Cutler & Co
Opened in February 2009 by Chef Andrew McConnell, the restaurant reflects his passion for exceptional and often unusual produce. Cutler & Co. has most recently been awarded 2 hats by The Age Good Food Guide 2016.
Andrew’s only fine dining venue, Cutler & Co. strikes a balance between elegance and simplicity with service that is welcoming and relaxed without compromising on attention to detail.
The flexibility of the dining room encourages leisurely family lunches, corporate dining, appetisers and drinks at the bar, pre-theatre dinners or a full degustation experience.
For a truly memorable occasion the restaurant can also be hired for exclusive functions such as weddings, work events or engagement parties.
Second visit. Loved it the sommelier was brilliant. The food was delicious as usual but some of our group were still hungry when we left which is unusual compared to last time. The ONLY issue we had, maybe because we are older was it was too dark to read the menus or find the bathrooms. Yep first world problem. We will be back cheers Jen
Wonderful food, service and surroundings. A place for a special occasion or when you really want to spoil yourself.
Cutler & Co is everything you want in a first class restaurant experience, i thoroughly recommend it
It is a great restaurant, but to expensive for what you get
If you are fancy and would like to spend money come here otherwise just eat somewhere cheaper and be satisfied.
Beautiful venue, with delicious food and great ambience and service.
Winter game themed dinner was very good especially game terrine and kangaroo tartare. Well balanced food and wine match, excellent service in a spacious and attractive setting. An excellent evening!
Fine dining with great service, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful space and lighting with candle light. Finished dinner 23:30 and were still offered extra drinks, so no rush at all. Fantastic experience, would recommend!
Good services, Good Food
Fabulous night. Great for a special occasion, or any occasion
We have been coming to Cutler and Co for over 10 years and no other restaurant has taken it's place in our hearts!
The dry duck with quince was spot on, really like it
The food was excellent and the service was especially professional and attentive. This a first class restaurant by any measure.
Great atmosphere and location. The food was delicious and the presentation of the food was very impressive and beautiful. The flavours were lovely. Definitely recommend this restaurant.
Great atmosphere great service and great food l have told family and friends to try this place it's that good
We have loved this place since inception - Sunday night dinner was a little lacking and lacklustre.
Fundamentally your protein choice was fish or pork. My pork chop was dry on one end and lovely on the other. Not particularly flavoursome nor exciting and pretty uninspired. Fish was nice but starters were also lacklustre.
Recommended by a friend as a perfect place to top off our holiday and celebrate 2 birthdays. And nothing disappointed!! The service was absolutely top notch - staff going the extra mile to make the amazing food the centerpiece of the experience. A meal to remember. Thank you!
Food was excellent. Service of staff was also great.
If we visit Melbourne next time. we love to visit here again.
Fantastic experience for a romantic night. Dishes were excellent. The duck breast was the best duck I've ever had. Great service and an amazing setting. Definitely an expensive dinner experience but one I was happy to pay for. Overall I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you appreciate fine dining and good wine.
Fantastic service and food was delicious. We had Sunday set menu and I highly recommend it to anyone.
My partner and I had high expectations of cutler&co, but unfortunately, we left the establishment unimpressed. We had the Sunday 85pp menu. To be fair, the mains (scotch fillet and fish) were well cooked but that was it. Everything else was mediocre at best. The oysters and desert were really disappointing. I can get better oysters at Queen Vic Market. For dessert, we had the Mandarin Curd icecream - really disliked the fact that the translucent skin of the orange was left on, it was hard to chew and as a dish, it lacked finesse. Did not like the warm chocolate tart as well. It was rich, but not the good kind. There was a dollop of prolly sour cream at the side but it did nothing to balance the dish. Wished we had a different experience.
Amazing food, very knowledgeable staff and great wine list
A little disappointing, given the price and hype. Mains a little fatty and underwhelming.
Disappointed that we sat in the back corner of the restaurant with zero ambience. Value for money very poor. Limited selection of menu items and overpriced.
Fantastic food and service in a restaurant that ticks all the boxes. The duck was to die for and was only eclipsed by the desserts. Wish I could eat here every week
Delicious!! One of my favourite dinners I have had yet
We had a nice dinner we chose to order off the menu as we couldn't see the value in the five course set option. The sommelier was very knowledgeable.
Knowledgeable staff, great food, lovely ambience.
We had a tremendous time at Culter and Co. I've always been impressed with this restaurant. Being the allocated driver this time round, I found the mocktail menu particularly impressive. The waitress was particularly helpful in choosing matching drinks with our selected food. You can't go past this restaurant for a special evening.
Delicious food. Great service. So yum. Would recommend
Excellent service, lovely quiet ambience, food was superb.
The Sunday lunch prix fixe was excellent and surprisingly generous. I’ll be coming back with the whole family so we can try and share more dishes!
We had a simply marvelous experience. Mid-week makes all the difference. A bit quieter on the diner front, meant that the staff had that little bit of extra time to interact with us and the kitchen to be able to manage some special requests.
The only qualm, we had a table near us who were boisterous. Not Cutler & Co's fault.
Went there based on recommendations and this place didn’t disappoint. I was left alone with the menu longer than i felt i should have but overall a must do!!! Divine food and the suckling oig was amazong but the chargrilled cabbage was the best
i always tell my friends that service is at Cutler and Co is the best service in Melbourne!
Also foods are always amazing:)
Thank you so much! I will def come back again!
I went to Cutler & Co for my husband's birthday. We live in Brisbane, and this trip to Melbourne was my birthday present to him. I organised a number of restaurants, bars and experiences for him. Cuttler & Co was the one place we were most excited to try as they are supposed to be one of the best restaurants in Melbourne. I made a note into my online booking's description that this was my husband's birthday dinner celebration.
When we got to Cutler & Co, the place was busy and the atmosphere was nice. However, they had a huge private function going on that night and the staff seemed to be highly concerned with THAT function and the service in the main restaurant was lacking care and attention. Our waitress (a blond girl which unfortunately I can't remember her name) was cold and did her bare minimum. She acted like a robot and did not seem like she wanted to be there. She seemed to be fully in auto-mode and acted like she was doing us a favour by serving us (so much so that we wanted a picture of that evening and I could not get myself to ask her to take a picture of us. I ended up asking another staff member). The service was EXTREMELY slow, our food took forever to get to our table (again, the food to the function was constantly going) and we were left there waiting without any explanation.
We had 5 courses over more than 3.5hrs and the last 2 courses were delivered at the SAME time. No one came to our table and asked if we were fine. When we asked for the bill no one asked how our experience was and we left feeling extremely disappointed with the service.
The food, when eventually got to our table, was nice and tasty but the fact that it had taken so long to be served, coupled with the extremely poor service and total disregard for our time and the fact that it was a special night for us: we left with a bitter taste and we'll certainly not going back.
You are better trying Vue de Monde, Igni or even Cumulus Inc. (this owned by the same Cutler people).
We enjoyed our Sunday lunch at Cutler & Co. The entrees were delicious, however the main pasta (garganelli) was disappointing. I was so looking forward to lovely tender homemade fare, however the actual pasta was firm and and not very tasty. My dessert of chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream was scrumptious. Attentive, friendly service. Thanks
My wife and I shared a wonderful night of great food, excellent wine and remarkable friendly service from people who enjoy their work and want the customer to feel comfortable and welcome. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience fine food and a special night out.
An enjoyable evening enjoying a scrumptious meal. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive.
