We ordered the beetroot tartare, the pork belly, the beef brisket, and the tempura eggplant. The first three were absolutely delicious but the tempura eggplant dish was completely tasteless. The crunch of the tempura was nice, but there was literally no taste, even in the green mango and the chilli. We were putting the sauce from the pork belly pancakes on the eggplant just so we could taste something.

Service and ambience were great, however the food was quite slow to come out meaning we used up our 90 minute allocation and were given a ‘15 minute warning’ while we were still eating our mains! This meant that we didn’t get an opportunity to order dessert or more drinks. Not ideal for us, or from a business POV, I imagine.

Despite those not so great things, 3 out of 4 dishes were A+ and we definitely enjoyed our experience.

Had a pleasant dinner at Detour. Could have been 5 stars for the whole dining experience, had one of the wait staff been a bit more focussed, welcoming, and accommodating. Nevertheless, I can recommend this restaurant. The dishes were balanced and flavoursome. At the time of review, I can recommend the cured salmon, saltgrass lamb, pork belly, gunpowdered wagyu brisket, tempura eggplant, fossilised carrots, and salt & vinegar chips.

Always a brilliant experience! Damon and his team have redefined the quality of casual dining in Brisbane combining products that aren't typically on a menu and a non-mainstream wine list that meets all requirements and tastes. Have been numerous times and will be back for more!!

We had a lovely dinner and experience at Detour. Food was spectatular - especially the nitro dessert! John was delightful as was the Columbian waitress (apologies, but have forgotten her name). Will be back.

Last time we were there the food was exceptional but this time it was a bit average. The guy serving us was a little too forceful in suggesting what we should order and he kept turning his back on my adult son when he was the one we put in charge of ordering the food.

Been to detour 5-6 times now and the food, service and overall feel has not once disappointed us.
We cannot fault detour and will continue to return!
The head chef and head of table service are next level and have made each of our Detour experiences that much better.

We are vegetarian so we love that they have a wide range of options. Every meal is delicious. We've been many times and every time is a real treat. Always a special place to go.

I love the menu because I can’t figure out how to replicate it at home. The textures and the veggie dishes are just the best. Wonderful service. Great wine. It can be a place to dress up for and also to relax more casually, the best of both worlds!

Detour is a 'regular' dining spot for us. We just know the cuisine will be creative and delicious, the service welcoming, helpful yet not intrusive. And the anbiance superb. It's about those mellow coppery walls and natural timber backdrops. The room simply glows by night.
