from Sydney. This time a fun train and ferry boat ride with our daughter’s family, aged one, three and five. We even saw the seaplanes landing. We all loved our meals. Great staff. Thank you.
Doyle's is always a great place to eat. My favourite is the whiting and chips. Yum.
The venue and ambience was excellent as was the service. We ordered the seafood platter for two which we felt was below average for the price we paid.
Awesome view , atmosphere , and food !
Service was good. Views brilliant. Food ordinary for the price.
Outstanding service and freshness of fish and salad. We had scollops and oysters for entree - fresh tasty outstanding presentation.
Swordfish fillets and whole snapper were the mains. Again so full of flavor and awesome salad and presentation
We had a delightful lunch.
The food was excellent, though an expensive meal. I booked the table and as this was our first time I didn’t know where to ask for. We were shown upstairs, nice but no atmosphere and the windows are big but we were on the second row of tables from the window so couldn’t really see out. One of the reasons we went was because we thought we would be looking out over the water.
I’ve been now, not sure I need to go back.
Food did not live up to the reputation. Very over rated.
