Being sprung with an unexpected $70 parking fee.
- NO disabled parking (illegal) offered to valet park (no mention of fee) then sprung with $70 valet parking fee after we dined. Booked (3 months ago) at $90/head, charged $125/head - not legal either.
Service: wine, asked for sweet red.
5m: don't have any, dessert port instead?
5m: don't have any, rose instead?
10m: we ask where is wine.
5m: WHITE wine arrives.
5m: replace with SAME wine, give up!
Prices had increased. I found it a little to expensive and drink prices were ridiculous priced.
We came on the 6/2/21 for dinner And I tried the oysters and they tasted old and there was a weird smell.
The couple that were with us didn’t bother trying them they could smell it that they were old.
I stayed in the hotel in the crown during the night I felt sick I had stomach cramps and kept going to the toilet.
When you go to a place like Conservatory you except high quality food, especially on a Saturday.
Was very not unique. More of a tourist place you go if your not from Melbourne. The food was under seasoned. Takeaway shops tasted better then this. I know I’m a foodie. The service was great but the ambiance was definitely not romantic style. Not COVID safe. Too many people in the restaurant and line’s. Feel like it needed to be more restricted. Definitely not worth the money. Won’t be going back.
Overall nice food and great ambiance, I just don’t think it’s necessarily worth $125 a head in comparison to other cheaper buffets I’ve been to.
my daughter who has nut allergy was well catered for being looked after on a 1:1 ,
Food was delicious
very classy environment. Temperature was fine. Good place to have a special occassion and family friendly. the lunch times were good at 3hours so didn't feel being rushed at all. however i would like to suggest if extra serviettes and hand wipes be made available on tables save us asking the waitress etc if we can have some more bit annoying to us and them. The chairs were nice but very heavy i have problem with my hand so naturally it was inconvenient to get up and out to get food.
Definitely the best Buffet dinner in town. Food quality is great and there is plenty of variety to chose from. Great ambience and location and staff are very attentive and helpful. The attention to Covid safe practices was really well done especially considering a buffet has its challenges.
Fantastic venue, service and food.Have been coming for 15 years and always a great experience
Very enjoyable dining experience.
Great selection of food
All staff the best sevice.
Great selection of quality food and drinks and great service
We didn't get to enjoy the high tea; the service was extremely rushed with just 1.5 hrs allocated. While the food was pretty good, we couldn't really converse as we were rushed to finish with multiple staff constantly reminding we had to leave at 5pm.
The tired plates wouldn't fit on the tables and the staff pushed our plates to a side with no space to actually eat.The reservation staff don't seem to be aware that there was no buffet service. It is 2021, please get on top of split billing!
Had the afternoon tea. The service was amazing and food very nice. Great view as well.
For an upmarket restaurant, there were long queues for food. Try to reduce customers per seating. Food seems and taste like ‘mass produced’. The Peking Duck pastry was very thick and hard. The garlic naans were disappointing. The Roasts were very dry.
The seating was perfect, the different types of food was good, and the macaroons weren’t fresh, they were soggy
Not value for money for Non Alcoholic and Vegetarians
Great place for a special birthday we went for our son's 21st only a small group of 6. Absolutely stunning view from our table overlooking the Yarra River- table 21. Will be back to try the high tea.
Very nice atmosphere, friendly, prompt service. Good quality food, very appetising.
Perfect place for a celebration as the ambience is lovely. You definitely get your money’s worth due to the hightea being a buffet style. Definitely recommend!
In short - Overall experience was a large disappointment as of 03-01-2020 (I cannot recommend Conservatory buffet, try Melba buffet instead)
Later batches of "fresh olsters" had a weird salty after taste.
The sashimi - king fish and tuna was cold and tough to chew.
The tiger prawns - very salty, stringy, chewy meat. Very disappointing.
Majority of the hot foods, ranging from asian to european dishes are OVER SALTED (in caps as the chefs did not taste the food before releasing it)
Loved the decor, ambiance and food.
Needs to be more responsible with the service of alcohol.
When we ordered two glasses of sparkling, our waitress asked if we meant 3 glasses and I had to quickly point out my son was only 15 yrs old!
I can only assume the waitress was embarrassed as she then ignored us for the rest of the night...
We were left to beg for water from other passing waitstaff and would have loved to order wine but that was impossible due to lack of service.
I expected better.
Thank you for an excellent high tea.
The selection of hot savories, ribbon sandwiches and sweets was delectable.
If I may suggest, the scones could have been warmer and the tea definately hotter. It would also have been good to gave the tea served at the same time as the scones. By the time tge tea arrived, the scones were cool.
Otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable elegant experience.
Would definately go again.
I have an exemption for no being a le to wear a mask, the eude staff asked me about 20 times to wear a mask when i told them i coild not. Then they followwd me around and forxwd mw to keep sanitising my hamds after i told then i had already used the hand sanitizer. It was a horrible experience and the doos is prwtty low ans over priced.
Such a lovely place to dine out, it felt really special and quite fancy. The food was delicious and the staff friendly and helpful. Will def book again for a special occasion.
Great food, beautiful venue and setting with gorgeous views of the city and Southbank. Fantastic food, very high end luxury feel. Only slight let down was slow service on drinks being delivered to the table, however, did not affect our new years day. Very happy overall and would recommend for a special occasion.
A disappointing experience. Food and service were ordinary. In my booking I mentioned it was my birthday but this was not acknowledged. At check out I didn't have my Crown rewards with me, but came back 5 minutes later with the card but was told in a rude manner that it was not possible to scan the card anymore. I missed the points and had to pay for the parking. I contacted the rewards service and was told that the restaurant staff could have filled out a form and easily fixed the issue.
Great attentive table service.... food quality was exceptional. Will be back again
One of our waitresses was very rude and dind not listen to my concerns raised.
Covid19 handling was excellant.
Salad bar was very poor prawns were very average.
I did not think ut was worth the money paid.
We booked NYE at the conservatory as the evening was advertised as Al a Carte having changed from Buffet because of Covid - which was great we wanted table service and a little spoiling!
We have had the Buffet before and its ok - but @$285 there is really no value for money!
50 minutes before reservation on NYE you advised "BTW we have gone back to buffet" - to say we were annoyed was an understatement!
All in all very 2020 - a promising start but changes made for a very forgettable result!
Great food and awesome view
Have been having a special night out at the Conservatory every year and for the first time was dissatisfied with quality of food especially seafood. However desert was great, staff terrific. Not sure if we will return as price has increased and quality decreased.
While it was a pleasant evening, the standards weren’t as high as we have had in the past. Food range seemed limited. What was there was very tasty. Wine list overpriced.
Great place to celebrate memorable occasions , excellent food with every choice , love the dessert bar , 3 choc fountains
Slowly coming out of COVID 19 restrictions treated ourselves while having a small stay in accommodation at the Casino in Melbourne. Restaurant was easy to get to and food choice was ample enough for county people like ourselves. The food was well presented, delicious, great variety and plenty of it. The venue was upper class for our normal country lifestyle but we managed the situation very well. Staff were excellent from checking in to leaving with full tummies. Would recommend to friends.
Beautiful restaurant over looking the Yarra river. Feels opulent and many people dress up for the occasion. The food is fresh and delicious, although the range is a little less exhaustive than I was expecting. Service was lovely and very attentive.
Wonderful way to spend Boxing Day! The selection of food and desserts was outstanding. The staff was extremely attentive and we enjoyed the free flowing sparkling option. Definitely would do it again next year.
