Four out of 5 dinners were well received and liked; I was a bit disappointed in my lamb burger as it was over-soaked in sauces and too spicy for my tastes. Iced teas had plenty of tea but not much ice, so that could have been improved easily. (The ice was pretty much gone/melted within about 2 minutes of arriving at the table).
Cove Hollow Tavern food was great as was the service. The only critic would be to improve the ambience lighting, it was a little bright for dinning atmosphere. All that said, we will be back.
Not sure I make a recommendation to a friend, food is expensive and I thought my lamb burger was not great. It was ice cold when served to me.
Nice and quiet on Friday in November. Food was great as always.
Enjoyed the meal. Thanks!
Friendly environment for a relaxing dinner
We had the perfect table for hearing - tucked in a corner - quiet, and the bar tender made the evening with help with the wine and menu suggestions. All delicious. Will definitely go again.
A casual restaurant and bar with excellent comfort.
Food was AMAZING! Everything we ate was perfect. Service was outstanding and attentive. Very knowledgeable about everything on the menu
Firecracker shrimp is by far the best appetizer in the Hamptons. The restaurant would be mobbed if the chef added similar style cuisine to the entree menu because that is the chefs crown jewel.
Extremely disappointing. Cove hollow should never join the restaurant week The food was so bad. I never eat McDonald’s but it would have been better. I am a business local resident and love supporting local restaurants but this was sadly just bad
We enjoyed our dinner just like every other time we have been to Cove Hollow. Always consistent, great flavors, the portion size is just right, good wine by the glass options, and the service is always friendly and professional. I specially appreciate that every time I’ve gone, the server really knows the menu and gives great recommendations not based on price but on food knowledge.
Over a nice place but more pricey then expected. Food was very good and service was timely. Would go back.
The food was just okay, especially considering the price. Charge me $55 for a steak, at least give me homemade French fries. My friends sea bass was meh, served with some bland greens. Baratta was a good starter but the tomatoes were not ripe. It got increasingly very loud, happy to leave since we could barely hear each other.
Great experience from beginning to end!
Ambience, service and the food was incredibly good-
We will be back.
The Friday Lobster cioppino is outstanding as are their lamb burgers and firecracker shrimps
These are a few of our favorite things
Had another great meal at Cove Hollow following an early movie at nearby Guild Hall. Food is great and I love the Pork Cracklins. My only gripe (and it's a small one) it that it's a little noisy--they should put some carpeting on the floor/walls. But don't let that stop you from going.
Excellent meal. Lovely and efficient service. When our burger was over cooked they could not have been more accommodating in getting a new one out to us. All the other entrees were superb. Wonderful Hamptons small restaurant.
Food is great
We've passed by it a few times over the last few years, but were very unimpressed by the exterior. When we were deciding where to dine on Saturday night we noticed that the Cove Hollow Tavern had the best Open Table rating of all the restaurants in the area, so we decided to give it a try.
We pulled up to the building, and while nothing was "wrong" with the exterior, it was completely unimpressive, and looks really small, like you could fit 4 tables inside. There were some fancy cars in the parking lot though, so we figured that SOMEBODY has to like them.
We went inside, and were pleasantly surprised that there are probably about 15 tables, plus seating for about 8 at the bar. The menu was awesome... very much tavern fare, but absolutely elevated. We found that they had a prix fix for $32 - appetizer, main and dessert, so we ordered 2 of those, and also got a side of wings. At the end of the night I joked that we spent $78 on food (the wings were $14) and were taking home $50 worth of food because the portions were generous and the food quality was exceptional.
The brisket sausage appetizer is amazing, as are the pork cracklins. The wings were cooked to perfection and delicious. I had the shrimp gumbo, the second half of which was my lunch the next day. The food was all excellent, and our server was that perfect balance of friendly and attentive without being intrusive or annoying.
I'm so sad that we missed 3 years of trying this restaurant based on the curb appeal, but we'll be back as often as we can now that we know the secret gem that's inside those walls!
Great hidden gem!
The restaurant always delivers!
I’ve been here a few times and I have never been disappointed. Food is always very good and service as well.
I like the tavern ambience.
Great addition to the Hamptons.
great food service and clientele
Outstanding food and menu selection for the same folks who own Vine Street Cafe. This cozy, local spot in the Georgica section of East Hampton Village never disappoints.
Charming venue. Lovely server. Food good. Ribs flavorful but somewhat dry. Corn succotash delicious. I enjoyed. Would go back to sit at the bar and try the burger.
Service was embarrassing. VERY disappointing.
We brought guests and had to apologize a dozen times.
Next table came 15-20 mins after us and was being served before our drink order was taken — even after we requested attention from the waiter. 3 of 4 drinks took 15+ minutes and the last another 7 minutes. Crazy!
Restaurant was not full and bar was empty.
Food and service were both excellent!
Creative menu with some Southern twists. Very good.
We were very pleasantly surprised, pleased with all aspects of the dining experience. Food, service, ambiance, and value all excellent. It's a small place, and thus noisy, but no flaws during our dinner there. firecracker shrimp appetizer was excellent, the salmon entry got high marks from my wife and my back back ribs were also quite good, though not exceptional. A nice range of dishes, from lowbrow to sophisticated, were offered and all prepared well. So we will definitely come again.
Our favorite restaurant in East Hampton. Best food, best service, beautiful restaurant. Not to be missed!
Very nice, server was vary attentive at first, but after a few tables came in we waited and waited for our entrees to be cleared, and for them to offer a dessert menu. Other then that everything was great!
Nice attentive service, good black bass entree and nice small restaurant.
We had a delicious dinner with friends at Cove Hollow Tavern. We shared shishito peppers and two salads for starters. For main courses, three of us ordered Seafood Gumbo, which was outstanding. One person ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and raved about it and the fifth person had halibut that she adored. For dessert, we shared a large profiterole, which was delicious.
Good food, good service, fun place.
Great food and service
A delightful cozy ambiance with delicious food. Better to go early as it's small and can get noisy.
Second time here. Will be my last. Still not impressed. The shrimp scallion burger had little taste. My husband ‘s veal schnitzel was just okay. There are better places to spend my money
First time since changeover from Max’s. Very disappointed. Kids all over, not much atmosphere. Like eating in a cafeteria. The apps were good, the entree, a bbbQ platter, was awful. Dry, borderline inedible.
Great drinks at the bar! Dinner was delicious. Great menu - so many choices.
I really liked this restaurant because it’s easy, comfortable and casual with good food and terrific drinks and excellent service. I like it early so have never been there much later. Every waiter and bartender has been terrific. The bar is super and I’d love to just come back for cocktails and apps sometime because the bar is so extensive and the mixologist is wonderful. Try the old fashioned! Excellent.
