Our pride and joy – the climate controlled cellar – houses a considered and ecletic selection of wine. Focusing on the best examples of vintage, variety, style and region, it offers an extensive range from both the New World and the Old.
The menu is designed by Andrew McConnell and Colin Mainds to complement the wine. Whether it be a casual after work snack or the full affair – a stunning chef’s selection showcasing raw seafood, locally sourced produce like Macedon duck and O’Connor beef from Gippsland.
European in atmosphere, the space balances edgy luxe and familiar classic to gorgeous effect. Featuring parquet timber floors, the interior is warm and elegant.
Fabulous food, wine and service. Highly recommended.
This is my new favourite place in Melbourne. The food is delicious and high quality, the menu changes regularly, the friendly staff are terrific at matching wines to the food ordered, love the relaxed ambience and stylish decor. What’s not to like?
I visited Melbourne for work but met my daughter and her partner for dinner. The ambiance, service and food were outstanding. This is my third recent visit and as always it did not disappoint.
We opted for the chefs selection with matching wines, it was delicious food and wine pairings were perfect all very high quality and superb food! Couldn’t recommend higher for somewhere to celebrate or to take someone you want to impress.
We are regulars at Cumulus (downstairs) and were delighted that upstairs delivered on the food, service and ambience. Couldn’t fault a thing! Was also fantastic that 99% of the food is celiac friendly. We will definitely be back!
Great place, extensive wine list. Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations!
The chef's set menu had some outstanding elements, however, the dessert and cheese dish were disappointing.
Great food & outstanding service. Cozy ambience
Lively noisy winebar with seriously good food and, as you would expect, a large local and foreign wine list...however compared to other classy Australian restaurants the quantities poured for the pricey wine seemed ungenerous given the atmosphere, though perhaps quantities were technically correct. However the bill was full of overcharges and this might have been due to the frenetic atmosphere. The wait staff were clearly struggling at times over the noise of crowds and clanging "edgy" warehouse styling of this trendy upstairs dining area above a very successful Melbourne breakfast institution (same name) which is also open for a noisy dinner, even louder downstairs though. Interestingly, when we arrived and accidentally opened the door to the downstairs Cumulus Cafe eatery, we were told the Cumulus Up was the "romantic" venue of the two. Who'd have guessed? So bring your ear trumpet and enjoy some very interesting food and wine menus. By the way, the wine waiter who served and explained stuff to us so well without being haughty was superb!
Excellent food and such perfect service! Thanks for a great night!
We opted to have the feed me menu as it was a special occasion, majority of the food was amazing and the wine pairing was lovely however the mains were disappointing. The fish was rubbery and the spatchcock was returned to the kitchen as it was undercooked.
Loved everything about it, food ambiance and service was great. Only thing I’d say is it’s a little loud, especially if you are trying to chat and have. Quieter dinner.
Beautiful food. Impeccable service. Is expensive, but the price reflects the value and quality of ingredients in the food/drinks. Nice environment, a little bit dark (so minor though) and bathrooms are clean.
The food is the best in Melbourne at this price range. Usually I find fine dining means a lot of money for not much in flavour and little quantity. But this place delivers in quality of food. It can be quite noisy on a busy night due to hard surfaces.
Dinner was great , we tried some of the specials and stye were delicious. Service was attentive and timely and all of the staff were very friendly and knowledgable about both the food and wine. Lovely room with a chilled and relaxed vibe. Thanks we had a great meal
We had a great night! Delicious, and the service was great. Thank you!
Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Some prices a bit exorbitant. What I loathed and felt a little bit ashamed of was the fact that not only is there excessive upselling but when I went to pay you now ask for tips and we have to push a button before we pay. Whilst I can appreciate fine dining, this is not America. I feel ashamed that this culture has even infiltrated your wonderful Australian band and was very taken aback that you were asking for more money for items that were already heavily marked up and already above the minimum wages standards so it remains questionable for the value for money. I will take caution when choosing to dine again.
Exceptional in every way! Looking forward to our next visit already.
Great ambience and spacious environment.
Excellent selection of red wines.
Food was of exceptional quality, although limited in choices.
Noise levels were acceptable, probably expected for a more casual dining.
Overall, highly recommend !!!
Wonderful from start to finish. Great service and simply amazing food.
Lovely experience, great food. Fantastic wine pairings. Great value for tasting menu topped off by fantastic service!
Great little spot that we decided to try as main restaurant Cumulus was not available. We enjoyed great food and wine and the service was friendly and helpful.
A wonderful space, gorgeous food and amazingly helpful staff. The foie gras waffle is a must!
Admittedly, I was trying to stick to a Keto diet, so I didn't immerse myself in all Cumulus had to offer, however what we did try was flavourful, well presented and fresh. The atmosphere was smooth, and would be great for small groups, or something more intimate :)
Beautiful food. Excellent wine. Great service. Great value. A rare mummies night out with the tasting menu was thoroughly enjoyed.
Enjoyed finding a city restaurant with novel cuisine.
Menu: Not sure the flank was the best choice; a little of that 'old meat' flavor coming through and less than tender, as we were warned by the waiter. Service from the waiter was remarkably attentive.
Must say the WBTG offering was pretty limited; compared with the full wine list.
A little alarmed when the chair allocated almost collapsed, which could have resulted in an injury.
Otherwise an enjoyable 2 hours with you all.
Food and service were fantastic. We had the “menu” which was well balanced and gave us plenty to eat.
The suggested wine perfectly complimented the meal.
Fantastic food and wine, as well as excellent digestif selection. Only downside was that all the hard surfaces in the restaurant make it very noisy while busy!
Great value for money. I love a short menu which allows you to combine and share and gives you the impression to have tried almost everything. Specially when every dish is a hit.
I booked but it was impossible to talk to a fried who has travelled a long way for a dinner and catch-up. so we left.
Nit much help at desk.
Won't go back.
A great restaurant for celebrations. The decor and round table are perfect for sharing conversations and food. The service was impeccable and friendly.
Cumulus Up is a lovely little hideaway in the heart of the bustling CBD. The dining room atmosphere is perfect for a rainy day, late-night and pre-theatre bite.
We loved our experience at Cumulus Up. I would highly recommend the chefs tasting menu, everything was absolutely delicious! The wine menu is very extensive... maybe a little overwhelming if you’re like me and know nothing about wine but the cheat sheet menu at the front made it easy to choose. The front of house staff were so lovely and friendly. The gentleman who waited on us was so enthusiastic, helpful and very kind. We don’t often have the previldge to fine dine so we were so grateful to feel so welcomed. I mentioned in our booking that we were celebrating an anniversary and they selected what I thought was one of the best tables, as it was more private than other spots, I really appreciated this. I loved Cumulus Up. and I will definitely be back!
Had a lovely dinner, great ambience and the pace was perfect, definitely not too rushed.
Had a brilliant night. Our waiter Chris was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable when it came to the food and paired wines.
Looking forward to our next visit in the not to distant future.
Food, service and lighting was 10/10 could not fault it.
Busy place. Service was good overall but had missed an entree - they were quite apologetic and comped the missing entree. Good food. Would be back.
Good food and drinks. Service was good, wait staff were friendly. Great for share plates with friends.
Our first meal in Melbourne at Cumulus Up was outstanding. We got the tasting menu with wine pairing, and our waiter selected wines to suit our taste, which was a lovely touch. Every course was delightful, with particularly impressive charcuterie, excellent duck and a particularly delicious chocolate dessert (apparently a special to celebrate the restaurant’s birthday). Very different vibe to the downstairs restaurant, this place is perfect for a special meal. Buzzing, but not too loud.
Don’t normally go to these places as I’m usually eating on the cheap but this is totally worth it once in a while for us! Friendly staff and amazing food!
