Cugino's Italian Restaurant
Food and service was excellent
Food and service are excellent. Pleasant atmosphere, delicious food.
This might be the best food I ever ate. The Gnocchi with the wild mushroom sauce is amazing. But the best part is the dessert. The Semifreddo specifically.
We heard varying opions from friends so we decided to try it ourselves. We invited two close friends for a quite evening out. The service, atmosphere, food and wine in our opinions were all supurb. Thank you Gugino’s for the pleasant evening.
It was a Monday night around 730 and the place was pretty empty. We got a wonderful greeting as we walked in to the restaurant. We had a reservation and felt very welcomed. The place itself is nice, pleasant. We each had a glass of the house wine, my husband had the red and I had the white. His red wine was very good and my white wine was acceptable. I ordered the house made lobster ravioli and he had the pork tenderloin Marsala. On the website there is a picture of the lobster ravioli. The dish I was served looked nothing like the illustration, nor was it something I would serve to anyone. The portion was generous probably six ravioli. The noodle itself was gummy and did not taste in the least like any fresh pasta I’ve ever had. The filling consisted of ricotta cheese and possibly egg. There was no lobster to be found. It did taste like it may have been cooked in a seafood stock. The sauce of which there was hardly any was a red sauce and it was very, very dry and tasteless. It didn’t match the description of being a tomato cream sauce with crispy basil. There was no basil. There was no cream. There was no lobster.I have had much better ravioli than this even from the freezer. I ate one and left the rest. The waiter, who I believe was also the owner, just took the plates away and didn’t ask. I would normally comment, but this evening we had to leave and do other things and I didn’t feel like getting into a discussion about what was obviously a seriously poor dish. The pork tenderloin Marsala was decent, although the pasta that came with that was very very chewy did not taste like fresh pasta. I found the food extremely disappointing and my husbands was marginal. I don’t know if this was an off night or not but I will not go back to find out. I have to say it’s one of the poorest meals I’ve ever paid to have.
People are SUPER friendly and courteous. Husband had the pork osso bucco and he loved it. I had the bolognese. Could have been hotter, also a little dry. But lots of flavor and I hate the whole thing!
It was restaurant week. Cugino’s had a special menu. Very good deal. I had the chicken parmigiana with Caesar salad, Chianti and tiramisu. The salad was over the top. All 4 of us were raving about it. Chicken parmigiana with homemade pasta and sauce was the best. I truly enjoyed the dessert and the Chianti.
Service- perfect. Very attentive.
Quality - excellent
Ambience - good. It was quiet, I like that. Decor was a little on the plain side, but that’s okay. Food more than makes up for it.
After hearing so many good things we were all looking forward to dining at Cugino's. Very disappointing. It was restaurant week and this is the time to "woo" new customers! Beet salad was a plate of arugala with ONE (seriously) sliced beet cut in half. Dressing was almost non existent. Bread was an odd square of very thinly sliced dry bread with some sort of spicy hot spread. Linguini and clam sauce only had 5 or 6 clams and was luke warm and very bland. Two of the diners at our table ordered Bolognese which was flavorful but again, both meals were only luke warm and the pasta was thick & pasty. There was a mix-up in the kitchen and the 4th diner's meal of chicken parmesan came out late (but was the star of all 4 dinners and the only one which was hot!). Tiramisu was excellent. We had to ask for coffee which was also just luke warm and the server never came back to ask if we wanted refills. My suggestion would be do not participate in restaurant week unless you are prepared to serve at a top notch level and impress customers. Lovely restaurant but very poor first experience.
Best restaurant in Buffalo. The food is amazing, the owner and his staff are just outstanding. They make you feel like family! We go back here over and over again. Love them!
Nice place, service overdone. Went on Saturday night @ 6:30 & the place was almost empty except for 2 other tables. This place is masquerading as an Italian restaurant, it's not. I could go on about why but I won't. I will say that there are many wonderful Italian restaurants in the area that are authentic & more reasonably priced.
Great food and service! We will definitely be back soon!
Very disappointed. We dine here often and this was our worst experience. Pasta and vegetables were badly over cooked. However, the service was excellent as usual. Was the owner out of town a factor? Could be.
Our waitress was so nice and attentive. The food was good. It was a little odd for us as we were literally the on 2 people in the restaurant for a 7:30 Saturday evening reservation, not another person entered.
What a find! The food was amazing and the service was fantastic. I cannot wait to return.
Classy, sophisticated atmosphere. Quiet & great for conversation. Nice change!
Always had a fantastic meal, nice choice of specials. Portion sizes are just right.
Pleasant servers and a gracious and friendly proprietor. A nice change from the too many
noisy restaurants around town.
Lovely dining room bright and clean
All staff wonderful
Price very fair !
The food, service and restaurant are impeccable. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and will return.
Great food great host! Perfect for a business meeting. Thank you, will come again.
Very hospitable staff and environment with excellent menu selections.
I think they were definitely understaffed for the Holiday weekend! We waited a 1/2 hour just to have our drink order taken. A BD celebration was mentioned at time of reservation but nothing was done to acknowledge this occasion. Usually very happy with our experience here but unfortunately not this time!
Our first visit to Cugino's, but I don't anticipate it being our last. The food was very good, homemade pasta is always a favorite of mine. The wine list is nice; a little bit of everything and in every price range. I wish we'd had room for dessert.
The service was fantastic, everything attended to quickly, and with professionalism and personality.
I would suggest OpenTable update their dress for this restaurant, however, I would certainly put it as business casual, not casual. We went casual and certainly felt under-dressed.
Frank the owner was very attentive and even gave us a free drink at he end of the meal. The meal was terrific and the entire evening was very much enjoyed by both of us.
Food and service was excellent. Lovely presentation. It was quiet when we were there. Four other tables. Everything is a la carte so it is expensive. The special was $40 so I suggest that you ask before ordering. The owner is omnipresent and takes great pride in his establishment.
It was our first time there and the owner frank was very friendly. The food was excellent. We will definitely be back.
If you haven't been to Cugino's yet YOU MUST GO!!!!! Owner greets you and is there the whole time making sure your meal and service is impeccable. Great menu and very reasonably priced for a White Table Cloth high end restaurant. From the fresh bread and delicious dipping sauce, to the Arancini appetizer, fabulous Salads and entree's made with house made Pasta, everything about this restaurant was 5 stars. Cannot say it enough, you must go and find out for yourself how top notch this restaurant is.
Cugino's is that rare, wonderful type of restaurant where all the pieces fit together for a great dining experience. The ambiance is a subtle elegance with a calming feel that aids digestion and conversation. The food is consistently excellent with a gracious wait-staff and an owner who knows how to make all of his Patrons feel valuable and welcome . It feels like you're eating at a Friend's home who really knows how to cook. When I want a great dining-out experience, this is one of my top go-to places.
Service with a hug and food that never disappoints.
From being seated to end of meal, poor experience.
Cocktail was warm, s/b chilled.salad was supposed to have gorganzola on it however none there. Meal was just fair.
Dessert was good . Coffee was cool. Never offered additional coffee. Service just ok.
The food is fabulous every time we are there. The owner Franco and his staff, especially his waitress Angela, are amazing. They are warm and welcoming and make you feel like family. This is one of our favorite places!
Everyone is so friendly, always had a glass of water or whatever was needed, was really enjoyable. We will be back, thank you!
Owner was so wonderful and had great stories. Amazing food and establishment.
Always a welcoming and delicious place to dine. Dinner was terrific and service was superb.
Food quality was very high...everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Salads were ample and unique in what they contained...roasted beets were special. Wine is a bit pricey. Owner waited on us. Took great pride in his food and facility. Explained all specials in detail and never hurried us....very attentive. We have eaten at Cuginos before and will definitely go there again. All in all a very comfortable experience for everyone in our party of four.
Stopped for dinner after a Saturday matinee at MusicalFare theatre. Our servers were attentive and the food was very good.
Both mine and my wife’s dinner was of A one quality, highlighted by the fresh made pasta! Bring your expectations and enjoy!
Great experience and great food.
Food was very good, our server was great calamari was one of the best we ever had tender and tasty.
