Visited recently for Sunday dinner with friends and it was appalling! Service, food, literally everything. Whereas visited a few times previously on other days and was the compete opposite!
This visit was exceptional. Went for our wedding anniversary and the service and food was outstanding! The new set dinner menu had better options, although we chose to from the a la carte one.
The starters and mains were extremely tasty and really pleased to see that there was new waiting staff who have experience and actually come across as knowing what they are doing!
I told John about this, I.e. our Sunday dinner disaster and how amazing this visit was!
Everything was lovely, my only criticism is that they ensure bottles of wine are chilled, our bottle was warm so we put ice cubes in our glasses which isn’t really ideal.
Excellent lunch, pleasant staff. Have booked again
It’s our first time at cross guns, the staff were lovely. Food was amazing, we will be back for more. Well worth the money
Absolutely superb food! The land sharing platter was delicious and excellent quality. Highly recommend the rib for mains - best I have ever had! Everything beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Congratulations to the chefs, very impressive and will certainly be returning.
Gorgeous food and drinks, great service and lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
We went on Saturday evening and were sat next to a table of 20 plus with several young children, who, whilst not unruly by any stretch, were noisy. We were booked in for 7.45pm and our waitress explained she thought they would have gone by the time we were booked in. However, it's Saturday night and you expect some noise.
Food was very good (altho we did mention a steak we ordered was fairly tepid and we thought it had been left to stand for a while).
Biggest disappointment with our order was cheese & biscuits...three very small slithers of cheese and three biscuits £10!!!! Before we had chance to mention this a further four biscuits arrived. Biscuits wasn't the problem - the lack of cheese was! Our waitress came to ask if we were ok - she was very embarrassed about this and went to retrieve more cheese. She appeared with something more substantial and apologised profusely.
Our waitress was an absolute star - Freya!
Whilst it seemed like the Manager on duty wasn't really interested in us, Freya went out of her way to ensure we were looked after.
Cross Guns - look after her!
The food was lovely and the service was very good poor lighting just about read the menu and very noisy where our table was positioned
Choose the Cross Guns for good food and craft beer. No craft beers on tap at all. Food expensive for the poor quality food served.
Hi we dined at the cross guns restaurant, we had a lovely meal, the choice off food was excellent, our waiter was very helpful in helping us to choose our starters, oysters where delicious and served lovely, would definitely recommend to our friends and family, and we will be back.
Food good. Restaurant service great.
Seemed a bit disorganised when we arrived, we were left waiting for quite a while.
The bar area lacks atmosphere compared with the restaurant which had a really nice ambience.
On the whole, the food was good especially mains, but dessert was average. Will return and recommend.
Great improvement since last visit. Food and service both tiptop. Two/three course dinner set menu really good value. Looking forward to next visit!
Lovely food, nice surroundings and good service.
The portions were extremely small. We had Sunday lunch, although tasty there hardly any vegetables and there were 2 slices of beef which were tiny. We left hungry . Shame because it’s a nice restaurant.
Fab as always, can’t fault the food and service
Good food reasonably priced in pleasant surroundings
Sunday roast was great -
Really enjoyed the chicken roast however, the service was even better.
Great service and amazing food. Fantastic setting.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere
Absolutely lovely, 3rd time coming since it's been done up and the food is just outstanding.
It's our new favourite place to go!
We had a lovely Anniversary lunch, the food, service and whole experience was great. Would certainly recommend and look forward to returning.
Some serious investment in this beautiful old building has made this one of the stand out places to eat in Bolton. They know how to look after their beer, the White Witch in particular was seriously good.
The wine list is quality - not sure how they price it but the mark ups are fractional compared to most restaurants I’ve been to. Food choices good - all the meat from Barron’s of Bolton - easily the top local butcher. 28 day aged fillet was superb - they will even do it ‘blue’ for you which is unusual these days. There is an outside bar area which has a lovely alpine feel to it. Overall best place to eat out in Bolton by a country mile.
We had a drink in the very chic cocktail bar then had a fabulous meal. The waiter was very efficient and professional. It’s not the first time dining here and we will definitely be back soon.
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere cocktail bar upstairs is 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Fantastic food, excellent service in delightful surroundings. However taking account of the prices, I would not expect to pay extra for chips with a steak!
Table for four last night in the Restaurant.
We thoroughly enjoyed each course. We chose from both the À la Carte and the Set Dinner. Two of the party had the Surf & Turf and the steak was perfect. One rare, one medium rare.
There was a buzz about the place which was great. We had a most enjoyable evening.
Best meal I’ve had in a while. The food was amazing and great service. Also loving the new refurb.
The renovations are a well addition to Egerton. Friendly/ professional staff special mention to Alberta truly a credit to the restaurant.
Good food. Little disappointed with the starter but the Sunday lunch certainly made up for it and that. The sticky toffee pudding is by far the best I’ve had.
Will recommend it to our friends
Food was absolutely delish. Probably the best roast dinner I’ve ever had. Only slight downside was being sat near where the food pass is and it was quite loud. I didn’t mention it at the time though as I’m sure they would have accommodated us to move. Would definitely recommend
Very busy A little overpowering since it was the meal out in over a year. Food excellent Staff could not have done more
Quality food and service. Good options for dairy free and vegans.
The food was lovely, but the Menu was a little pricey
We had a lovely evening spent time in cocktails bar which was really fun, however I thought the cocktails were quite expensive. Need to have a happy hour to get more people in … more people could lead to cheaper prices. But all together a great experience.
Excellent food and the presentation was fabulous.
Waiting on staff were friendly.
Lovely lunch with friends again, always lovely food, great service, really lovely place
Fantastic Sunday Lunch with great service in a friendly atmosphere
Great food we couldn't fault it! Service was slow and empty plates left for at least 30mins after we had finished. Had to ask for drinks 5 times. And no baby change facility. Hopefully these issues will soon be resolved.
Excellent from start to finish, nice decor great additions with the outside area and cocktail bar, couldn’t ask for more with food and service top quality. Well done!
Warm welcome, good good and friendly competent service.
Lovely surroundings, friendly and attentive (but not intrusive) staff nice food. Would go back again.
