Cubé Mayfair

Quality deteriorated significantly since opening for the omakase menu. I called ahead of time mentioning it was a birthday celebration and requested something small. They said they could arrange a candle on the ice cream on the phone but never did anything when the time came. Very disappointing.
Fantastic small restaurant that offers Omakase as well as other items. The sushi chef was interactive if you wanted him to be and the host was very knowledgeable. Off the beaten path in a very busy area. Would highly recommend.
Awesome. Was like being taken back to Kyoto. Best omakase in London
The food was perfect, but very small portions per dish. There were 3 of us, and we shared 1 bottle of the least expensive red wine, and each paid £58. Without the wine, it would have been approximately £45 each. The location, service, and ambiance were all very good.
We went to the Cube Mayfair for a lunch among three of us and found the experience very disappointing, mainly the food.
Some reviews for the restaurant:
Foie Gras Don - the foie gras was not as expected pan fried. It was not pan fried to the level which outside is slightly burned and crispy and inside soft. The sauce is way to sweet for the foie gras and rice. No other accompany garnish for the meal.
Sushi set - half of the sushi was Tuna which was slightly smelly to all of us. The other pieces were not tasty just really average sushi.
Rock shrimp tempera - coating was way too thick and the sauce was again too sweet
Teriyaki Salmon Don - Salmon again in very sweet sauce. The sashimi came with the don was fine. Thats why we could find the sushi roll tuna was bad because the sashimi tuna was actually fine.
The whole meal cost nearly 120 pounds which we all think was not at all value for money. We think the food is no where close to the price.
Endless love
we had the Sunday deal and the food was excellent, about the best value you could get for Japanese food of this standard. must more is left to be desired from the some of the service staff though. overall, a pleasant experience
Food was great.
We had a reservation at 21:00 and the place was empty. Last order 21:10 they told us. We had to order in a rush and everyone wanted to leave. We had dinner in 20 minutes.
Superb. The best sushi I have had outside of Japan.
Fresh ingredients
The sushi was ok, we were seated downstairs in the basement which was odd. After somehow mistakenly booking the wrong menu which wasn't clear.
I lived in Tokyo many years and sampled a LOT of incredible sashimi and sushi and I am very familiar with Japanese cuisine. I would rate the dishes here as easily comparable to some of the best have eaten in Japan. The sashimi especially is extraordinarily tender and tasteful, generous portions beautifully presented. The atmosphere is very low key and intimate. Prices are not cheap at all but it is worth it. I recommend going here once and give it a go if you love raw fish, in preference to multiple visits to less impressive places. Jem
Cozy atmosphere and delicious, high quality food.
Always great food and great service! Tried some new tapas style dishes and they were excellent.
Love to visit again and again and again!! Thank you so much.
Delicious lunch set , great value for money , very authentic Japanese food
probably the best omakaze i had in london. and the staff and chef is very friendly making u feel comfortable.
Great food. Japanese will never be cheap in london but this was average priced. Every dish was quite good.
Food was excellent as always. But only thing we were not happy about was one of the service persons tried to take empty dishes too soon while we were still eating! It’s so disturbing and not authentic Japanese way of hospitality. Hope this will be improved very soon as the food served is always very good.
Excellent food! Would definitely recommend and have done in the past. Very fresh and high quality sashimi.
Delicious! Great service.
Great authentic japanese dinner!
I was recommended by one of my friends. The location is great!! The restaurant was really quiet and not crowded. The service was good as well. However, it did take some time for the dishes to come, but it was alright as the food were excellent!! Will come again.
A very good Japanese restaurant. I would say among the best in London. Fair price
My husband and I came here on a Saturday night and not sure what to expect but we were blown away by the quality of the sushi. We love our sushi and know our sushi so this was truly special. Don’t expect a high end flashy interior on the contrary it’s authentic and small and a gem.
Glad we tried it and will be going a lot more.
Good omakase experience with counter sushi service. Fish tasted fresh and it was nice to know where they sourced their fish from. An enjoyable meal although as a higher end restaurant, I felt the service staff could have been a little more courteous and gentle, which is kind of what you usually expect and see in a Japanese restaurant.
Wagyu beef burger is just too good.
They didn't have what I wanted on the menu. My food was served way before my friend's food was ready.
I have visited this restaurant several times. The food is always very good and beautifully presented, but the service, although good, is not quite at the same level - attentiveness paid by the waiting staff is inconsistent and not quite reaching expectations for a relatively expensive Mayfair Japanese restaurant.
I had a lunch Bento set which includes sashimi, deep fried tofu, edamame, salmon teriyaki with vegetables, miso soup and rice. Very authentic and a fabulous value! Definitely I will go back and also recommend it to my friends. Because of the popularity of Japanese food, there are many restaurants serving what they call Japanese food but quite often they are not authentic or high quality. Cube serves authentic and high quality Japanese food.
We were on vacation in London last year and went to Cube for the first time - when we returned this year, Cube was one of the first reservations I made! We were not disappointed.
Fantastic place for a low key lunch with amazing food and service
Absolutely fantastic traditional Japanese dining!
Enjoyed our daughters birthday here and found the food to be excellent in a wonderful atmosphere with great service, much recommended.
Just perfect- the food, atmosphere, service
Nothing to say. Outstanding as usual
Amazing dinner
Lovely! Food was great. Open kitchen but you can’t see the chef making the wonderful sushi, a glass countertop would be awesome addition
Very nice Japanese restaurant, very authentic and food was delicious. I would definitely go back.
Every time I go there, there is something new to please me. This time, I absolutely enjoyed lotus root with baked cheese and spicy cod roe. What a creative combination! Even in Japan I cannot find such an amazing dish ! Japanese whisky sour was also a perfect cocktail for a hot summer day. I've already started to plan my next visit.
