Continental Deli CBD
Founded by Elvis Abrahanowicz and Joe Valore of Porteño, and Jesse Warkentin and Michael Nicolian (of Bodega and Gardel’s Bar).
Continental is the realised passion for a neighbourhood deli. Bring your basket to purchase your specialty deli essentials, be it charcuterie for your next days sandwich, fromage for a friend, or all the elements for a perfect picnic. We have sourced what we consider the most interesting, rare and delicious cheeses and charcuterie as well as an impressive range of tinned delicacies; anchovies from the Bay of Biscay, clams and cockles from Galicia, sardines from France. We are however most proud of the items we have canned ourselves from incredible local produce.
You can expect to see many of our most popular dishes, our in house tinned seafood, our famous tinned cocktails as well many new dishes to try.
Great food, wonderful staff and engaging surrounds.
Good is fabulous, as is the menu and staff. Cant hear each other talk but still worth five stars
Love this place. An underrated hidden gem in the CBD. Easily one of the best Mediterranean restaurants in Sydney.
The service was very average - felt like I was being rushed out of my 8pm booking and no drinks were offered when we had finished ours
Very enjoyable experience, staff were lovely and attentive. Great ingredients, good for couples, small groups and good for sharing.
Great service, cocktails and bloody tasty food. And pouring the tinned cocktails at the table is just so damn fun.
: ) x
Had a birthday dinner here with my friends, food was pretty yummy, loved their pasta dishes! The desserts were great as well! Service was very nice as well - but only down side is they are strict about time limits, so when it’s time for the next round, they’ll get you to leave.
Second time and food is excellent: uncomplicated, great flavours, well
executed and wine friendly.
Particularly impressed with the service. The team went all out to make us feel comfortable as it was the first time we’d taken our four month old to a restaurant. Was a little apprehensive because it was lunch in the law district, but no issues at all.
Highly recommended.
Amazing venue, great service and good atmosphere.
Took my partner here for our anniversary dinner. We had eaten at the Glebe location with friends and had loved it, so I thought let’s give the CBD location a try. Amazing food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere.
Food and service were wonderful. We had the banquet and it was delicious. The cocktails and wine perfect accompanying. The servers were lovely and attentive.
Generous servings, great service, COVID-safe distancing. Also, an airy space thanks to the full width open front window. If you’re by the window, you’re elevated enough from the street so you can look out over Phillip St and the bustle around the Supreme Court, without being seen from the street. It’s not really a people watching cafe though; there is a nice atmosphere of it’s own inside the place, with great lighting, but still privacy from the bar to the table area, and a fantastic deli counter. Sound absorbing panels are on the ceiling, which helps conversation flow.
Did I mention the deli counter? Amazing. Great olives too. Haven’t had a disappointment yet with any plates. But you don’t just eat in, you can shop for home here too. Also, no failings from the drinks section - they can their own specialty drinks which are all worthy of an Andy Warhol painting. There’s wine and beer, and as I mentioned, also a full bar. Don’t know if you can take the cans or other beverages home...
All up, I love it. Great addition to this part of town - much needed and well patronised. Recommend booking to avoid a 20 minute wait.
Great place for a business lunch. Portions may be small.
My first visit and was really happy with everything. Going to check out Newtown next
I think they raised the price on the XO charcuterie bucatini but otherwise... excellent.
Mar-tinny +steak tartare = happy customer. Just wish they had petit fours to go with coffee.
Continental deli is a comforting dining experience. Down to earth food, filled with flavour whilst still embodying simplicity. If you’re looking for the ultimate dining experience, excellent service and to impress your friends - continental deli is the place to go.
As always, an amazing meal at Continental! My friends and I enjoyed the relaxed but intimate ambience, the fantastic cocktails and most of all the incredible food- compliments to the chef!! Highly recommend the meat and cheese board as well as the ragu; simply sensational.
Busy at lunch time with corporates but tables well spaced for Covid.
Amazing food, drinks and hospitality. Would highly recommend
Food, atmosphere, service are all on point always!!
The food was amazing but it was a bit pricey.....
Gorgeous venue. Loved every second of our time there! Amazing service and great food.
Excellent service & great food as we have come to expect from both the CBD and Newtown restaurants.
Not all restaurants are being really responsible with the Covid restrictions but these guys made sure tables were well spaced and that everyone used sanitiser and checked in for tracing purposes. Well done.
Excellent experience in the city
Great choice of small or larger meals that can be individual or shared.
Amazing food.Helpful and friendly wait staff. Went back two weeks in a row.
Love the food and the airy beautiful space. Will be back.
We love coming here. It’s always consistent. We just know it’s going to be an amazing, hearty and tasty meal. Everything is just always spot on including the service.
They don’t have a kids menu but they didn’t even hesitate to make a pasta for my 3.5 year old and he ate every single bit of it.
Whenever we leave, we just can’t wait to return. Thank you
The food is always fantastic. Treat yourself to some heart warming eats, buzzing conversation and a sneaky can-hattan.
great food, great service, great value. love this place
Amazing lunch spot. Service was delightful. Very personable and they knew their food and wine. Loved the atmosphere - reminded me of the standard in NYC.
Great food, nice menu and great for a lunch in the CBD.
This is my new favourite lunch place in the city. Fun menu, something ffor everyone, great staff, a mar-tinny, a tempranillo, and a nice steak tartare is a winning way to spend an hour or so with a mate.
Hard to go past the French Dip, my favourite sandwich in Sydney.
The service was amazing and the space lovely and comfortable but the let down was the food. Too much style over substance.
Steak tartare - the meat component of this dish was dry and lacked flavour. Meatballs looked and tasted like spam. White and smooth and tasteless in the middle. Inedible in my opinion . Cacio e Pepe - nailed the sauce but it was paired with the wrong pasta. You don’t do cacio e Pepe with bucatini. Fact. Rigatini pasta dish tasted like it had curry powder in it. Flan in a cab was inedible. It was the most horrible texture. Won’t be returning.
Great staff and service, lovely atmosphere, reasonably priced and delicious menu.
10/10 service and food as always, will be back for sure <3
Always an amazing meal every time! The XO salami pasta is the standout dish.
Awesome venue with amazing staff food. Would highly recommend
