Das Ethiopian - Georgetown
Shrimp sautéed with onions, fresh garlic, tomatoes and special sauce
Ethiopian-style sautéed fish served with Awaze (hand crafted red pepper sauce)
Tender chicken, slow cooked in purified (clarified) butter flavored with curry and tamarind, hard boiled egg
Good food and service. Felt crowded and the ambience was just not right for
Such a great atmosphere! delicious food and gracious service! will return!
Great service and food, the quality and the hospitality of the team is fantastic.
Wonderful birthday celebration
Great food and service. Would definitely go back and recommend to friends.
People were very nice and all of us (4 people) enjoyed the meal and they were able to accommodate my gluten free and vegetarian friends/family.
Amazing food ! Great staff ! What a great place ! We ll be back very soon !!!
The staff was very nice and didn’t rush us at all even at closing. Great food!!
Given this is an ethnic restaurant, it would be great to have more guidance and storytelling around what you are ordering. Including the level of spicy which, in some dish, could be a little too much.
overall it is very good and very interesting, would be better if it was a little more "experience" than just ordering off the menu
Outstanding food and friendly staff. I cannot say enough good things about Das. Worth a special trip to Georgetown just to eat here.
Fabulously delicious food! Excellent presentation. Elizabeth, the owner ensured every customers meal experience was going well. Restaurant offers comfortable seating. Candles on table and lower lights in the evening an added plus. Staff was top notch and attentive to customer needs. We will be back to try more of the menu.
Lovely people and lovely food.
All around a great experience with Ethiopian cuisine for the first time. Look forward to returning
Food was excellent. Service was a bit slow. And they weren’t crowded, so no excuse.
I love this restaurant! I visit Das every time I'm in the DC area. The food is wonderful, with beautiful spices and with a wide variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices, all served family style on a big piece of Ethiopian flatbread. If you've never eaten Ethiopian food, you use a small piece of the bread to pick up each bite of food - it's a bit messy but a lot of fun. And if you don't feel comfortable eating with your hands, the servers are happy to bring you some utensils. The family that owns this restaurant is lovely, and the servers are all friendly and helpful in explaining the different items on the menu. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone - for those who don't like spicy food, there are plenty of delicious dishes with mild flavors. Try it!
Great food and presentation. Service was great. Noise level is pretty high inside so it wasn’t easy to talk.
So good!! The appetizer was amazing and it’s a great place to share a few things. Definitely will be back.
Excellent service, tasty food, but a bit loud indoors
Amazing service and food ! We had such a lovely evening
Overall very good experience with Ethiopian cheese appetizer and the service being the best. The entre chicken and beef combo was good. Considering the location and size of the portions it’s a great value.
To be fair the last time we visited was at the end of summer. We are outside and there were lots of bugs though the restaurant provided bug spray. There did not appear to be enough servers so we did experience the level of service we’ve come to expect. However we think that’s likely due to the Covid economy and staffing shortages.
One of my favorite spots in the city!
We had an incredible meal at Das. The best Doro Wat in the area. The ambiance was perfect for our party - simple and chic. Our servers were kind and attentive. We can’t wait to come back!
Consistently great food and service. Thank you!
Amazing experience- great place
Wonderful! The vegetarian and meat dishes were served on separate platters. The food was great, service great and a really nice atmosphere indoors.
I eat here monthly. The food is amazing, only made better by the service.
Excellent food & service. 10/10 would recommend. Only wish the restaurant were not as cold temperature wise.
What a great experience! Fantastic food, wonderful service! Loved it - can’t wait to go again.
Excellent food but a little bid noisy during dinner time
Perfect night gathering with college friends after 30 years. The service was perfect, the food was fantastic. Ethiopian beer is wonderful
Great place with quality food and service.
Wonderful experience for our family. The kids loved it. (10&16)
Amazing food and great service. Easily one of the best restaurants in DC!
Food was delicious. It was a crowded and busy Saturday night so there was normal dining noise but overall a very positive energy. I would definitely recommend this spot.
terrific authentic Ethiopian food, and great service. Inside can get crowded and noisy but that is part of the charm of the family style eating!…
Every time I’m in Georgetown I find a reason to eat at Das. The food is amazing and the service is always on point. If you’ve never had Ethiopian cuisine, Das is a great place to try it; order one of the samplers, or just ask for recommendations and try a variety of different dishes. You really can’t go wrong. I’m already looking forward to returning to Das for another amazing meal.
Great service, food, experience!! Very pleasant outdoor seating.
Fantastic food and great service.
