I like the restaurant, but the parking situation leaves a lot to be desired.
The service was outstanding, and the food delicious. Recipes were innovative without being strange. This is first of all a winery, with food, but the restaurant is excellent. 4-glass wine flights are available for those who want to try variety. We had a pleasant table seated by the window, which was nice, but experienced glare when the street lights came on. However, the wait staff then lowered blinds far enough to renew the pleasant indoor ambience. This is our third dinner at the Reston Cooper's Hawk, and we continue to be impressed. Prices were slightly under what is normal for this level of restaurant, another benefit. They also promote a monthly wine club and members gain points which can be redeemed at the restaurant.
Food was less enjoyable than previous visits. Barramundi was lacking flavor. Dana’s chicken was cooked too long—very brown on one side and not moist. Disappointing experience as we have had good visits in the past.
The spaghetti sauce was amazing! But the noise was a touch high.
We enjoy the restaurant most of the time and love the food and wine list. Sadly they ran out of the special scallops we wanted and then also were out of key lime pie. Maybe Sunday 7 pm isn’t the best option. They kindly gave us 2 coupons for future desserts but our friends were a bit disappointed during our going away dinner.
Food was not good. Service was terrible. Reston just does not do as good of a job as the Ashburn location.
It was a great place to celebrate a good friends birthday!!! They were also very accommodating to different food allergies our group had. Will definitely go again!
Wow. What a gem! Great food, good wine, and reasonable prices. No wonder it is so hard to get reservations...
Went to have a nice dinner with a coworker where we didn’t talk about work. Our server (sadly forget his name) was excellent. Very knowledgeable about the drinks and food. Funny, nice and efficient. Available to us without hovering
We had good service and excellent food. Unfortunately it was very loud and hard to hear our waiter and difficult to have a conversation. Perhaps not good during peak hours and better in the off hours.
Spacious sitting. Great service throughout (Carlos). Good value for meals and wines.
Great food. Wine selections are good.
Not a place to have quiet conversations— very, very noisy.
Service very good — waiters are attentive and prompt with requests.
The lunch food was enjoyable, but service was slow. Our waiter seemed to be elsewhere when we sought service. A large group was then seated right next to our table so conversation became difficult as their noise level increased. Since the reservation was for 1:15, I hadn't expected these variables after noontime. Even with no dessert, service took longer than was comfortable-- and the house lights were dimmed at 3:15, noticed on a dark rainy day!
Food was good and consistent as always and the service was superb. CH is a go to restaurant for me and they do not disappoint!
They have a great and extensive menu. Also includes a lite under 600 calorie menu. If your a wine connoisseur this is your place.
Great new place that I'll return too. Good service and great value- portions are great.
First time my wife and I visited Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant, and we both were very impressed. We order a flight for each of us, and I must say the wine was exceptional (Lux). The food was great, a good selection for even the picky eaters in your family. The service was exceptional. This will be our new favorite restaurant, a great place for almost any occasion.
We even join the wine club, we like the wine so much.
Mother’s Day. Excellent meal, gave flower to mom and free wine tasting.
Service ruined the whole evening for us. We were put at a table which had no silverware. We requested same when the waitress first came to the table. We ordered drinks and an appetizer and main course. After 20 minutes, we received the appetizer but were still lacking silverware and water which we had also requested. 5 minutes later the silverware came out. A little later the water was put at our table.
After an hour and a half, still not receiving our main course, we decided that was enough and asked for the bill to date so we could leave. The manager asked us to wait and he would give us a ToGo bag with his compliments. He said the order was lost. After what seemed like 15 minutes but was really only 5, he came out with the bag. One entre' looked like it had been sitting for half an hour and the other looked freshly made. We left.
What food we ate (appetizer and Pretzel Bread) was good; the wine was fair. Unfortunately, we have a gift card which we are in no hurry to cash in at this point.
Our seating was not a good location(next to kitchen) given it was our anniversary. I requested a quiet location.
The food was great, although there was a great deal of confusion regarding my order. I was brought the wrong entree, even after the manager came out to confirm my order before it was brought out. By the time my food came everyone else at our table had already finished eating. I was offered a soup (on a 90 degree day), which I declined, but was never offered anything else (glass of wine? dessert?) and still paid full price for my meal. We were there for almost 3 hours, were never asked if we wanted another drink, and had to ask for refills of water. I know it was a busy weekend, but I was surprised for the price paid how lackluster the service was. I've been to the Ashburn location, where we had a great experience. The food was great, but the overall experience leaves something to be desired.
My Birthday 😊
Always a great dining experience at Cooper’s Hawk and this time was no exception. Lavergne was an outstanding server. She was friendly, courteous and efficient. She helped make the outing even more enjoyable. Will definitely ask for her again! Highly recommend going to this restaurant for truly exceptional food, wine and overall service.
Cooper’s Hawk never fails to impress us! My wife and are are frequent diners and belong to the very reasonable wine club with excellent wines. The atmosphere is upscale chique and the staff there couldn’t be nicer. Food and drink are all excellent! You won’t go wrong spending some time there. Just beware, the winery and restaurant have become very popular so it’s harder to get reservations during popular dinner times, unless you book way in advance! But we’ll worth it if you go!
Outdoor seating was very nice; food was good and service was excellent
Good food. Big menu. Healthy choices. Great wine tasting room at front of restaurant which is a nice treat.
Service was a little slow and my salad was just ok.
That said, I would go back!
Great wine, food and service.
Waited 30 min after being seated and was only provided with a wine sample and glass of water. Saw server a couple of times but she never stoped to ask how the wine was, if I wanted a glass or to take my order. After 30 min I went to find a manager. The manager was very nice and understanding. I was provided another server, he was ok. The Dana’s chicken I ordered came out burnt on one side, if I could insert a picture I would as it was BLACK on one side so very noticeable. Another manager who was also very nice apologized for seating me outside (when I arrived they asked if I wanted to be inside or out, I replied with whatever is easiest and best for you trying to be helpful), referencing a lack of service outside and offered me a complimentary glass of wine. Part way through the burnt chicken meal I saw another gentleman walk but saying “thanks but no thanks, I will go somewhere else.” Well the bill showed up and guess what, no complimentary glass of wine, a short discussion later, another long wait just to get my credit card and bill back only to get handed a pen that leaked ink all over me. I asked the server for another pen as it didn’t work and referenced the ink mess, “oh that’s where that ink all over my hands came from was the reply”, here is another pen. THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER at Coopers Hawk. Have been a wine club member for a long time and this experience makes me question why. The two managers were nice but the service, food, and total experience was less than one star. The whole experience took 2 hours for one meal, wait wait wait for everything and it wasn’t even that busy 1/2 way through my meal.
When we arrived they asked us if this was a special occasion and we said yes, it was our 36 wedding anniversary. I am not sure why they asked because nothing was done for it! Usually a complementary dessert would have been served. Not that we were looking for it, just curious why they asked! Food was very good. Restaurant was noisy so would not consider it a romantic place. Service was slow. We were not in a rush but had to ask twice for wine we ordered which is interesting since it is a wine restaurant! We were asked at least 3 to 4 times if we wanted to join the wine club. Did not b/c we do not live close to the restaurant so would not benefit us. Overall will give it another try b/c of the delicious food.
It was great!
For a birthday dinner on a Sunday evening, the overall atmosphere and wait staff at the Reston location left much to be desired. The evening started on a high note - the menu is well written and offers clear suggestions of what wine to try with whatever you're eating, but things went down hill from there. The noise level made conversation across our table for 2 difficult, at least 3 of the large lamps suspended from the ceiling should be taken apart and cleaned out, and the floor on the way back to the tables was slippery. A couple of the group tables on the wall near the kitchen must have had guests that the wait staff (or kitchen staff) knew well, because periodically someone would sit down, chat, and then return to their duties. When clearing a table on our aisle, our waiter dropped the butter container and butter splattered in several clearly visible spots. He made no effort to clean this up, and the other waiters in our section were oblivious and walked right through the spills; after about 15 minutes, someone finally brought this to the attention of the hostess standing at the end of the aisle with her iPad, and she swiped a napkin through the spills with her foot. (It's also a bit off-putting to see at least 2 waiters through the kitchen window wiping down their faces before they bring out food!)
It's true that this isn't a "white tablecloth" establishment, but given that a dinner check could easily reach $40-$50 per person (before wine or cocktails), it's unfortunate that front-of-the-house managers don't seem to have a better handle on training the wait staff to be more attentive to their surroundings (something The Woodmont Grill in Bethesda, which has similar prices, has perfected in their staff). We're going to try the Ashburn location in hopes of a better a better experience, because the food was really good! Fingers crossed.....
Every meal I have had here has been outstanding. The food is fantastic as is the wine. The service is outstanding.
Great lunch but slow service
Great wine, food and excellent service!!
Food and service was outstanding. Our server Robin, was wonderful.
very good restaurant and we had a blast. I had the RISOTTO which was very good but my friend had the SHRIMP & POLENTA which was drowning in oil.
Food was excellent. Service was exceptional - the waitress was very helpful and informative on the menu items and wine list. It wasn't terribly noisy so conversation was easy. Definitely recommend.
We took a team from work to the restaurant for lunch on a Wednesday. It was nearly an hour before our food showed up and though the waiter was attentive (drink refills, etc) there was no explanation as to the delay, no manager came by to speak with us nor did we get any consideration for our situation. We will likely not be bringing any other groups here in the future. Too bad.
