We are a neighbourhood restaurant & bar in Sydney's Surry Hills, dedicated to Australian produce, wine, beer & cocktails.
We are located in a heritage townhouse just off Taylor Square at the axis of Paddington, Darlinghurst and Surry Hills with comfortable counter-top dining, a garden terrace and an intimate dining room, also available for private hire.
We are thrilled to have one of Australia’s most experienced chefs, Jamie Irving (previously Berta, Est, Pearl) heading up our kitchen. Together our goal is to champion the exceptional ingredients of this great continent through a changeable menu of sharing plates.
Our kitchen stays open throughout the day and late into every evening.
Limited menu done very, very well. The service was excellent without being overbearing. We really enjoyed our evening.
I have been going to dead ringer a lot in the past. Unfortunately this time the service was very poor. The attitude of the waitress was not very positive and we had to constantly wave to be able to order something. Our wine glasses were constantly empty and we had to keep asking for a top up.
Amazing food, loved the bartender’s recommendations. Crushed almond appetizer is a must!
The guys at dead ringer were great. The accomadated my husband and myself as we had a pram. The service was great and all the staff were super friendly.
Went there for a casual brunch with bottomless mimosas, the amount and the quality of the food for the set menu brunch is good value. The service was very attentive about the drink refill which is pleasant cause you don't have to chase the attention of waiters. I had a very good moment. Would come again.
Dead Ringer always has quality food, fabulous staff, and it’s a great night out with family/friends.
Little pricey for portion size but food was good. Service was great at the start but didn’t finish as good as our original server must’ve left and a manger helped us after. She seemed to be a little pushy for after dinner drinks and desserts. All and all 7.5/10 but would’ve been 8/10 if our original sever was with us the entire meal.
We really enjoyed our evening, outside table was perfect and food delicious. We’ll be back
Great food, ambience and location. No complaints.
The service was excellent - attentive, informed and friendly. And the food and drinks were absolutely delicious!! Will definitely return.
Great brunch set menu for $35, and bottomless mimosas added on for $30 (2 hour limit). Food was creative and fresh. Portions were more than enough, we had a group of 5 and were given two plates of each dish to share. Only drawback was that toward the latter hour, we didn't get a mimosa refill for over 20 minutes. In general, the mimosas were only ok: mostly huge ice cubes, which we all ended up removing from the small glasses (and despite this obvious hint, the bar still kept piling on the ice), and the drinks were already watered down by the time they got to us - not exactly fizzy. But I'd definitely go back and give them another shot at it! Had a very nice brunch.
Food was fantastic - we had the set brunch for $35 - and the staff were great as well. Amazing Bloody Mary to top it off, and some of our party had the bottomless mimosa option - seriously good value. Can't recommend enough for a casual and delirious brunch
Amazing Staff Amazing food, one of the best in Sydney.
Really great, interesting food. I like the new take on classic dishes (creamed almonds instead of hummus, etc). I appreciate healthy/vegan food while some of my group typically do not, however we all left really satisfied! Will come again for sure.
Went there for a Sunday brunch with bottomless mimosas. The service was great. Good communication from the waitstaff from the beginning regarding the menu and the way the bottomless cocktails worked. Prompt service and refills throughout. Lovely atmosphere. Food is on the slightly pricier side...but it is refreshing to have a different menu from brunch compared to what is on offer at most brunch spots.
Very good food although the portions very small. RE the wine- I fully understand that restaurants need to mark up in order to make a profit but I do not feel it's justified charging $65+ for a single bottle of wine. But we chose this, of course : )
Great atmosphere and service.
Great food and service. The back section wasn’t too loud which was great for catching up with friends. Can recommend the bottomless mimosas.
My husband is gluten intolerant so we were drawn to Dead Ringer by their menu. The wait staff were fantastic, they were so helpful in explaining the menu and had a deep knowledge of the wine list. We were initially seated outside on a shared table but unfortunately the other diners were quite loud and kept rocking the bench seating. I quietly asked our waiter if we could move inside and he happily accommodated- it seemed no trouble at all and we were so grateful. From then we had an intimate meal and thoroughly enjoyed the fresh produce on offer. Their attention to detail is a rarity in the Sydney dining scene, the waiters found a balance between being attentive but not imposing. We can’t wait to dine again!
A fantastic wine list , cozy decor and fabulous food! Can't wait to go back!!
Enjoyed the florally gin martini - squeeze of lemon and lemon rind at table topped it off. Loved the shared plates - very tasty octopus, eggplant and miso dressing; creamy chicken liver parfait with pickled watermelon and carrot; perfect cheese soufflé; tasty Greek flavoured lamb; refreshing rocket and peach salad. No room for desserts! Well done Chef.
Great venue that always delivers.
Food, drinks and service is always on point and the value of the meal is hard to beat.
Two hours worth of bottomless mimosa's. What more do you need to say?
Spendy brunch but a good one!
Excellent service, yummy food. Will definitely be back and recommend to my friends.
The brunch menu was delicious!!! The service was great as always - we were very impressed with the staff noticing when drinks were close to empty and bringing fresh ones! You don’t get that many places!
Great value too!!
I’ll be back!
When your favourite bar gets better! Consistently 10/10
Unpretentious, consistent and just bloody good in every department. Love going to dead Ringer and recommend to everyone. The Creamed Almonds are a cracker to start with along with the Cheese Souffle.... Don't waste your time..... Just order two to begin with or you'll order a second anyway....
The service was friendly and the waitresses were attentive.
Great atmosphere and ambience.
The food was tasty and creative
We had a lovely evening
Went for the meat free Monday’s with a friend. The atmosphere is great - not too formal but food is very high quality and lots of variety.
Such potential, poor execution.
Food was not as good as last time I went , the recipe for the chicken had changed and the other dishes we tried were not as good. The staff were a little snarky
Fabulously friendly service with creative and super fresh cuisine. Simple yet perfect menu for this cozy neighborhood spot.
Enjoyed a fabulous Sunday bottomless brunch here with friends. The mimosas and food were delicious, and the staff very helpful and accomodating with our food (one nut allergy and one pescatarian were well cared for!).
Will definitely go back, perfect for a lazy Sunday or birthday brunch.
This is my second visit, I came a while and it was great to see the food is still delicious.
The wine list is concise, but both wines were excellent.
My favourite dish was the rump with black mustard.
I would probably skip dessert next time, it was ok...
The service was really good, professional and friendly.
We live in Brisbane and this was our second visit to Dead Ringer. It lived up to our expectations and our friends enjoyed it too. We'll be there again for sure next time we visit Sydney. The location is excellent as is the food and the service is outstanding.
Had such a lovely evening with an impressive and delicious menu.
Due to traffic we were unable to make our 6:30pm dinner reservation and the staff were able to happily move this to 7pm. When seated we quickly realised that even though it wasn't particularly noisy, due to my partner's hearing issues, we found it quite difficult to have a conversation. We advised the staff and without hesitation they happily moved us to a quiet table down the back. Staff visited the table to check on us at just the right moments. The prawns, steak, fish and broccolini were presented well and cooked to perfection! Overall, a great experience. Thank you :)
The staff and service were absolutely delightful, the venue was perfect and the food and drinks were amazing. All together was a beautiful experience.
SPECTACULAR AS ALWAYS.
Food was delicious, staff were very attentive and fabulous drinks!
