My partner and I have went to dinner to celebrate Valentines day it have a nice view to the river and well lit inside. I had allergy to apricots and the waiter explained their policy and got a chef to explain what is in each item of food if it had apricots or not.
Food was delicious, so many options that I couldn't try them all. Staff very friendly and very prompt, very helpful. There should however be a dress code
Absolutely phenomenal! Food was delicious, ambiance was welcoming and the customer service was fantastic. Staff were very accommodating and always on hand when needed. Would highly recommend!
Have now dined at The Conservatory on 3 occasions. Again, it didn’t disappoint.
Vast selection of seafood, Asian stirfry, Indian dishes, roasts, salads, vegetables, pasta, cheese board & dessert island to die for.
Not your everyday Buffet. Well attended by staff, dishes always refreshed/replaced & served at appropriate temperature. Even patrons are polite in plating their meals.
Table staff are exemplary. Nothing is too much trouble. Prompt drinks service, table attended frequently.
Food was very poor considering it cost $145 per person. All the meat was luke warm or cold. Deserts looked fancy but taste very average. Overall not happy and will not be coming back
First ever bad experience the food quality was questionable wen i wanted to complain no one was there to hear it bad service experience i felt my money spent was completely worthless
Celebrating my daughters 21st
It was lovely some of the food was amazing but the rest definitely could have been a lot better. A bigger spread would make more sense also, maybe more middle eastern stuff :)
Restaurant has potential but spoilt by lack of available staff. We were cleaning our own dishes from our table, water jug was never offered to us, and so on.
We were there for a birthday celebration. Last year we were impressed with the special effort made to help with another birthday celebration, this year nothing. And we did mention that we were celebrating a birthday.
We did ask for a window seat this year and were given one, but that is where the 'special occasion' stopped.
Love love love this place! All the food is delicious, can’t go wrong!
Do not go on a weekend! It’s a rip off. During the week it’s $64 for the same food you get on a weekend when you pay $109! During the week you also get a glass of wine whereas you have to pay on the weekend. Unimpressed by this.
Amazing experience. Food was great. The service was not that prompt.
Lovely venue for a special occasion. Very friendly staff, tasty food with a lovely view of the Yarra.
Book in advance and ask for a window seat
Have been attending the Conservatory on and off for over 15 years - the standard never slips.
variety of seafood needs improvement, need a good barista
Disappointing considering a 5 star buffet. Half the Indian food spread was very salty. The Peking duck pastry was thick. A few chefs who came out to replenish food pulled long faces, table service was not reflective of a 5 star establishment. The dessert spread was good and so were the cheeses. I'm sorry but I think Melba is way better.
we had a 60th school anniversary and wanted some where that was convenient for all, nice food, seafood bar, dessert bar with plenty to choice from, the only thing we didn't get our second glass of wine, other than that all was good. Dishes collected as you finished plenty of water and all dishes replaced as they finished including the seafood, roasts, Chinese, Indian so much to eat.
The range of food seemed less for a Monday as compared to thursday or friday and weekends
The furniture and service was great. The food was lovely and kept full at all times. More larger plates would have been nice. I was disappointed that after my last visit you didn’t have the crayfish mornay. Drinks took a while to come to the table. Good value for money.
Recently dined here for high tea. The tiered table platter was well presented. The food and displays in the buffet area were beautifully presented and many items were "a work of art - almost too good to eat". The quality of food was high. One suggestion would be to increase the variety of savory foods - the sweets were lovely but there is only so much sugar one can consume.
The service was very poor on this occasion (2nd Feb 2019). Staff were unattentive, disinterested, bored & slow.
Great vibe. Exceptional staff and service.
Buffet kept fresh, clean and tidy and restocked regularly.
Amazing food selection.
Met and exceeded expectaions
At the price should not have to line up for food. Need a larger food service area.
Drinks should not take 20 min to come out.
We paid $109 per head and there was just no value in it at that cost. There were lines around seafood buffet, prawns ran out and generally the quality of the food wasn't what we expected. In particular, the sweets weren't very nice.
The service was lacklustre and absent. I ordered a sparkling water and they didn't even serve it in a glass with ice they just put the bottle on the table. This is totally acceptable at a cheap eats place but even they serve with lemon and ice.
Dedicated waiters.
Ambience and interiors designs are excellent!
While the food & general decor of the restaurant was beautiful, unfortunately the waitstaff where a let down they seem to forget that this is not a cafeteria and had no problem shouting to one another across the room, not giving way to clients walking to the buffet & literally standing next to mutilple tables for over an hour loudly putting glasses & cutlery away in a service bench. So much so I had to ask my partner to speak up & repeat things to hear over the noise. Avoid for special occasions
We were lucky enough to have a table at the window overlooking the city and the river, great views. Staff were friendly and attentive. Such a fantastic range of food on the buffet.
HE STAFF HAVE IMPROVED IN THEIR SERVICE. FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL. THE BUFFET LUNCH WAS VERY GOOD, BUT I DO THINK THERE COULD BE AT LEAST TWO ROASTS FOR PEOPLE WHO PREFER THE TRADITIONAL ROAST MENU.
Food was fine but nothing special.
Seafood was bad. Crab and pipi tasted like nothing but the sauce.
Other food was alright.
Waiters took dirty cutlery with plates but then didn't return any clean sets until asked to.
Would probably pay $50 on a good day.
The seafood buffet was very disappointing, not a large selection of fish and for the money we paid the food was very average , very over priced. Drinks took quite some time to come out, half an hour before our sitting was going to end , we were reminded by staff many times that we had to be out in half an hour
Tea pot had lipsticks marks (not mine!)
Tea cup had a crack
Waitress did not speak nor understand English and was unable to take our tea order correctly.
At time of booking I paid over the phone. This was not translated to the Conservatory! I had to pay again and now go through the refund process
Standards have declined substantially since our last visit 3 years ago. Food was average (prawns were tasteless), other than excellent oysters. Service was decidedly substandard. And don't plan a leisurely lunch - you will be rushed out at 2.30 on the dot, even if you are just finishing up your cup of tea, as they have to reset the restaurant for high tea. So your final 15 minutes you'll have cleaners buzzing around vacuuming as you rush to finish. All that for $90/head! Not value to me.
Lacking of fresh food for the price, fresh oyster werent fresh enough, not enough food choices. Dessert were good, but would prefer a more balanced meal for the price paid.
Celebrating my husband’s birthday that day, dining at Conservatory. Number of choices of food is just right, we were able to taste each and every dish unlike some other buffet that we’ve tried. And therefore, quality of food is maintained. Staff is very attentive as well. Only feedback is, appreciate if drinks such as soft drinks and sparkling water is given as part of the price package.
The restaurant is beautiful and the views are amazing if you get a seat near the windows. There's a wide variety of food to choose from, and it's delicious! Wait staff were very friendly and service was excellent.
Great food. A lovely restaurant for a first class meal.
Upmarket buffet experience with many quality choices
Magnificent
Beautiful food. Great service and very friendly. Great night had by all including kids.
