Double Zero Venice
When it comes to what we eat, we see things differently than others. Aligned with a world rapidly embracing the need for a healthier diet and an increase in plant-based food consumption, we are crafting the future of food®
Our 2nd visit and the food gets better and better. Although small the staff is friendly and efficient and the vibe is trendy but not precious. Awesome plant based food for when you want more than burgers or burritos.
Opening in the remodeled space of Cent'anni, we were curious of Double Zero since it had received considerable;e hype, perhaps due to its rarified status as a vegan Italian restaurant. Although the room was attractive, the food was at best mediocre and the service a supercilious and even condescending. Nothing on the menu stood out as being particularly well prepared or tasty. The "truffle pizza" which could have gained excellent flavor from properly prepared wild mushrooms or dare I sat actual truffles was tasteless and bland. The only standout was the pizza bread at $5. If you are a Vegan, there are plenty of restaurants in the LA area that know how to prepare properly spiced and sourced palate pleasing dishes. At Double Zero, I felt that I was being squeezed for my money by the servers constantly pushing drinks, charging $9 for a bottle of sparkling water, and passing off mass-produced food as something else. Although "Double Zero" is a reference to the finely milled flour used in Italy, it could easily serve as a restaurant rating.
Fortunately, this is a free country and LA is richly endowed with fine eateries.
The potato pizza was amazing! The cacio e pepe was also great, small yet perfect size portion. The chop salad was also great, bright acidity that paired perfectly with our wine selections!
Everyone at Double Zero was wonderful! From Ben the host to Hannah, our server, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. They have amazing food and a very fun and interesting wine list.
Enjoyed the vibe, the minimalist decor. Note all tables (except one) are high top for 6 people and you are seated with other guests. Food was excellent. Save room for the tiramisu.
Both the food and the servers are world-class, and the atmosphere is unmatched! Absolutely loved it here! I will be back for sure!!
The pesto pizza was amazing !! And the vegan meatballs were to die for ! So far I’ve had the truffle pizza and the squash blossom pizza . They are all good but I think my favorite is the pesto one !
Loved it all. The crust was cooked perfectly. The pasta was decadent. My only complaint was the tomato sauce...too sweet. Easy to overlook this flaw because it was still delicious and all plant based too!
On one hand, the dough (crust) and the tomato sauce were great - their attempt at making a not pepperoni was a dismal failure and the ersatz cheese was miserable. I will totally own being a carnivore, but any place that wants to make the trip to the "other side" needs to get textures and tastes down to the point that either it is totally amazing or change the names so that they are not trying to replicate something they are not doing well. I've sampled vegan items in other places and this one was a total fail for me.
Lovely service and food and wine choices were excellent!
Always fabulous!! The Bolognese truly special !
This is the FUTURE of plant based FOOD!!! My only gripe is—- why don’t you deliver yet??? ;)
I'd love to see a little different variety in the wine menu but otherwise we come about 3x/mo and love love love this place!
Truffle pizza was delicious, very very satisfying. Cacio e pepe was not extra-ordinary maybe even under seasoned. Tiramisu was very disappointing
Double Zero is the best plant based restaurant in our area. We are going through the menu & have loved everything we tasted. The truffle pizza is our favorite so far.
Each time we go we meet the nicest people.
Mathew Kenney got it soooo right!
The best vegan pizza money can buy. Amazing! This is going to be a favorite - I am bringing all my friends!
Great food! I am not vegan or gluten free but was dining with people who have dietary restrictions and this place was perfect. I tried the meatballs, chopped salad, truffle pizza, pesto pizza, and hazelnut and pistachio gelatos. The food was excellent (I got the regular crust which does contain some gluten and it was incredible) and my friends had the gluten free crust and said it was excellent. The cheese on the pizza was nut based and I didn’t miss the dairy at all! Will definitely return.
Pizza was amazing! Even non-vegans will love everything this restaurant has to offer. Waiter was very friendly. great overall experience, will definitely be back
Nice to have an all-vegan pizza place nearby; hence why I would recommend. That being said -- our orders were simply OKAY. All I kept thinking while eating the (Bianca) pizza, was "I'm eating hot salad. I'm eating hot salad." Truffle pizza was better, although the crust was super thin and soggy. The crust on the hot salad pizza (Bianca) held up better. I had heard such good things about the New York location, and this location opened up fairly recently, so I am hoping they are still working out the kinks and will get it together in short order. I would go back and see if this is the case.
Really amazing vegan pizza!
The gentleman host on duty on June 5th at 7:30 pm was awesome.
Meredith, our server, was fabulous as well.
It's very good. Non-vegans will be happy here. It's a nice trendy atmosphere, filled with the usual suspects: millennials with money. This also means it is loud. You will hear music, and the people sitting elbow to elbow with you on either side of you at communal tables. The chef has an excellent palette and knows how to appeal to non-vegans. The wine list is well curated and reasonably priced.
Great concept and the interior is beautifully done, but the prices were silly. This is the type of place that I would try once, check the box and never return.
Amazing food. Great portion size and truly delicious
Started with the meatballs, very good. Shared the margarita pizza (gluten free crust, crust was good, pizza OK) and Truffle pizza (excellent) and for dessert, don't miss the Tiramisu.
Over all the restaurant was a very good experience, especially if you like a plant based diet.
AMAZING pizza! truffle was the favorite
Those of us who are vegan miss our pizza days, but no more. This all vegan upscale pizzeria will knock your socks off with all of the different vegan cheese and meat substitutes. Upscale wine list, great service. Community tables means you strike up a conversation with other patrons.
OMG Finally!!!! I'm not sure when they opened but I've been waiting for this day since visiting Double Zero in NYC 2 years ago. I've been back 4 times since they opened and have not been disappointed! Last Friday my wife went for lunch and then back again for dinner to meet me there! yes it is that good... Current favs are the truffle/mushroom and the pesto pizzas but the other stuff is amazing. We tried some of the noodles and other dishes this time too and they were off the charts! Thank you for making vegan amazing, exciting, and fun!
The food as great as was the service.
Both my boyfriend and I had a digestive issue after eating their pizza. Not recommended.
The pizza is SO good! Ambiance is cool, service was great. Can't wait to go back.
Very pricey and additional parmesan is an extra charge. The pizzas are good but the pasta portions are small and mediocre.
Very nice ambiance. Non pizza plates (appetizers) were very small for the price. Pizza was great and excellent tasting, however, there was a 30 min delay in between the non pizza pizza plates (appetizers) and the pizza even though the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. I would only prob get take out there so I don’t lose my appetite waiting for the pizza.
Best pizza dough ever!! I can eat the crust for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pasta is outrageously delicious and soooo memorable.
Pizza tasted great. Service was a disaster.
