Dolce Restaurant - Danbury
I've always given great reviews for Dolce..This time we just ordered two pizza's and drinks..The pizza was average, nothing to write home about. A little skimpy on the cheese and just average. It was a bit disappointing . Pizza's are not cheap, please throw some cheese on it..Drunk couple making a lot of noise never helps either. Obviously not Dolce's fault..Not a great experience this time out..
My husband and I were looking for a new place to try in Danbury on a Friday night. We decided to try Dolce. The service was fantastic. They were very attentive. The food was delicious and a good value. Everything was cooked to perfection. We will be coming back again.
Good food, good service great neighborhood restaurant
We went to Dolce for my daughter’s graduation celebration. We were over an hour late due to traffic leaving the ceremony but they held our reservation with no issues and greeted us with smiles and a quick round of much needed cocktails! The food was amazing - we’ve been there before and have always had great meals! I highly recommend this restaurant!!
Great food, flare and atmosphere. We enjoyed our meals and chatted the night away until well past closing time. The owner was so friendly and treated us to a drink and invited us to stay as long as we liked. So grateful.
Young lady that greeted us and took care of our order was very professional and courteous !
Excellent service from start to finish !
Excellent food, service and environment..Every time..
We took our parents there for their 57th anniversary..Saturday..We had a great time and everything was perfect..Dolce never seems to miss..
Despite having a reservation they had us sit at a high top in the bar when there were plenty of tables available. When asked to change they would not accommodate. Those tables were open our entire meal. Food was ok but way overpriced. Wait staff was good. Will not go back due to host’s service and attitude.
Average food at best. A bit pricey for overall quality. Wait staff very attentive
This was a Sunday night and our first visit to Dolce. It will not be our last! Our waitperson was incredibly polite, friendly and courteous...an unexpected experience! We enjoyed the calamari as an appetizer. Crispy and light batter...nicely prepared. I had a beautifully plated beet salad with very tasty rare hanger steak. Large slices of very fresh beets and fresh arugula. My partner had Mahi-Mahi with a lovely lobster sauce on a bed of al dente brussel sprouts. And of course, there is always room for dessert. We shared a deliciously prepared flan with burnt caramel sauce, excellent. I also enjoyed a cappuccino with a substantial amount of light foam. A wonderful date night!
Food was excellent!
Let's start with the very positive: the food was delicious. From the chicken parmigiana, to the shrimp scampi, to the chicken scarperiello. Bread and dips for bread were both interesting and tasty. The young waitress started off strong and attended to us fairly quickly upon arrival. However as the meal (or the wait for the meal went on) it seemed like the waitress was interested in persuading us to order another bottle of wine, while we waited over 30 minutes for our main dish to arrive. She did not offer us more bread, nor did she reassure us if and when the meal might be coming. I had to ask her, and her answer was less than convincing. Perhaps she was new and maybe after a few weeks or months on the job she will learn to be more attentive to diners. In the meantime, Dolce would do well to consider better training. Finally, we made a reservation through OpenTable, and yet when we arrived there, it was as if they hadn't received it. Well when they don't check, it IS as if they haven't received it. Fortunately they were able to seat us after about 7 minutes even though, originally it did not seem like they were going to honor our online/OpenTable reservation.
The overall experience was good however it seemed like they had closed off sections for an event so it was louder than normal and a bit more chaotic. I've had great food there but I personally thought the shrimp scampi was very plain for my taste. Someone else in my group had the steak and said it was excellent.
Made Open Table reservation around 9:30A for 5:30p the same day. Received confirmation from Open Table
When we arrived on time restaurant had no record of the reservation, but accommodated my rather large business dinner party.
The manager was very concerned and gracious. He and I reviewed my confirmation and it not showing up on his end. He stated they review this continuously during the day.
Approximately 15 minutes later the reservation appeared in his queue.
This is concerning to both me and the restaurant.
Over all our visit was good. The food was good and presented nicely. All the wait staff were attentive and friendly. The rating would of been better had it not been for the over hour and fifteen minutes to one hour thirty minute wait for our entrees to be served, the 4 appetizers we ordered came in less than 10minutes. The waitstaff explained that the kitchen was backlogged with orders and gave us a round of drinks on the house.
From the moment we entered, the experience was awesome!
Good food, nice ambience, and very pleasant staff.
Love this place! Food is constantly delicious. Great ambiance. Friendly accommodating staff. Can't wait to go back.
Sat in the enclosed outside area and it was chilly and ambience wasn’t great. Service/waitstaff great but it took 40 minutes to get our salads. Waiter did apologize 30 minutes in that the kitchen was backed up
No one was able to eat entire meal due flavors just being off for most: parpadelle was gummy and meat ragu chewy ... chicken scarp. Was inedible.
The food was delish but 2 hours from the time we sat and we got out dinner meal I thought was a bit much
As always, everything was first rate, from start to finish. The waitstaff are consistently warm, friendly, knowledgeable and cheerful. Tonight was no exception. And our meals were so wonderful, we had to stop ourselves from licking our plates! My seafood paella was, without exaggeration, the best I have ever tasted. Bravo!
Everything was great... just beware they don’t do free refills and drinks and don’t always ask if you want more to drink, they just bring you more. Besides that the food was amazing! Pre-wedding fun with the girls!
My husband and I just moved to Connecticut from the midwest and have been dining in the bar area at Dolce every Friday night for the last two months. We have not stopped going since our first visit. Yes, it's that good. Food is fantastic. Service is genuine and kind. We are always greeted by a wonderful, smiling and accomodating staff at the door. Bar is fun and full of energy. LOVE THIS PLACE!
We had an enjoyable Valentine's Day dinner in the bar area at a hi-top table. Live music was a nice touch.
First time going to Dolce, went when it was Spasi's and the opportunity came up to go to Dolce.
There was 3 of us for 6:30pm reservations. We ordered personal cheese pizza, pan seared scallops and Shrimp, and Caesar salad with steak. The Pizza came to table 20 mins after we ordered, told the person not to wait for our other 2 dinners to come...good thing as the other 2 dinners came 10 mins after they finished there pizza. When they brought out the other 2 dinners they also brought out the salad that came with the dinner, (should have been brought out before the meal, not with meal) The pan seared Scallops and shrimp I was told was good but gritty from sand and or shell. The steak was ordered medium and came out rare. By the time the waiter came back and asked how everything was I had finished my Caesar Salad and was no longer interest in waiting for my steak to get corrected and asked to just take it off the bill. I might go back..not sure. Maybe the kitchen and front of the house staff was not "on point" that night.
I do not give 5 stars easily..It should used only for special places and experiences. Dolce is special.
Great drinks, great service and delightful food. Portions are decent but at Dolce you will always want more. The environment is great. We have yet to be in the main dining room but the high top and patio area was very nice. You have a fine dining experience in this place and do not feel that profit margin is their only focus..By far the best Italian place in Danbury..
Every aspect of our meal—a surprise birthday celebration for a friend—was completely delightful. Our servers could not have been nicer or more accommodating. And our meals were expertly and lovingly prepared in a very busy kitchen on a very busy Saturday night. Bravo!
Wrote a private note to the restaurant without any response or follow-up after one week. Open Table Reservation for 2 on Sat at 7pm. Arrived hostess (female) indicates no reservation. Provided confirmation. She walks away with no response. Host (male) arrives looking irrated, he has reservation on his phone. Says nothing. Told by hostess to follow her. She heads for the bar and says that is all they have. When I indicated not acceptable no alternative offered. Could have said we will have an alternate location in xx minutes do you mind waiting. No the bar is the only offer. If my wife and I had wished to have dinner at a bar we would have made a reservation at a bar. This particular staff Hostess and Host do not seem to realize they are in the service business where clients have expectations. Have dined here on three previous occassions. This night their service was simply unacceptable by my standards. We left insulted, disappointed and commented to each other that we had thought we have found a good place but obviously had made a mis-judgement. Best suggestions is "staff training" is sorely needed.
Although the restaurant was packed with patrons, we had a wonderful evening...food was delicious and service was very good. We will be returning!!
I took my wife and daughter there for my wife's birthday. We ate in the glassed in patio area rather than the main dining room. It was cold and really noisy due to a wedding party or baby shower. Ignorant people yelling and screaming while other people are eating and a lot of people coming in and out holding the door open in the extreme cold..My daughter was cold the entire time..That stunk..The main dishes were excellent. Chicken and smoked mozzarella ravioli, Mushroom ravioli and Salmon with lobster sauce all delightful. Portions were decent..Drinks were good. Desert was very average. Service was good. Prices are pretty reasonable. We did enjoy it and would go back but only to dine in the main dining room. It was a nice experience and the negatives were really no fault of the restaurant. We look forward to trying more of the menu in the future.
We picked restaurant because of location . We had table near busy intersection on a Friday night, so there was a lot of action around us. Food was good. Eggplant dish needed a bit more spice. Service was wonderful, very attentive.
Absolutely loved Dolce! I had a gift certificate and went with my husband Friday night. Service was extremely good, food was outstanding and portions were generous. Looking forward to returning soon.
Sat in the bar area. Loved the energy. Food was delicious. Greeter (could be owner) was fun, friendly and outgoing. She worked the room with an authentic outgoing personality adding a lot to our experience. Service was good, but server lacked personality. But in her defense it was a busy night. Loved it.
Surprisingly upscale -- good menu (fairly modern for a traditional Italian restaurant) -- excellent service, attractive venue.
I like this restaurant, nice ambiance, small dining area inside and additional space in a glass enclosed front room. Attentive wait staff. Tuna Tartar is delicious. Martinis are great. Interesting menu. Will accommodate Gluten free diet.
Were from new york and came here because we had a gift certificate but honestly this is our new place when we’re in the area the food was absolutely delicious and the staff was very friendly!
We had a delicious dinner at Dolce and found the service very attentive. Professional and friendly staff. Will definitely return.
