Whether you dine with us in our main dining room or upstairs in what was once our family's home, we warmly welcome you. If you're looking for that special restaurant where you can take a a breath from the fast lane and go back to a time when restaurants were not part of a chain and the owner became a friend, the food was always great, and as my grandmother said, "You feel better for coming"....then you've found the right spot. We combine the classic Italian Menu and new creative dishes, with full attention to both. If you enjoy fine wine, you've found a new home. Our cellar contains well over 3,500 choices dating from the late 1800's.
It's like a you're in Northern Italy ... a step back in time. Tin ceilings, warm greeting by the owner Bill and wife, Connie. Warm and inviting atmosphere. . . tablecloths, cheerful wait staff who describe the evenings specials, and when described, you can tell they have tasted the menu and care about what they are doing. I write this because each time we go, it is the same wonderful service. I give this restaurant out of 5 stars a 7star. I had the Chicken Eevino ...two breasts cooked to perfection with a lemon and white wine reduction... also had the maple walnut butternut squash ravioli...crisp toasted walnuts to cut the sweetness and richness of the sauce. Pasta is homemade. Highly recommend...have taken out of town guests who travel extensively and they said this is the best Northern Italian meal they have had.
We always enjoy returning to Del Río! It’s been a go-to place for us for years. We had a variety Of dishes this time around — Mushroom Risotto, Butternut Squash Ravioli, Branzino and the Pork Chop. Everything was cooked to perfection and no one went home disappointed.
Consistent, delicious, classic Italian. Love the food, love the comfy hospitality.
With all the terrific choices in the suburbs & city Del Rio’s still is a dining choice at least six times per year. We’ve been going for 47 years. Bill, owner/greeter has been overseeing the family restaurant as long as we’ve been dining there.
The cheese ravioli al forno & veal modenese are go Too dishes. The baking of fish aveva style is worth too!
Del Rio has always been a favorite of mine.
I enjoyed my birthday dinner there with friends from Cape Cod on Wednesday, 9/25.
Thanks for making that meal a very special occasion.
(We particularly enjoyed meet the 5th generation of your family, who was bussing that evening!)
Jennifer was amazing! The food was delicious!! Always love Del Rio.
We love it here! Even though it is an old establishment, we are surprised at how many of our friends haven't been here in recent years. The food and service are consistently excellent, and Bill is the best!!
Just a most enjoyable dining experience. Food is always good. They were packed yet service was very attentive. Wed nights have live music and it’s like what I picture dining in the 1940’s would have been like
Service and food were outstanding. Love this place!
There are some restaurants that make you never want to move away. But when you do, it's places like old school italian eatery Del Rio in Highwood, Illinois, that stir the heart and culinary senses, and make you always feel like family. It was so good to hear 4th generation owner Bill Pigati remember my folks, and to welcome me, and my wife, back after over 40 years. 95 years and still packing 'em in.
Del Rio. Favorite restaurant of ours! The service is outstanding along with fine food! The shrimp scampi were delicious in a wonderful cheese sauce! Pasta is always andante and great!
Loved the music, menu options, went with in laws and we truly enjoyed it.
The ambiance was homey and comfortable. The music by Carl and Dan was wonderful and lovely. They play on Wednesdays and we will definitely go back.
Have been dining there for over 30 years. Wouldn't change a thing!
Because of our Open Table reservation which included the fact that it was my husband's birthday, we were treated to a desert and were fussed over.
Like a throw back to old times. Food was delicious. No short cuts here. Staff gracious, friendly, and helpful. We were allowed to enjoy a leisurely, coursed meal, unrushed. Full dining room, but still quiet enough to enjoy easy conversation. I don’t think anything has changed here in 50 years. Hope it stays this way!!
It was my first time dining at Del Rio, and definitely not my last! Jazz night was very enjoyable, and the wait staff extremely friendly/knowledgable. Also got the chance to meet the third generation family owners, great people! The food was simply prepared and delicious! Great time.
always have a fine dining experience here. one of our favorite places to dine.
Very enjoyable evening. The food was great (including veal, tortellacci , and more). The restaurant owners and staff were very welcoming, and helpful. It was obvious that there were many "regulars," which is always a good sign. We will return for sure.
We’ve been coming to Del Rio’s for over 25 years. We live farther away so now it’s our occasional treat. Charming family owned authentically decadent pasta and Italian cuisine! Must go!
Always reliably wonderful. The live music on Wednesdays is a great addition
Our meal was outstanding and Julie our waitress was fantastic. What a great time was had by all!
Family get together for out of towners.
Everything was awesome from the food to wait staff to the ambience. Highly recommend!
Traditional place that offers reliable food. Veggie and Gluten Free options and decent wine list.
All time favourite.
At first sight, you had to wonder. After being greeted by the Owner, we were seated and the server (Cecelia) was very attentive. Although the menu was limited in selections, our selections were very good.
My wife and I would definitely go back.
Warm, cozy, and romantic. Old school Italian eatery. Delicious drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Home made gelato to die for. Service staff from a bygone era. Respectful and accomodating. Best Manhattan I've had in years. The portion of my Son's chicken parmesan was on the small side. Otherwise - wonderful.
My dinner was fantastic. The owners walked around and talked to the guests. And our server, Jenny, was top-notch! Can’t wait to go back again.
Del Rio never disappoints! Great food, ambiance and a great drink.
Our monthly "Boys Night Out" was great success, great food, gracious host and a party atmosphere every time we go to Del Rios. One of the friendliest restaurants in town (if not the friendliest).
Very good meal. Filet mignon was excellent. Wonderful atmosphere
We’ve been eating at this restaurant for 30 years. It’s fantastic and feels like you are visiting family. This is a gem and I hope it never goes away.
I love the place.
The food is really good and everyone is friendly
Charming old world Italian! Family owned restaurant passed down and it’s an Authentic Gem!
Excellent authentic food. Delightful service.
Would definitely make this one of our regular stops on
Always an outstanding experience!
