Commonwealth Indian
This was our 3rd or 4th time at Commonwealth. The food and service is always excellent, the decor is beautiful (I really love the marble inlay floor design in entrance). Make sure to ask the server about spiciness, many of the dishes are very hot. Even our Korean friends found the level of heat in their curries impressive! They have an array of special cocktails, all wonderful that we tried. Upmarket ambiance, very unobtrusive, competent and welcoming staff.
This is the most beautiful indian restaurant I have ever seen. The staff are super nice and professional, and the food is incredible. What a hidden gem.
Beautiful place, great food and excellent service! Favorite!
Great drinks, food and dining experience! Have been there 2-3 times now and it’s keeps on getting better!
Gorgeous setting for wonderful food with fabulous service! Our new go-to place for Indian food.
Awesome Indian food with great flavor especially for those who love spicy!
Great food, prompt service and responsible COVID dining. This is our daughters favorite restaurant near her apartment. It is an annual pilgrimage for us to celebrate her birthday there. Authentic / excellent Indian food.
The food was excellent and the ambiance/environment was very inviting. As others have written, the stafff was EXCEPTIONALLY friendly and attentive. This has easily become my favorite Indian restaurant.
As good as the food is...the staff are even better. Well trained. Eager to please.
Very freindly.
We enjoy the overall experience at this restaurant EVERY TIME we visit.
Best Indian food in the area
Unnecessarily sat us next to another couple despite a partial empty restaurant. Despite COVID-19 risk, it ruined private conversation.
Beautiful restaurant. Almost too fancy for P&R. We did the buffet. Butter chicken was not tender. Rice pudding too liquified. Overall however it was well worth the price
The Commonwealth is a beautiful restaurant and we participated in the luncheon buffet which was beautifully presented and the food was delicious!
Beautiful restaurant, great service and delicious food with an accommodating kitchen.
Food was great
It was a great experience, service, food, decor, everything I wanted to celebrate my wife's birthday!
Loved Commonwealth. Ambiance is really fabulous. Food was delicious and the staff couldn't have been nicer.
First time we had been. Beautiful space. Fantastic food. We had a lovely dinner.
First visit to Commonwealth Indian and we will definitely return. The staff was attentive and suggestive and the food was fantastic!!! Delicious flavors and eye appealing.
We've had dinner three times at Commonwealth and it is really delicious. Butter chicken, yellow dal, yellow crab curry and sag chicken are favorites. This past weekend they had a special palak chat appetizer that was amazing (beats out the version at Rasika). The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Wine and cocktail list is pretty extensive. Weekend evenings are busy and so drinks from the bar can take some time. Otherwise, service is very attentive.
Everything was wonderful—food, service, ambiance. When in the mood for Indian food, we head here. My friend snd I shared
Staff very helpful making suggestions which I followed and were delighted by! Dishes have traditional preparation, with unique touches - delicious. Would dine here again.
The restaurant is beautiful and the food is artfully presented. The only flaw was the slow service. The service was slow despite the fact there were very few diners in the restaurant. We will definitely go again. I just hope the restaurant is still in business when we do.
We had a great dinner at Commonwealth. Everything, from the service to the food to the decor, was high quality. We really enjoyed our meal and look forward to coming back!
Beautifully decorated dining rooms, with gorgeous glassware adorning wall niches. The menu includes many Indian favorites and some unique dishes. We had terrific service, and an all around wonderful dinner out as a couple. Highly recommended.
The ambience and food were great. However, the service is a bit slow. Nonetheless, would still recommend the place to people, who love Indian food.
Great experience - the food was delicious - I’d like the naan to be softer, but otherwise the flavor of the foods was great. The yellow crab curry lived up to the hype.
Excellent food at excellent prices in a beautiful restaurant served by a very professional, attentive staff.
This is a true neighborhood gem. To look at the neighborhood and outside of the building, you would think it is some chain restaurant, but every dish is like homemade, and the service is impeccable. I have been there 5 times, with groups, friends and alone...and every time it has been excellent.
I chose "yes" but it's more of a "maybe". I went for brunch, which is a great value. But! The food was cold, not lukewarm cold. Which is a shame because some of it was pretty good. The naan was brought to the table fresh and warm, but the cold food dragged it down. Also, it took forever for the waiter to get to the table and take my drink order but, to be fair, once I engaged him, he was attentive for the rest of the meal and made sure to let us know when it was last call.
The biggest annoyance was at the end of the meal when the owner (?)/manager(?) came to our table and practically threw us out, saying they needed to get ready for dinner. There was one other occupied table, plus an empty two top next to us that needed to be cleaned and set up for dinner, so we were a little baffled and annoyed. We asked if we could finish our drinks and he said "yes" but came back a few minutes later and basically said we had 10 minutes to finish up. Now, I understand having to get ready for dinner but he didn't even suggest we move to the bar; he just - politely- asked us to leave. And we were at a two top that wasn't very messy/dirty. It would have taken 5 minutes, tops, to wipe down and re-set our table. Not a pleasant end to what was an otherwise tasty, if cold, meal. If i go back for brunch I'll get there early and see what the food temperature situation is; if it's still cold, no more brunch (despite the good deal). I'd only try it again for dinner.
Excellent Indian food!
The restaurant is very elegant. A colleague and I tried the buffet lunch on a Friday and were impressed by the food on display. My favorites were the eggplant and chicken kebabs. My colleague were pleased with all the vegetarian options, the garlic naan, and the sweet pastries in syrup. The waitstaff was professional and attentive. Overall, good value and experience.
Craving for Indian Food that was more than satisfying.
The food is really very good, pleasantly complex and a good spice level. The service is very attentive and pleasant. The restaurant itself is very attractive. My only negative--if you have room for dessert, don't bother with the chocolate curry. It was basically grainy chocolate syrup. Hopefully the other desserts are more successful.
Wait staff was very friendly but the service is a little slow
The food was wonderful and the service excellent. I would recommend it to friends.
Very posh inside, real attention was paid to design and lighting. Food was great, good value for money. The only issue was with service - we counted 8 different people who stopped by our table, some more than once. Hard to have a nice dinner conversation with that many interruptions. The servers don't seem to communicate with one another or perhaps the person in charge of that is overwhelmed. It is better to have a main server who directs the others rather than a few people coming over with the same questions.
Buffet food was just ok. They will not bring you bottomless mimosa until you ask them to.
Commonwealth is a beautiful restaurant with a friendly and attentive waitstaff and delicious food. The reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is that we were waited on TOO much - we had 3 different individuals ask if we needed anything or were ready to order. Our conversation was interrupted numerous times in a short span of minutes. I really think this is attributed to the fact that the staff just want to please the customers.
The food was delicious and flavorful - the Chicken Vindaloo and Naan are amazing. A great place!
Excellent food and excellent service.
