Crazy Bean Vegan Cafe
We cook with fresh locally sourced ingredients every day, we believe that food must be fresh and our chefs are passionate about seasonal, delicious vegetables that are at the center of every dish.
We have recently been through a total refurb and can now enjoy and share a modern, fresh, updated and exciting new dining room. We can’t wait to share the new crazy bean with you all.
Excellent food (I'm not vegan!) service and value; good to see it busy at last!
When a friend had questions about the vegan burger (not usually a fan) the chef not only answered them but offered a little sample to try and convert her! We thought this was a very generous gesture, and if anyone has carnivore friends or just likes a good burger I think they'd be very impressed with the authentic taste and texture.
The menu had options for gluten-free, brunch or main meals. The salads with the food were delicious and the whole meal was satisfying and great value.
The raw cakes were excellent.
So glad we found this place! The cauliflower wings were amazing!! Great range of vegan options and all such good value. We will be returning :)
I use to love this place but was really disappointed with our visit. The menu use to be exciting food that, as a vegan, you missed out on. Now it felt like it was the usual vegan burger, pasta and roast offer that you can get a most chain pubs these days. The burgers we had were nothing special. I was also really disappointed with the service staff’s allergy knowledge albeit we eventually got the full information. I would say that the cakes are still fantastic.
Very stylish cafe interior ,fairly small but had a nice cosy feel. The food was great especially the burger if your looking for something resembling meat than that’s it! Large variety of raw cakes for dessert too and a decent price point
The food for this pre-Mother's day dinner for our family of four was quite superb: tasty and original dishes beautifully presented. The chef there is so imaginative. None of us are totally vegetarian, let alone vegan, but we were all delighted with our meals. The service was charming, well informed and friendly, but a little haphazard, with long waits and wrong meals presented. But we took those quirks in good humour and they would not in any way stop us from coming again. This place is a real find, it's such a pity that it only opens three and a half days a week.
Great to have a local vegan restaurant. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, food was good but not would be good to have a child friendly menu as well.
We visited when the brighton.vegfest.co.uk was on - which may explain why it was so empty. We had an excellent meal with great service and we all agreed to try it again soon.
The food is always outstanding at The Crazy Bean Vegan Cafe and everyone is so friendly.
Incredible food and atmosphere but portion size could be bigger on certain meals that are priced higher
It was a really nice little restaurant, perfect for catching up with people as it's really chilled. The service was great!
We had the roast dinner.
Portion size was quite small and the seitan didn’t go well with the meal.
Veggies were cooked perfectly but just wasn’t enough to fill us up.
Had my birthday meal at Crazy bean with my sister. It was peaceful and staff were friendly and very helpful. We had a very tasty meal.
The food and the service was brilliant! There was a great selection on the menu and the food was really delicious. The cauliflower wings were one of the best things I think I have ever eaten and I can't recommend them enough. We will definitely be returning and would recommend the Crazy Bean Café to everyone.
Eaten at Crazy Bean several times and they have always impressed. Every time I have visited the quality of the food has far surpassed my expectations.
A valentines fixed menu was superb, and every table had a long stem red rose to take home.
Friendly staff and background music, loud enough to hear but quiet enough to converse.
I’m definitely not a vegan but love this place more than any other restaurant I have visited.
Came for Valentine's night to find a special set menu of six courses. And it really was special! I am not even vegetarian, let alone Vegan and was amazed how delicious each course was. How they can make that old school meals horror of beetroot into a tangy and tasty appetizer, and artichokes into a yummy soup, I fail to understand. And the delights continued throughout the six light and tasty courses.
A revelation! Especially to this lifelong carnivore.
OK it was not cheap at £35 per head, but for a special occasion with six courses, I think that was well justified. We will return on an ordinary evening to see if this extremely high standard is maintained.
We really enjoyed our meal at the Crazy Bean, the food was delicious, the service good and it wasn't too noisy.
Such a wonderful place - superb food, great ambience and a cosy venue. Vegan heaven.
Our Third Visit and it was great and very tasty vegan food, would strongly recommend.
Great food, very glad I found it. Nice alternative.
A fantastic little place to eat. Excellent food, service was great and really loved the design and atmosphere of the place.
Wonderfully tasty food, excellent friendly service, and very good value for money
Good experience but food wasn't as delicious as some similar-style vegan restaurants I've been to. For example, the cauliflower "wings" were amazing but the accompaniments of salad (just looked like bagged leaves) and lime coleslaw (didn't taste even vaguely lime-y) were a bit lack lustre. Fantastic value and ambience though!
Friendly, good food, good value and welcomes dogs. What more could you want?
Just fantastic food! Great staff! Creative food options. 10out of 10!
I love this place! Third time eating here and I am never disappointed. The cauli wings are the best and the cheeseburger was absolutely gorgeous. All vegan, of course! So happy this place exists. The staff could smile and be a bit more upbeat, but that’s the only thing that is less than perfect.
Great food, I had the coliflour wings with sweet spicy sauce. The batter was lovely and the sauce was lovely, nice and spicy. Homemade coleslaw was yummy as were the homemade chunky chips. Service was good. Only negative feedback was they started cleaning the kitchen floor before we had left, the smell was really strong, quite horrid. We had finished our food, so it could have been worse. :)
First visit here for my son's birthday, didn't disappoint, even satisfied the meat eaters amongst us. Chef explained some dishes on the menu, delicious food, welcoming staff & good atmosphere!!
An excellent meal, selected from a great menu. The dessert was fantastic. Will definitely be back
Wonderful tasty food, good selection. Not as much selection as before but all the food is well presented and delicious . Surpassed my meat eating friends expectations.
A great evening! Even the member of our party who was convinced he wouldn't like it, keeps talking about how much he enjoyed it. We'll be back soon.
Lovely cafe with fab vegan food. You don't have to be vegan to appreciate the menu here. Great value
Absolute find and well worth a bit of a trek for my daughter to be able to choose anything off the menu. I had the mushroom pasta which was absolutely delicious - one of the best ever. Carnivores wont notice anything lacking with the great choice, taste and price. Friendly efficient service and we’ll definitely be back.
This has the potential to be a really great place. The food is really tasty (what was available) but the venue is so small and the tables packed so close together that our friend had to sit sideways on to the table so the waitress could walk back and forth. There was only 1 waitress for 16 people so she was rushed off her feet and service was slow as she had to do all the washing up as well. The waitress was really friendly and none of this reflects on the service she gave us, in the circumstances she had been put in she did really well and kept smiling. Not all of the food was available which was dissapointing especially as it was Friday night and all the tables had been reserved so they knew how many people they were expecting. Alcoholic beverage options are seriously limited. It does say it’s licenced but it was a couple of beer and wine choices and the only spirits were rum or whiskey. The menu is only on a board on the wall it would be good to print some menus off to put on the tables so you don’t have to leave the table in order to read the menu. Overall I think this is a better option for lunch not for an evening meal out with friends.
Unexpected delight! I’m not vegan and was a little dubious ahead of our visit but my friends and I had a lovely evening meal last Friday. Wonderfully fresh food, plentiful and great value. I’ll definitely be back!
Never knew it was there!! Had an amazing burger, my non vegan husband said best burger he'd ever had. Lovely chips, great cake. We will definately be back.
Just loved everything about this little restaurant
The special of the day: wild mushroom and truffle arancini was absolutely delicious. We all had the creamy carbonara for our mains and it was definitely a crowd-pleaser. I've been to Crazy Bean a few times, the food is always incredible and such great value! So lucky to have this place in my village. As a non-vegan I would urge more non-vegans to try out the food, it is amazing!!!! I cannot recommend enough. PS the cakes are also incredible!!!!
Being vegan, it is always great to find a vegan restaurant/cafe that has great choice and fits within my remit. This is a small cafe with a varied choice of vegan food. If you are not vegan, do not be put off. The food is delicious and the ambience is friendly and relaxed. The only thing that was a little odd, was the lack of menus. They had a chalkboard with all the choices on that they would bring to your table. I am sure there would be a reason for this, I just wasn't sure what it was.
My sponge cake was to die for and the bbq wrap delicious.
This cafe was good before...but is even better now. The cooking was superb, really flavourful.
We shared the amazing tofu wrap and some slaw skins as a starter between four - but next visit I think no-one wants to share. Its food to get selfish about!
The Cauliflower Wings and the Nachos as Mains were very good indeed. Not so sure about the linguine or the garlic bread but there's so much more choice to praise.
Shame that there was no chance of cookie dough and ice cream on a weeknight though. That's the third time I made that mistake! However the vegan cakes are always a joy.
Its nice not to have to ask "is it vegan" about anything!
Will be back soon.
