Das Ethiopian - Georgetown
Realty loved the food. Wish tea came in a bigger size (like a carafe or pot) and can't wait to be able to eat indoors, both floors look very inviting!
Wonderful restaurant with great food and service. We ordered the chicken tibs (which were great but a little on the milder side) and the vegetable platter. Both were amazing and the vegetable platter was quickly devoured. We also tried honey wine for the first time and that was so delicious.
With COVID restrictions we were only able to eat outside and in 30 degree weather, that meant we were battling wind and eating in our full winter coats. I wish they could have made it a little more insulated, but they did have a patio heater. Will definitely come back in warmer weather to enjoy this great food!
It was outside but comfortable with the heaters. Staff was kind and attentive, food was unified and delicious
My 3rd time here, and it was as amazing as the first time!
Excellent food, best Ethiopian in DC. I think the ambiance can be better.
Excellent food and service!
One of my favorite places.
We were finally able to return to Das after a long covid-induced absence. The occasion was my wife’s birthday and this is one of her favorite restaurants in the District. Few Ethiopian establishments deliver on the trifecta of food, friendly service and sophisticated ambiance as effectively as Das. We were thrilled to be back and cannot wait to return.
This place has become one of my top 2 restaurants in DC. The food is amazing, the place is simple, elegant, and beautiful, and the service is great! Looking fwd to going back soon.
Excellent, small, elegant Ethiopian restaurant. The food (we tried the sampler) is very flavorful, full of different tastes served on top of the typical bread (sorry forgot the name). The service is very kind and courteous. I definitely recommend and will be back.
Beautiful space and the food was immaculate! Service and host were great as well. Will DEFINITELY go back.
Always delicious! Great staff!
Dad Ethiopian has THE best Ethiopian food in the DC area. We would highly recommend the veggie combo and the special tibs together. Excellent food and excellent service.
Not Authentic but more suitable for American crowd and appetite. Service was OK consideration Covid-19 situation but the food was not 100% Ethiopian as to the spices and the taste. I have had better but no complaints coz Im certain if the serve the "Real" authentic Ethiopian food, no one wud come and that's quite understandable.
So so delicious and SO reasonably priced and very safe during the pandemic!
So good!! Really enjoyed. Was our first time and food was amazing as was service. Would definitely go back.
Its always wonderful from start to finish.
It was my first time going there and I enjoyed it.
The service was excellent the food was orgasmic! We enjoyed it so much we came back the next day!
Everything was perfect. Great experience sitting on the patio.
The owner is very kind and personally checked in on us. It was overall a wonderful lovely evening!!
Initially chose this place due to the outdoor seating option, but on the day of the reservation, it rained. However, the restaurant was prepared and the tables were spaced out (I didn't measure between each table, but I assume they were 6 feet apart).
Prior to entering the dining room, the hostess took our temps and asked for contact information for contact tracing purposes. We then received a squirt of hand sanitizer.
Food - very, very good. Ambiance allowed us to have a conversation. The staff were nice, wore masks, and very attentive.
From the moment we sat down the service was outstanding. Our server (apologies forgot the name) was amazing and happily handled every request. We had a sample of almost everything, my son having worked in Africa for many years, said the food and spices were spot on! We talked about the dining experience for the next couple days!
Wonderful food served by native Ethiopians that are justifiably proud of their food traditions.
Immaculate. Some of the best food I’ve ever had. The flavors were rich and potent yet well balanced. Hands down the best Ethiopian I’ve had the honor to taste. I wish I lived in Georgetown, I’d order or pick up every week.
Wonderful place to dine with an excellent ambience. Service is excellent
I have been going to this restaurant perhaps once a year for about a decade. I have never been disappointed with the food, service, or atmosphere. It is one of those restaurants I love to share with out-of-town work colleagues.
I was so happy to try this place with my kids on the way to NC. The food was excellent. We eat Ethiopian food a lot so you can get equivalent food in DC for less money, but you can’t beat the people watching from the prime location. I wish DAS was a bit more authentic in its decor, but overall it was a great experience.
Met a neighbor for dinner on their outdoor patio. Lovely!
This was my first time eating Ethiopian food! I was welcomed in and wildly impressed. A tremendous array of flavor, high quality, and I left feeling more satisfied than any restaurant experience in recent memory. Highly recommend!
Been here several times while visiting DC. Great every time. Service and food are amazing! The experience of a different food cultures comes alive. Sit outside and experience the people watching as well.
Outstanding service
We were lucky enough to find Das and have lunch this past Saturday. We were an early seating.
The restaurant is wonderfully appointed with a beautiful and immaculately clean interior.
The service was excellent (we were given a temperature check at the door and our contact information was taken for contact tracing of covid if needed). The service was kind and professional and made great recommendations.
We ate the sambusas which were delicious, the appetizer cheese, the meat sampler dish and beef tartare. All was excellent. I put a lot of spice in the tartare and I mentioned this to the server who offered the chef to remake it to make it more mild. It was not necessary but it was a kind offer!
Would highly recommend giving this establishment a try. Everything was excellent and I would most certainly return.
The Kitfo (an Ethiopian spicy Steak Tar Tar) was fantastic with home-made cheese! The fish and ribs were great though the chicken dish was tasty, the leg was a little dry. Otherwise, everything was good, fresh Injera and even Tej from Ethopia itself and not from the US as you find in other restaurants. Beautiful restaurant in the Easternmost part of Georgetown so it is convenient to the Foggy Bottom Metro station.
Convenient location in Georgetown. We were staying at Four Seasons and it’s across the street from the hotel. We love trying new foods and enjoyed it. My only negative was it’s a little to spicy for me. Great atmosphere and service
The food is good just as the service. The place is in a very nice location. The ambience is a quiet and nice one. The value for the food is great.
Excellent restaurant!!! Great food, kind service, lovely feeling, we envoyed a lot!!
Great food, lovely space, staff very courteous
Great restaurant! This did not make the list of Top Ethiopian restaurants in DC that I had perused so I wasn't sure what to expect but it was terrific!
Food was excellent. I had the vegetarian sampler and my friend had a beef dish. Service was excellent. Dining room is small so it was a bit noisy when all tables were full. Prices were also very good. Highly recommend.
