Once the home of Dame Nellie Melba, Coombe - The Melba Estate is a property with an unrivalled provenance. Seven acres of stunning gardens and beautifully appointed facilities in the restored motor house and clock tower offer a truly unique gourmet and cultural experience.

Located within the restored motor house and historic clock tower and under the helm of Chef Neil Cunningham, our restaurant serves Contemporary Modern Australian a la carte menu options.

An inspiring selection of seasonal and estate grown produce is on offer for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea 6 days a week.

The restaurant is modern, spacious yet intimate and overlooks the landscaped market-style courtyard of the beautifully restored facilities. The view from the conservatory is of the Coombe cottage garden ‘avenue’ and gives glimpses of the oldest swimming pool in Victoria.

    Entrees and shared lamb for 4 for a birthday lunch. Dined here 2 last 2 years ago and quality and experience just as lovely as then. Lamb was on point. Shout out to Emma our waitress who was friendly and attentive. Will be back next time I'm down from Sydney. Thank you!

    From the start, the whole experience was a pleasure, the gentleman in the wine tasting was very helpful and made us feel welcome,even though we don't know anything about wine. The young lady who served us was also very polite and knowledgeable, which made the day memorable. We will be back. Thanks again Coombe. John and Denise.

    excellent meal, excellent service, lovely setting, excellent and professional communication-great job, Gemma. REALLY appreciated the willingness and ability to adjust my meal for fructose intolerance without losing too much in the flavor and quality of the meal. some more mainstream cocktail and beer choices might be considered, but overall, a fabulous experience.

    I love this place. Continues to maintain an exceptional standard. The ambience, food, service all perfection. Frederick is an exceptional floor manager, his flare, attention to detail, personality just a highlight. Food is excellent. Presentation, temperature, timing all spot on.     The only downside was that one of the diners at our table was vegetarian and I thought the menu options for him were a little limited. That aside we all enjoyed the day and we'll be back to visit and dine again very soon.

    Fine dining at its best, the lamb shoulder for 2 was outstanding and a sides of potatoes too much. Very expensive but the food is to die for. I’d recommend it when you wish impress someone.

    The menu choice made decisions hard there were 3 different starters and mains ordered between the 4 of us and it did not dissappoint. The wine selection resulted in a purchase on our way out. We all thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the lunch

    I came here for lunch with my mum, sister in law and best friend to try the food and wine before doing a wedding tour. Every moment of my visit was extraordinary, from the moment I parked and walked into the reception, to the time I left, I couldn’t have asked for a nicer day! The service in the restaurant was incredible, and Angela who took us through the gardens was amazing! She explained everything thoroughly, responded to questions and offered really helpful information. The food was really nice, the wine was stunning, and the atmosphere was unmatched. I will be aiming to have my wedding here in 2025, and a large part of that decision is based on the beautiful first impression I got from Coombe.

    We did the house tour. The house was quite beautiful but quite run down. The tour guide didn't seem to know a lot of history of the house or what certain objects were which was disappointing. Overall it was a very expensive tour for what it was. Also there was a glass of champagne that came with the tour but which we weren't offered and had to ask for. Wouldn't recommend.

    Absoloutly delightful! Delicious food in a beautiful setting. Wonderful warm, friendly service. And fantastic wines! Dish standouts were the Aspargus with Pistachio Pesto, and the Trout Crudo. Dessert was excellent too, Peach Melba Tart. Highly reccomend, a wonderful experience :)

    Sparkling wine wasn't really cold. Coffee not hot Service, waitress was good. Bit disappointed with the food as I have experienced other High Teas at other places and so not good value for money. I was thinking of doing this for my 80th birthday but sorry not the best.

Our sparkling wine is stored in the fridge and on ice, and our coffee is heated to the standard recommended by our suppliers though we are always happy to make changes for our guests' tastes.     Entrees (asparagus, and potato terrine), mains (artichokes, and barramundi), dessert (peach Melba) and Peach Melba Bellini cocktail were wonderful. Ambience and views delightful. Service friendly. Cheese platter was a bit of a let down (cheese textures, perfect rectangular-shaped lavosh, and slivers of apple on a china plate felt too clinical, as opposed to my preference of more rustic cheese boards). cocktail didn’t arrive early enough to be consumed before the entree arrived, which I wanted to enjoy with matching wine. Was great to try wines in the cellar door prior to lunch, so we could choose food to match the wines we wanted to drink. Overall feeling is that the owners and staff are welcoming, proud and generous in their sharing of Coombe, a place that is loved.

    We enjoyed a very delicious high tea. Presented beautifully, the waitress explained all the different foods, we were asked if there were any allergies. As we began to taste the temptation before us our taste buds received a real treat! We also watched some of the main meals being brought out to other patrons - OMG!!! We now want to come back for a a full meal - everything we saw looked amazing and so yummy.

    We are so fortunate to live within 30 minutes. If you are travelling from the other side of town still worth the trip. The dining experience and service was 10 out of 10. Even the Melbourne weather was perfect
