Its an amazing place for Indian food in the nook of the city. Though the menu is limited, food quality and taste is good. We loved every thing that we ordered, highlights being lamb rogan josh, batata tikki and colonel tso's cauliflower.
The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating as well. Would have loved a few more options for dessert.
We had the mixed taster plate. This is a marvelous to appreciate the fine food offerings of this restaurant. Highly recommeded.
Fun atmosphere, if a bit noisy. We liked the funky colours and the pop culture vibe. Some of the smaller dishes seemed a little overpriced for the quantity, but the larger curries were fantastic.
The service and food was amazing. Highly recommended
Whenever I come to Melbourne I eat at DIL and they never disappoint! The food is incredible and I love the funky ambience. This time I took my 15yo son with me and he said it was the highlight of our trip. He is still talking about the balls of happiness and can’t wait to go back. Please don’t ever take the Punjabi Khadi off the menu! I fell in love with it when I first tried it at the Dhabi truck years ago and it is my
Favourite Indian dish.
Atmosphere was amazing!! Staff were so kind!! And food was out of this world!! Would highly recommend to anyone!!
Best Indian restaurant in Melbourne- no close competitors
Absolutely delicious food, great service. Food came in pretty quick. Cocktails were nice. Loved the place so much. Something different than the usual Indian eateries.
Great value and delicious flavours! Lovely dining experience
This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in awhile. We went for a long lunch and had an amazing time. From the second we entered we were hit with the ambience that Daughter in Law eludes- funky decor and a Bollywood movie projected on the walls sets the stage, the bar tender looking thrilled to be at work nods at us as we walk in, the staff are extremely attentive and make us feel excited about the menu. We had a spot right by the window which was comfortable and intimate.
Now where do I start on the food... Modern Indian which does not compromise on the culture or flavour of the original dishes. Earthy dhals, slow cooked chickpeas, light and garlicy naan, creamy curries, palette cleansing chutneys and cauliflower like you’ve never tasted before.
Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back!
Thank you Daughter in Law for a memorable Indian food experience in the heart of Melbourne
The best Indian food with an awesome ambience . From the service to the food everything is always spot on. My fav place for Indian .
This is an outstanding choice for anyone looking for fabulous, interesting food in Melbourne. We had the tasting plate and loved the balance across the courses. The music was a bit loud when coupled with a few tables of noisy diners but that might be more about us getting old than it being too loud. 😀
Great place, love the decor, we had the lunch special which was great value.
Taste was not good. Not worth it its better to go to Maacas instead of this.
Delicious food...we ate way too much! Service was wonderful & friendly. Great little vibe for a mid week dinner. We’ll be back for sure
Excellent all around! Will definitely be back. So tasty and great service.
Delicious food and a very generous amount. Will be back soon.
The music level was very high but the staff fixed it quickly when it was brought to their attention.
We both really enjoyed the tasting menu
We enjoyed the interpretation of Indian style food of the restaurant and the complimentary diversity of flavours.
The wine, however, as is usual, was marked up too much, a common issue in most restaurants.
Excellent food and service. Extra attention given to celebrate my friend's birthday. Very much appreciated.
Amazing food! Can not recommend the tasting menu enough! Everything was so delicious!
Great food and service. Music too loud for my taste.
A nice ambience, and really enjoyed the old Bollywood movie playing on the wall. Service was good. The food was great, and the 'not' butter chicken was one of the best I've tasted.
Loved our experience at Daughter in Law. Recommended by friends to order the tasting plate and was not disappointed. Best Indian cuisine I have tasted.
We went to this place to celebrate our anniversary with friends. To our surprise, the food was really good. Especially the aunty dhal and butter chicken was amazing. But our tandoori chicken never arrived and was later removed from our bill. The food was well priced but literally nothing was complimentary. From small chili's to chutney, everything was chargeable which was alright but less in quantity. But overall our experience was pretty good. Thanks guys
Staff and service were very good.
I felt like I was in a 70's night club, music was way too loud. Completely inappropriate for a restaurant.
Roti and Naan bread were tasteless and food was average.
Most beautiful food in all of Melbourne. When i take the first bite, I can only taste LOVE in the food.
Absolutely loved Daughter In-law 💚 amazing food, cocktails, service and the music was great as well.
I really can’t wait to go back
We went here for the new years eve outdoor dining experience. Everything was phenomenal. The food was out of this world. The drinks were great and a big shout out to the amazing staff who were friendly and attentive. The best way to ring in the new year.
Very nice food and ambiance. Staff is very energetic and always smiling.
Food was overall bland but good presentation. May be suitable for non-Indian guests. Food need more flavour to suit Indian palates.
We really enjoyed our night out at Daughter-in-law. The tasting menu was delicious and more than enough food our waitress was very helpful too I thought the music was just a bit too loud but nevertheless we will be coming back.
Highly recommended. Delicious food and great value.
Absolutely fantastic! Had the best night here!
Food was ok nothing extra ordinary.Unnecessarily expensive.
I wanted to experience so I went there, wouldn’t go again.
The food was delicious and different to any other Indian cuisine that we have had. The service was friendly and prompt and the atmosphere chatty. We can’t wait to bring our friends.
Exceptional. Phenomenal food and some of the best cocktails in the city
Tasty food, fantastic service and the tasting menu was great value. Would definitely go back
Food was great but well over priced (almost offensively so - gol gappas of the same caliber typically go at $3.5 for a plate of 6, not for 1). Seems to be selling an experience that caters to western audiences (even the descriptions: paapdi chaat as ‘Indian tacos’). As a Indian diner, it didn’t feel authentic to me. Glad I experienced it once but wouldn’t return.
