David Burke at Orange Lawn
A wonderful experience!
Food and service was terrific
Very good expensive not every day dining.
The ambiance was amazing, beautifully spacious surroundings, quiet airy atmosphere with plenty of distancing in tent. The food was incredible, only the flavors exceeding the presentation! Service was on point, pleasant and genuine while respectful of space and privacy. All in all, a perfect selection for a warm summer evening.
Such a great experience, the food, the service, the atmosphere. Everything was delightful. I am a huge David Burke fan, he never disappoints.
The perfect first night eating out after quarantine. Delicious food and beautiful outdoor setting!
It was outstanding. The restaurant took tremendous precautions, from getting the guests’ email and cell phone numbers in the event they need to do contact tracing, they had paper menus to not risk spreading any germs via the menu, all of the servers were wearing masks and they had masks for guests to wear when they walked to their table.
The food was absolutely delicious, the service was great, the outdoor dining ambience was lovely and I have already recommended it to several people I know.
Keep up the great work.
Excellent job at outdoor dining and making everyone feel safe!! Very impressed!
You had me at gazpacho soup! We were celebrating the end of the school year - and the reopening of David Burke at Orange Lawn - with our teens. Every dish was fantastic and the service excellent. We will definitely be back to explore more of the menu. Highly recommend DB at OL for any and all occasions.
Pretty spectacular ambiance.
An evening of mishaps including a 35-minute wait (standing) for a reserved table; a 45-minute wait for a waiter to take our food order after being seated, and being told 30 minutes after ordering our entrees that they no longer had any Bronzino, which we had both ordered. My Diet Coke was flat each time, and my second glass of sparkling Rose was also flat. The waitress did replace the flat sparkling rose, but not the second Diet Coke, in spite of us telling her it was also flat. By the time we finally received and ate our starters, I was no longer hungry for an entree. My husband, however, was still hungry, and he ordered the ribs which arrived undercooked and fatty - he only took a few bites. The chef had no mask on as he greeted diners at some of the tables, and several other staff members had exposed noses. I hate to be so harsh when restaurants are struggling during the pandemic, but there were a lot of calamities for one night at this restaurant. To be fair, when my husband uncharacteristically complained, we were comped for our food.
A nice idea, but it didn't work. Lovely setting outside on the lawn tennis court, but the service was very poor. There was not enough wait staff to service the large number of diners. They had to walk several hundred yards back the main building to get food. Our poor waitress had to walk that twice once to get our check and then again after I gave the card. We wound up waiting 30 minutes just to pay, and the waitress was not ignoring us or anything, she had so many people to serve and then long walks. Why don't they use portable terminals? Every restaurant in Europe and Canada uses them. This would have saved everyone miles of walking and hours of waiting.
The food was not particularly good. They had clothesline bacon which is cute, but really silly and cheesecake popsicles thrilled the kids, but was a trick, not good cooking. I ordered barbecued short ribs that came cold, soggy, and pretty tasteless.
Sorry to report this was a pretty unsatisfactory experience.
My entire order was messed up. Appetizer never arrived. Medium rare steak arrived well done- very disappointing for a $52 steak. Turned it back, arrived correct without the side- asparagus 20 mins later.I ordered my side of fries, they brought it to the wrong table. It arrived 15 minutes after my chicken arrived. Main course delivered with a 20 min gap so I had to wait to eat with my husband, food got cold. Still waiting on appetizer and the side of asparagus. Neither arrived. Very disappointed because the restaurant was gorgeous. Our server was very apologetic. Every table around us ate and left and we saw a whole new set of faces on each table. Took 30 mins to close the check out.
I booked the outdoor dining reservations at David Burke Orange Lawn because of the thoughtful and specific protocol listed on their website to protect their staff and guests from spreading Covid-19 coronavirus. I was beyond disappointed at the execution and enforcement of such protocol. Many guests and a few staff were walking around without masks (yet protocol said that masks had to be worn unless seated at the table). The attitudes of the guests without masks were especially cavalier. I took multiple pictures of people not following protocol - and honestly - what’s the point in having it if people are not going to follow it. I thought that this would be a relatively safe dining experience for my family, but it turned out to be distracting and disappointing. By choosing to not enforce the plans they so thoughtfully prepared, David Burke at Orange Lawn is potentially putting their guests and staff in unsafe conditions.
Wonderful experience overall, and great way to get back to dining out!
Very memorable Father’s Day celebration. All the dishes were excellent, with some truly creative flourishes.
First night out dining since March. It was very pleasant and we enjoyed the ability to have dinner and stay later outside for a drink. I would highly recommend it.
We will be back.
Lovely as always!
We were greeted by 3 Kind Hostesses. Our waitress was personable, however, The party of 4 behind us were served their food and drinks first, and we waited a VERY long time for food. Waitress also tried to take my husband's food away before he was finished, so her mind was obviously somewhere else. My children were getting antsy while we were waiting for the check. Waitress was nowhere in sight. Waited in the car with my kids while my husband sat at the table alone for 20 minutes waiting for someone to bring the check, (which wasn't even our waitress). Terrible end to our Father's day eve dinner.
Outdoor dining was very nice!
The entire experience was flawless. The service, presentation and quality of each item served was excellent. The gazpacho was to die for. The tuna steak was prepared exactly as requested black and blue. Could not have done anything better, superb.
Its wasnt a true fine dining experience.
We didnt get bread after asking 3 times, they took the silverware without
replacing, we had to ask for it, and we had to pour our own wine. It wasnt
a true fine dining experience, but the food was really good.
Everything else is just maybe early kinks.
First night after shut down was amazing. The only thing missing was David's super delish popovers we enjoy so much!! Dan the man Bartender is one of a kind. We love him!!
I love the setup outside under the tents and of course the food is delicious.
The service was not very good, we waited 15 mins for the waiter to take our order, 20 mins for the drinks to be brought to the table and then nobody would really checked on us to see if we wanted anything else. I had to chase a waiter to be able to pay.
We wanted another drink but decided against it because the wait time. I will give it another try..maybe this new situation takes time to get used to.
We had dinner on the Garden Terrace on the second DB@OL was open for outdoor dining. We were lucky with beautiful weather, but more importantly a delicious meal and amazing service! The outdoor space is well done and it was clear the team was working extra hard to ensure every guest had a great experience while simultaneously figuring out a new format...they did it! We'll be back!
Dining in New Jersey is back! It's great to be at David Burke again and they've set up a wonderful outdoor space. Typical first day issues, but I'm sure things will go more smoothly in the coming days and weeks as they get into a routine. The food is exactly as before the apocolypse, which is to say fantastic. You won't be dissapointed.
Best food I have ever eaten in the state of New Jersey. Grounds are gorgeous!
Went for brunch. Horrible lounge-style singer performing way too loudly in the bar area. Couldn’t hear a thing nor focus on conversation. Garden Mary was just bad - don’t know how to describe why, it just had bad, bitter flavor. Donuts were ok, but putting a tiny fortune in a donut is an objectively stupid idea. You end up breaking it completely apart so you don’t swallow a piece of paper (final insult - all the fortunes were the same!). Frittata had large raw chunks of squash and came with a bland, undressed plop of salad. The crab cake benedict didn’t come with an English muffin and was, oddly, covered in whole pretzel sticks, which made it hard to eat. You just smushed it when you tried to cut in. The setting is nice and the staff was courteous, but itcouldn’t make up for what was, overall, just an awful experience start to finish.
Food was mediocre. Service was slow. Prices were high for quality.
Did not refill coffee without asking. Took utensils and did not replace when entree was served
Disappointing experience. Food was nothing spectacular just average. Gnocchi was way too salty. Octopus was chewy. Coffee was lukewarm. Service is below par in comparison to other fine dining restaurants in NJ. Here's some tip for the waiters and waitresses, when someone orders a bottle of wine ask them to taste first before pouring everyone else.
Overall, I had such high expectations from the restaurant given that it's David Burke's afterall. Oh and did I mention that David was at the restaurant? Yes, he was and he was mingling with some customers. So disappointed.
Not worth the price; service staff while very nice couldn't keep up with the volume. Wrong food coming to wrong tables; We had dessert with our brussel sprouts still on the table. Food ranged from uninteresting and mediocre (oysters, kale salad, creme brulee) to quite good (lobster and bass specials). We chose this place for a special occasion (my husband's BD) and were hoping for a fabulous night. They missed his BD (despite my reservation request); we were initially seated in a casual lounge and had to ask to be moved to one of the dining rooms. While it's a fun place, it's loud and the service struggled. Just not worth the $. Better to come with a group of friends when you don't mind spending more than you should, and you want to see the building/grounds (which are fun to see at least once).
Food was very average at best, and not cheap.
Another great meal at David Burke. Always a fun night with great food and drinks. Glad to see the menu continue to evolve as the seasons change.
Excellent food! Consistently!
Lovely space and gracious service. The food was very very salty. We had to send 2 entrees back! And the ones we did not send back were also very salted. The waiter and the kitchen took the entrees back without question and made replacements, but it’s not the sort of food we would expect from David Burke and certainly not from a restaurant charging such high prices. Not sure we’d go back.
Perfection. Service and food were both amazing
Our 2nd time here - to try the other dishes. And it did not disappoint. Begins with the bread which is made fresh daily on premise. Then the pretzel crab appetizer, the salmon carpaccio are both divine. The entrees, the cocktails, the desserts - each one presented with flair and this time the presentation lives up to its hype. This place is seriously not to be missed.
We loved our meal! Server was great. I would suggest two things. Some of the wines by the glass we would have liked to have purchased by the bottle. And two, We would have liked more tequila options at the bar. We love Don Julio Reposado and Anejo, but you didn’t offer it. Food was great.
Phenomenal- can't wait to come back.
The appetizers, entrees and cocktails were fantastic. Creative, tasty and beautifully presented. Worth the price. Our chocolate tin dessert turned to an overly sweet mush. Too much of a gimmick we couldn't really enjoy. Maybe we should know better than to try dessert after such wonderful apps and entrees.
The setting and dining rooms were beautiful. We will likely be back as it is in our backyard.
Service was spotty. The hostess never came back to tell us about oyster availability and the waiter didn't mention anything so our question did not get referred. Kid offered my wife more water but not me. Why? Other staff seemed timid too.
The chairs on the old porch became uncomfortable over time. Those in the other dining areas looked more substantial. The place was noisy.
But we will return.
