Doyles on the Beach
The sunset is a must on a clear night.
Food has changed in quality from past years. Past years we have always gone as a family and ordered that platter, this year it was only 2 of us so maybe that’s why it felt a little different
One of our favorite places to dine out
Spectacular location on a beautiful clear night with good food and great company nothing better
I’m sorry, Doyle’s is a long time favourite and it’s still a great place to eat, but the fact that there were 5 small prices of lobster in the lobster Mornay in our expensive seafood platter is not what you would call value.
I would not order or recommend the lobster mornay in future.
Fantastic location- staff efficient and have personality!
Easily the most recommendable venue to enjoy that “ special “ night out but not so pretentious that you feel overwhelmed !
Fish had been frozen and cooked dry. Service poor. Weekend surcharges added to an already expensive meal for what it was.
Good tourist Venue. Lovely on a Sunny day. Food is very traditional. Fresh but tad boring.
Staff are lovely but inexperienced.
A Sydney must see, a beautiful location and an institution which must be experienced.
The food was excellent and fresh, the staff are friendly and helpful. I would like to recommend the restaurant to anyone who visits Watsons Bay.
Recommended by a friend, a nice trip by ferry out to a quiet spot on Watson’s Bay. Laid back lunch on water’s edge.
Great food and excellent location. Great for a special occasion.
We were recommended by work colleagues and it bettered our expectations. It was a very nice experience and topped off by the quality of the food.
We were perturbed after leaving our tip was only in cents rather than dollars - I went back and paid cash - it was a deserving compliment as we were in Sydney on our 40th wedding anniversary
Thank you again
Great thanks - loved it - will be back .........::
The night sky , ambience , food were just great ! What made our night spectacular , was the wonderful staff !!! Waiters from France , South America , Italy ... magnificent night ! 11/10 🌸🌈
There is no doubt that Doyle’s is an iconic place to have a meal at with special friends when in Sydney. The location is perfect. The service is first class. The food is amazing. It is costly but so worth it for that special occasion.
Great food, location and very helpful staff. Attention to detail.
Great location, looking out over the bay. Fresh, tasty food and good service.
Very nice experience overall, service was great, food was amazing. Definitely recommend
A pleasant lunch Portions a bit large Great view of harbour Great for tourists
Our favourite restaurant in the world. As usual just fantastic!
lovely location for a special occasion. Alex the waiter was so nice and professional
The day was great but the parking was a nightmare. Coming and going by public transport spoils the day. Sure the ferries would be nice but the time it takes puts a dampener on the whole process.
NEVER AGAIN! 8 0'clock booking and at least two main dishes listed on the menu were unavailable. Staff were desultory and if we weren't being badgered to order then we were neglected. My partner's flathead dish tasted as if it came straight from the supermarket freezer. We were told the restaurant would shut at 9 and staff went out of their way to ensure we'd finished by then. I'd had past experience with Doyle's but thought to give it another go, given its reputation. The latter, as far as I am concerned, is in shreds. To top it all off, I was asked if I'd like to leave a tip when paying the bill. Doyle's, to me, is now little more than a stop off point for the hordes of tourists who descend on it for lunch. The casual diner comes a poor second. Overpriced, underwhelming.
Amazingly situated by the beach by Watson Bay, overlooking the CBD in the background, this family-owned restaurant boast a long history that dates back to the 20th century. Service was wonderful, pleasant energy amount the staff and of course, the delicious food served. They were simply fresh and tasted great.
I always love the atmosphere and of course the amazing view each time I visit Doyles.
The service is always great and it is so easy to book on line.
Our group chose the whiting which was delicious but found the chips very ordinary.
Dessert was delicious and we enjoyed a great bottle of bubbly.
We enjoyed ourselves and will return of course.
Not our first time and won't be our last, once again great food, great atmosphere and fantastic views!
Great food, recognised our anniversary with a nice table, perfect location
If you are heading to Sydney or live there you MUST go to Doyles, I have never been to such a romantic and enchanting restaurant, the views are to die for, even at night. The staff are wonderful, and the food was divine. 10/10.
Wonderful seating. Great food and service
My wife and I were disappointed with the seafood hot and cold platter. The amount of food was far less than what we expected for payinf nearly $200. I don't think we will be buying that again.
Never disappointed with Doyle’s. The view, the food, the service are all great. A sunny Autumn day is probably the best it gets just like we had. The Hot & Cold Seafood Platter is our choice and a great bottle of champagne. Kids loved it too.
The most brilliant place in the world to have a fish lunch. Sunshine, Sydney Harbour waves lapping at your feet, Sydney skyline, etc etc. Oh, and the food was brilliant too!!!
We went to Doyles on the Beach for a special occasion - a birthday lunch - so it was a treat. We do highly recommend it as we found the service good, food amazing and the location something you cannot beat. The prices are high, so it is not something we can do often though.
As always the food at Doyle's was excellent - a highlight when we visit Sydney. The seafood platters are excellent. Our young waitress on Easter Saturday was so attentive - first class. The stunning view is always a bonus. Definitely recommend a visit here.
Food and location excellent as usual. Wait staff worked hard but were over-stretched so drink/order service was very slow on this occasion
A Good Friday family lunch in a spectacular seaside setting. Magnificent lunch with a gorgeous ambiance, great service from extremely helpful and happy staff. Made our Easter very memorable, thank you
Hi my main complaint of the day was that I had to ask 3 times for a glass of wine through 2 different waiters. I ordered it when my mains came out and it took another 10 minutes to arrive.
Watsons Bay Doyle. The food was generally without distinction and was not what it was 20 years ago+ when Doyles was in its heyday. A big serve of tasteless chips did little to compliment the John Dory fillets which we overcooked and heavy perhaps over-saturated with butter. Potatoes under barramundi were tasteless. The price of food warranted a much higher standard. Doyles is living on its reputation - which is no longer deserved. Also, we had questions about the transport back to Sydney CBD and the ferry - and the staff were useless in helping us navigate our way back.
I visited here in 2018 whilst on holiday 2ith my Mum and enjoyed it so much that I reserved a table for my 40th birthday lunch when bringing my Partner to Australia for the first time. He thoroughly enjoyed it as did I and the food was amazing. A definite must when in Sydney.
Always love this restaurant. Best view in Sydney. The service was not up to scratch. Not sure if it was because it was lunch time. Have only been for dinner and service is great. We ordered John Dory fillets and was told 5 mins later they had none. How does a seafood restaurant at 12.30pm run out of fish???
Great food, great view, great service. Expensive but worth it for a special occasion.
