Great food service and view
Had a very nice day out and would definitely go again
The reputation of DOYLES far exceeded the quality of the food. Very, very disappointing. If that is how DOYLES want to operate, then that is fine, but the prices should be cut in half.
very disappointing experience, had to wait over half an hour for food to arrive, and when it did was sub par, chips were awful, barramundi portion was small, very inflated prices for bad quality food. Had better seafood at the local fish shop. Not worth it at all.
We were luck enough to get a sensational table for two to celebrate my girlfriends birthday right out the front on a gorgeous sunday lunch time and everything was perfect will we return to Doyles Watsons Bay in the near future thanks again Billy Duff.
View is wonderful! Excellent food! Very nice time thanks, although two of the party of four had a wall view with a toilet sign pointing to the right, sooooooooo maybe do something a bit more creative with that? Otherwise very nice.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Doyle’s with a beautiful seafood platter and magnificent view. Service was very good and a very relaxed atmosphere.
Great lunch. Food was good lady waitress was really good. The male was a bit pushy.
Great food complimented by great views and wonderful service
Doyle’s on the beach has a very relaxing ambience .
The beach , the water, the boats, the Harbourview - and a perfect summers night . -not to mention fresh seafood and quality dishes .
Loved it and will return !
Have the oyster plate! It is outstanding. I didn't know you could have a Virgin Mary Oyster Shooter. Doyles has kept the fabulous stuffed prawns on their menu for thirty years. It is still a cutting edge dish. People say to me Doyles is just a fish restaurant. I say -What a fish restaurant and it has the best view in Sydney.
Seafood Platter was not what we expected, after been going to Doyles for the past 40 years. Very disappointed.
An outstanding experience as always, delicious food, excellent service, outstanding location and views.
Excellent service from our very friendly and efficient table waitress First call lunch
Good overall. The service was good and helped us to get some shade and very nice during the meal. Just pointing out that there was more fried food than expected in the hold/cold platter, too bad. Also, there was a worm on the melon.
It's am iconic venue and we have been many times over the years for special occasions. I am ok to pay a extra for what is really excellent fish /seafood. No a great fan of the DJ pumping out the music. Not really music to dine with? Also I think they could enforce some dress standards. I'm not a prude and I am Ok with a decent pair of shorts and a T Shirt. But when the guy on the next table has the old blue singlet on (more at home on a shearing shed) it not great.
We had such a lovely night with delicious food, excellent service and very nice ambience.
We had a very special and memorable evening. Thank you to all.
Hope to visit again very soon.
Previously been to the restaurant disappointed in the Hot and cold seafood platter. No lobster , no bugs more chips and battered fish that makes up platter. Very expensive for what you pay.
Iconic venue great service but have had better seafood at other venues flatted and chips was average I've had much better and the chips are nothing to write home about however, that day was very very busy so I'm sure there is room for improvement
The whole experience was great, from the moment we arrived on the beach until we left. The most outstanding feature was the staff who managed to find a perfect balance between attentive and intrusive.
Lovely restaurant food was great and it has a lovely bar area with a great outlook on the beach would definitely visit again
The Fish and Chips are the best thing at Doyles and it's always lovely to sit in this idyllic location overlooking Watson's Bay. This never fails to disappoint. Doyles is synonymous with great produce. It's a shame that the cooking isn't up to the same standard. My barramundi was lacking in flavour and seasoning. The cauliflower puree tasted more of potato. And the famous plum chilli sauce really needs a make-over, otherwise just use good ol' thai sweet chilli sauce. I expected more.
Great view, service good as always. Food disappointing.
We enjoyed a birthday lunch for my wife, great Service and fantastic location and views. Just a shame the lobster has been taken off of the hot and cold platter since our last visit
A Sydney Icon !
Lovely relaxed feel where you can enjoy a casual dinner and your children can play on the beach.
We have been coming to Doyle’s for over 33years. We first went there the day after our wedding day with friends who had come up from Melbourne. It has a casual feel but you still get that fine dining experience with the amazing views and the wonderful food. As always thanks Doyle’s
Terrible food, over priced and really pushy waiters would not recommend.
Excellent friendly and quick service. Seafood platter was good...
A little pricy in comparison the the range of seafood provided. Beautiful atmosphere...we sat right on the beach. Wait staff were friendly and helpful.
The food is always to die for, and the view cannot be beat. It is hands down my favourite place to dine in Sydney.
Nice food. Expensive for what it is. Excellent attentive service
I always love coming to Sydney to visit Doyles. The ambiance being right on the beach is wonderful. Even though it was sprinkling with rain it didn't dampen our day. We were well protected and had a promenade view of everything. The food was lovely, as expected. Couldn't fault anything. Thank you so much.
Everything was perfect except for the food.
My goodness! How on earth could anyone allow food to be served to customers like this.
Oysters and Garlic Bread were the highlights.
John dory tasteless and served in a huge mound of greens.
Crab and prawn pasta was a mess, watery, tasteless and the meat were small mushed up scraps.
My sons $55 steak seem to be the pick.
Such a shame as we are staying at the hotel and hoped for a super yum seafood meal.
For just under $400 for 2 adults a and older kids with NO wine , entrees and just 3 mains.
This was just bad form from such a trusted name in seafood.
Lovely location but overpriced for the quality of the food and service. We ordered the John Dory and Whiting fish and chips. The waitress while nice and attentive was not properly trained for the cost of the venue.
Seafood platter looked great, prawns average, lobster average
The ambience and view is obviously what you pay for. The salads were very meagre and poor. Mainly lots of greens with very little substance.
The white bait was dry and overcooked, and the calamari was the same. Very small quantities.
The staff did present my guest for her 96th birthday, a glass with icecream freckles and a candle, which was very much appreciated.
We go every year at Xmas and the food is always impeccable quality as is the service. This year unfortunately, we found the the oysters were really small ( they were lucky to fill a quarter of the shell) and were not value for money.
Are there new owners? W e have dined here many many times. However, this time will be the last time. The meals were horrible and over priced. A customer of over 50 years is lost.
The service was average not what you expect for this type of dining. The food was tasteless and nothing special and so over priced. We will not be dining here again. I say that to myself each time I go there but this time now I’ve written a review I will listen to myself and remind myself when I read this review. The only nice thing was the view. It was one of those dining experiences that you leave hungry and end up getting pizza afterwards. If your after a nice view go for a drink but don’t waste your time on the food. Get fish and chips from the cafe across the road and sit on the beach. It will save you a tone of $$ and no expectations of any kind of reasonable service.
As a very irregular occasion, it’s a good experience - not great, but good. Staff appeared a little disorganised, but mostly attentive; food was very nice, but not great; atmosphere and location was special.
Great ambiance, Bring the shoe string fries to the menu 🙌🙌
Great food, service was a little slow, but good when they were there. Surcharge is a rip off.
