A quiet setting with well-spaced tables, attentive service, and excellent food.
We arrived about 45 minutes early on Valentine's Day and sat at an empty bar with a marvelous bartender who made delicious cocktails and great conversation.
The food was delicious. But the service knocked it out of the park. We never were rushed, but also never waited for a thing. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. We definitely will return.
The fixed price Valentines Day dinner was outstanding! We chose the Maine lobster carpaccio and tartare appetizer - an ample and perfectly prepared celebration of lobster! My entree was pepper crusted tuna on coconut rice - juicy and flavorful. My wife had the Wagyu beef with rhubarb and was in heaven! We are both gluten free and so chose the gelato dessert of vanilla and chocolate bourbon flavors- delicious. Service was exceptional. This was our 4th special occasion at Corduroy. They know how to please and we will be back.

Management knew they had messed up, because they came over multiple times to apologize, and sent out complimentary soup. We ordered a second bottle of wine to pass the time between first and second courses. It seems the better option would've been for the restaurant to comp a bottle instead of offering a few spoonfuls of soup.
The restaurant was NOT busy at all. It was early in the evening and there were many empty tables. We checked the rest of the restaurant before leaving and it was not busy elsewhere.
The restaurant was also VERY cold.
Corduroy is a very good restaurant serving well prepared classic dishes. I would say the emphasis is on the quality of the preparation & ingredients, rather than a sense of culinary adventure. My wife and I had the same dishes: a sea bass bisque, duck confit for our main, and an apple tart we shared for dessert. The wine was a fantastic 2010 Chehalem Ridgecrest that was at its peak. Service was excellent, and it's a quiet, hushed room, even with quite a few people in it. I'd be happy to go again.

Just right for a gracious evening. Excellent food-the duck, snapper soup, Tarte Tatin were all outstanding. Knowledgeable waiter who recommended an excellent wine, choosing the least expensive of the three we proposed. Atmosphere is understated and contemporary, tables oriented nicely for privacy. As good as we remembered. Highly recommend.

What a delightful dinner at this new find for our travels to DC. Service was excellent and my husband and I raved about our dishes. My red snapper bisque was so good (though as word to people like my husband who have shellfish allergies: the broth includes broth from shellfish) and he really loved the tuna tartare. The special scallops for me were divine and he loved his black bass. Don’t let the dumpster our front fool you or make you miss the entrance (locals who kindly saw our bewildered looks asked if we were trying to find Corduroy (!) and directed us to the flickering gas lamp at the top of the outside porch steps). The inside is immaculate.
Except for parking (no valet, must find a space on the street), this restaurant is very attentive to detail, both with respect to the food and the drinks. We were pleased to see four Turley wines (our favorite) on the wine list. Both the appetizers and main courses were quite original and flavorful.
Service was particularly slow. They didn’t have their act together. Otherwise everything else was fine.
We’ve been to Corduroy twice before and we found the food this time around just okay. Surprising lack of vegetables in their dishes. The restaurant also seemed a bit dingy (dirt on the stairs, menus tattered). Nice servers.

Since we don’t live in Washington,D.C., we relied on Open Table for dinner reservations. I can’t express how delighted we were with this restaurant. It is a bit pricey, but well worth it. The food and service were some of the best I have ever had.
Our server was outstanding. Food was great. Pace was perfect. Very soothing which was just what we needed as we’d just suffered a sad loss.
This is a place that I return to on a regular basis. The food is excellent with menu options that make it hard to choose from since you are tempted to order everything on it. And that goes for all the courses. So, that is why I return - to have what I had to pass up. Be aware that this restaurant is in an historic building so it is not handicapped accessible with steep stairs at the street entrance, restrooms upstairs, overflow dining area and bar also upstairs, so if necessary, when making the compulsory reservation request to be seated on the floor where you will be comfortable. Otherwise, expect to have a meal of memory that will make you want to plan your next visit even before you finish the current one.
Main course took over an hour
Our party of six dined at Corduroy on an extremely slow night so there was no issue whatsoever with service. The charcoal grilled quail appetizer was delicious: perfectly grilled and beautifully presented. The beef cheeks served with white beans were melt-in-your mouth good and were a perfect entree for a cold winter evening. We all enjoyed two beautiful cheese plates and a couple of us ordered desserts and after-dinner drinks. All was very good. However, there was. . .
ONE MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT: When the maitre 'd presented the check to my companion, he failed to mention to her that there was ALREADY a 20% gratuity added to the total. Because the venue is appropriately lit for dinner (i.e. pretty low lighting), this line of the check went unnoticed by my dining partner and she added what would have been a VERY GENEROUS tip in addition to the 20% already on the bill. The effect was to provide a 47% gratuity. So, there's that.
First time at Corduroy and had an excellent experience. We had a large party to celebrate some birthdays and they accommodated us with flexible menu, food was amazing, service was excellent, staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and entertaining, desserts were delicious, atmosphere perfect. Just wished there were parking garages in the area, instead only street parking and though the gps led us exactly to the location, the restaurant sign was so small we passed it twice without realizing. But once we got there everything exceeded our expectations.
One of the best meals we have enjoyed! Each course was amazing and we all wanted to share the deliciousness with each other!
Birthday dinner. We were interested in something on website menu. The item was not on the evenings menu, but they were gracious enough to make it anyway, for both of us And the red wine went perfectly.
Shockingly good. Been passing the window for some time and decided to dine “at risk” for my wife’s birthday. Glad we did, everything was wonderful and we’ll be back soon!
Superb service from a knowledgeable server. His enthusiasm for the food and recommendations for wine pairing helped make the evening quite enjoyable. The food was excellent. Pricey but worth it.
An outstanding dinning experience. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and eating at Corduroy was a great choice (it was our first time there). We both had the Chef's Surprise Tasting menu and all courses were delicious. The service was equally outstanding. We will most certainly go back.
