Dattilo Fine Italian at Water’s Edge
There for brunch. Sat at a table with dirty water glasses (food, fingerprints, and watermarks) and coffee mugs with coffee stains. Received new glasses, one with lipstick. Not good, especially during Covid.
Server wasn’t too swift and we were brought the wrong order. When we received ours also incorrect, and 2/3
Of us had to wait for a new order. Bland food for the cost. Only good thing was walking the grounds afterwards. Won’t be back for food, very subpar experience. Better food at a diner.
Panacakes and omelettes were a bit greasy but at least they were delicious. Would prefer they cook with less oil or butter.
Coffee and tea were not special. Diners provide hotter coffees and teas.
Beautiful outside view. Enjoyed the birds that would fly around.
Wonderful staff, beautiful view, and delicious food!
baby crying near us. But did not last for long. Lobster roll needed more butter.
They did a nice job, good food and service. Pleasant atmosphere and well priced.
Everything was perfect for the birthday celebration with my daughters and granbaby
We love dining at your restaurant. The atmosphere and food are always fabulous.
I always order salmon on your Caesar salad. Consistently delicious.
My husband ordered the Caesar with your yummy burger. Only complaint was they both were served at the same time. I normally wouldn’t mention it but when I said something to our waitress she said that the kitchen probably thought we were sharing the burger. I would think it was her job to inform the kitchen staff of when items were to be served and not blame someone else.
Otherwise top notch!
The appetizer was very salty, the chicken was overcooked so it was very dry and the spinach had no flavor. It was a disappointing dining experience because it was our 20th wedding anniversary and we were looking forward to dining at a "FINE" Italian restaurant which is how it is described.
A group of us went to brunch yesterday at Water's Edge for a birthday celebration. None of us has a positive thing to say about our experience.
1. The server was horrible - we kept having to ask for water refills and coffee refills. She disappeared for long periods of time, and when we did get her attention, her response time was slow.
2. The server either did not understand English or just ignored our requests. Four of us ordered omelets with different ingredients. Despite the fact she insisted in taking our orders in a specific order, none of them were delivered to the correct person. There were missing ingredients in at least one of them. Each of these orders were placed with a request for extra crispy homefries. None of them came that way. Some of those orders came with a jar of jam while others did not.
3. There was some confusion about the ability to order mimosas and bloody Mary's. The advertisement does not clarify that these cannot be ordered until 11:00. We now know it is a state law. Once 11:00 hit, some of us ordered cocktails. Two of us asked for pickle juice to be added to the bloody Mary's. This request was ignored by the waitress. When reminded, she looked like this was a new request. She took the drinks back to the bar, and they sat there for 10 minutes. I went to see what the issue was, and the bartender told me she had to go into the kitchen to find some. We also asked for a side of horse radish because they were not spicy. They also did not have that at the bar, and it never arrived. Clearly, the mix came from a bottle, and it was so sweet, none of us drank them. Even with the dill pickle juice in them. I was afraid to ask for Worcestershire sauce at this point.
4. The worst part was that there was a 18% gratuity added to our bill. I know this is standard practice, but it added insult to injury at that point.
5. By noon, all of us needed to eat lunch....
I did not get a chance to eat a formal lunch or dinner here. I ate breakfast here three times over a long weekend, including the a la carte Sunday brunch. The menu is a bit limited and simple, but the prices were very fair and the food was good. The service was a bit slow, especially when sitting outside, but I enjoyed the quiet and peaceful atmosphere and had a good overall experience!
Food was very good. However, they did not serve bread. When we asked they said because of the pandemic. Why was that.
Service was fair. The girl was good but she had too many tables. Took my knife and had to ask for a new one. Took quite awhile. I used my husbands.
I will say that due to pandemic services my suffer. However, hospitality is hospitality. When your in the hospitality industry guests should always be top priority. That just wasn’t the case here. From not sanitizing tables and chairs to server not being attentive. This is by far my worst experience. Will not recommend or return.
Upset there was no bread! We were the only ones eating for about 30 minutes. It felt strange.
Beautiful, clean with super service. Food was ok, but pricey.
Father’s Day and Birthday
Lovely view, good food and service people were top notch
The food was stale, poor quality. They should be ashamed.
One of the best Sunday Brunch in the State, loved the crepes flambee, and desserts, truly have to pace yourself at this one.
The food, service and ambiance were all outstanding! Only issue I had was that my main entree came out cold! I guess that’s not a big deal but it was not that busy in the restaurant at the time. I like my food at least warm! The bus girl brought it back and they redid my plate. The waitress apologized but that’s it.
Perfect night. Best table in the house, great food, great view. We will be back!!!
I came here during my stay at the hotel for dinner and brunch for my birthday weekend. I really wanted to experience the food and ambience, and boy did they serve.
At dinner we order the seafood tower for 2 as an app it was well presented but I do wish they would've gave us a lobster or crab cracker with our meal. also I'm not a huge raw clam and oyster person so a large portion of this dish i wasn't able to enjoy. However My friend loved it. For me if shrimp was added to the plate it would've made it a 10 from a 9.5 . For our entrees, I had the crab ravioli and my friend had the lamb chops the food was delicious, well prepared, and wonderfully presented. It was a wonderful experience and I would definitely come again for a good meal.
For Brunch the next day we waited until noon because it was extremely busy in the morning. We were seated by the window with the beautiful view. The brunch was buffet style with a very vast spread and everything was delicious.
This is definitely the place to come again and again
TLDR: view good, food good, vibe good
The waiter did not know his menu. He informed me that a dish that I ordered came with no sides, when in fact it did. I ordered a side of pasta which they charged me $12. He suggested a glass of wine and pointed to a $15 fee for glass on the menu, but then proceeded to pour a larger glass and charge us $22 a glass. I brought both issues to his attention which he did nothing but nod and walk away from the table.
The food fest was mediocre. This was a road trip, so it is not a place I would stop normally. If I were local, I would not go back again.
This place is as good as it gets for service and fine dining. We were a party of four and were staying at the resort. This was the third time we've dined here overall, and have never been disappointed.
Ambiance is lovely, service was very good, unimpressive menu, food quality was average.
Great value when you consider the location and view!! You would think the prices would be higher!
Our food was fabulous. Fresh fresh little necks...meant in your mouth. Crisp fresh salads, fun cocktail options, too.
A visit to the spa and then lunch? A perfect day!!!
One of the best brunches I've ever had. Terrific food in a lovely atmosphere.
Wonderful brunch!! Great variety. Friendly service.
Service was great, food was disappointing...bland flavors. Nice setting, very quiet as only one other table used while we were there.
The food selection was awesome !!!
Had a delicious lunch with some colleagues from out of town - they were blown away by the view and highly complimentary of the Datillo salads we ate. Delicious and delightful.
We went expecting a beautiful setting, outstanding cuisine and high prices. We got only 2 out of 3. The setting including decor and view were extremely beautiful. The prices were high as expected. But both of us felt the food was average and on the bland side this included their self-described “award winning clam chowder “, Caesar salad with shrimp added and tiramisu (the last 2 seemed like each wins for an Italian restaurant). The servers and hostess were all extremely nice and we enjoyed the relaxing surroundings but they really need to step up the flavor to justify the prices.
Our waiter Mario was outstanding. Can’t say enough good things about him. Would definitely request him again when we go back
had alot of food and choices, but the quality was not good. The crepes were pre made - there were NO crowds in fact the cooks where not even at stations ( there was alot of down time). The raw bar looked impressive, but the oysters and clams were shucked well in advance and probably refrigerated, so they were dry and no juice. Again could see no reason these could not be shucked closer to service time. The bacon was hard to chew. that usually means made in advance and reheated. The beef at the craving table was cold.
A very pretty place, the service was top notch, but the food no so much.
The food was delicious and the ambiance was warm and cozy with beautiful views of the ocean. Our waiter was attentive to our needs.
There was lots to choose from, but nothing that wowed is. The raw bar would be rated the highest; with the dessert part being less than average. For the price, just seemed okay.
The Water's Edge breakfast buffet is always a tremendous value and an exquisitely presented offering. Definitely worth a visit.
Very attentive server and busboy. Water glass was never empty. Salad and soup brought out quickly after order placed. Entrees were delicious. Dessert was scrumptious as well.
I had heard many wonderful things about The Water’s edge Brunch so I reserved for three friends for one of their birthdays. Beautiful setting facing a wall of windows facing the Long Island Sound on a cold but Sunny November morning. At first I thought the price point was high for brunch until I saw what was offered for food choices at the buffet. Amazing. Something for everyone’s palate. It is a great value for those with a larger appetite ie the males I know but for women, not so much. All in all the food was delicious and the setting was perfect. I only wish the young hostess was a little more pleasant.
