Its just a turkey salad sandwich on a Saturday night.
We have been to Coin & Candor several times and the food & service have been exceptionally great. We enjoy sitting outside on the heated patio
We loved Coin & Candor. Everyone was so friendly... the hostesses, Francisco our waiter and the assistant manager Georg were all exceptional. We started off with cocktails... The Vodka Drink was very refreshing and the Mezcal Margarita was perfect. For starters we had the Fennel & Bell Pepper Bisque, oh so tasty and the Little Gem Salad was a great choice. My wife ended up ordering the Jidori Chicken special which Francisco highly recommended even though she had her mind on something else. She was not let down. It was perfectly crispy on the outside and so juicy. I, feeling like a steak was told I couldn't go wrong with the New York, which was amazing and with two sauces a Chimichurri Sauce and a some kind of spicy red sauce that accompanied it made it that much more. Also added on the Grilled Maitake Mushrooms, which went so well with the steak. To finish it all off... cappuccino and we couldn't decide on which dessert to share so we got two. Can't remember what they were called, but it was a Creme Brulee and the second was an amazing Apple Tart with (if I remember correctly) a scoop of Maple Ice Cream. Plus it being a birthday celebration, we ended up with a Dark Chocolate Raspberry Cake with Gold flakes which I almost finished by myself.
Loved everything and will be back for sure
If you used to come here the space has changed for the better. They made a large portion of the space a balcony to eat on which is really nice. The space and service were good. The food was average and the prices were pretty high. Not super impressed, will go back for drinks and appetizers but probably for dinner.
The food was amazing. Extremely creative dishes and well presented. Most unique food combinations with suppreb flavors. It was a little noisy, but during good weather - you can eat outside on the patio which would likely be more quiet. Service excellent. Willl definitely be returning to this restaurant. Have already talked it up to several friends.
We loved our experience. The service was extremely attentive and everything they recommended was delicious. We will definitely be coming back to try out their brunch.
Extremely disappointing. I brought my friend for lunch for her birthday. Service was slow. Salads were small. The bread we had ordered at the start of our meal came at the end. When I made our reservation I advised that we were
celebrating my friends birthday. I was handed our check without the birthday even being acknowledged.
While my friend left our table to go to the restroom, I told the hostess that no mention was made of my friends birthday by our server. The hostess had wished her a happy birthday when we arrived. The server
came back a short time later and apologized to me saying that she was busy and had forgotten.
She then brought us a lovely dessert. The best part of our afternoon was being seated looking out at the
beautiful waterfall and the pretty and delicious dessert.
The food was outstanding. We will definitely be back. However the “ambiance” music is turned up way too loud inside. It’s too bad because everything else was great. Music needs to go to 50%, all else we loved.
What a wonderful dinner. Great food. Great atmosphere. Kid friendly.
This was our first time at Coin & Candor. We have previously been to all the other Four Seasons Westlake venues. They have all been different, but all lovely. This was no exception. We sat outside overlooking the waterfall on a warm full moon evening. Our server, Zach, couldn't have been better. He was really knowledgeable , answered all our questions and made great suggestions. To be honest, I think I needed a little help interpreting all the menu options. The zucchini flowers with sorbet was a refreshing surprise, and my husband loved the heirloom tomato watermelon salad. We had some bread to start, which was really fresh and warm. The salted butter made it even better. For an entree, I would highly recommend the salmon -it just melted in my mouth. We shared grilled asparagus, that came with a yogurt sauce, which was so good. For dessert, we shared a wonderful peach cobbler with ice cream. It was not your traditional cobbler, but it was just about perfect. We were both thoroughly pleased with a delicious meal. They worked some kind of magic with unexpected flavors .
First time at the restaurant. Everything was very good, both taste and quality of food and the service.
Soup served cold. Salad dressing mostly oil, little flavor.
Fish portion originally had both filets, now only one filet.
Bread is excellent
Awesome experience!!! Thank you!
First time at Coin & Candor to celebrate my birthday with family. The food was great, we shared a bunch of different sides and main courses. I love that the ingredients are so fresh and that they come from local farms. The desserts were also incredible. Super rich and delicious!
We really enjoyed our lunch at the beautifully renovated restaurant
The bread is delicious! And the menu items are very original, healthy, and fresh.
What a great place! I would highly suggest this restaurant to celebrate any special occasion. The food is delicious and the service is wonderful. Can’t wait to come back!
Nice, atmosphere and great service at the restaurant. The food was pretty good, however not at the price point. It's to be expected inside a high end hotel. Overall, had a fun and enjoyed the evening.
We had a family brunch on a Sunday with my son who was on business in LA from London. As we live in Santa Barbara, it is a perfect spot to meet. While we have been to the Four Seasons before for this purpose the Coin & Candor is new to us and a very different look from a few years ago. The food was very good, chicken and waffles and eggs benedict and burgers. All very good. Service was attentive even thought it was very busy. The farm to table theme is still key and the food was very nice.
We will return. We did make a reservation ahead of time.
This was my first time eating at Coin and Candor. Several things on the menu stood out to me, but the Fennel and Bell Pepper soup called my name. The presentation was was very nice to start and the taste was glorious. The combo of tomato and garlic toast with the soup made it even better. I’d go back just for this. I followed with the red snapper which also very tasty. I opted for the Heirloom Corn Stew as a side. It paired well with the fish, but I wasn’t a big fan of the aioli. It was a bit too sweet for me. I could have stopped there, but dessert was calling. It was a toss-up between Pistachio Soufflé and Peach Cobbler. The cobbler won out. The flavors and texture were good, but the crumble was a bit sweet for me...and I have a huge sweet tooth. Perhaps it’s because I make peach cobbler that I’m picky about it. I’ll give the soufflé a shot next time. Oh...there will definitely be a next time.
Great atmosphere! Going with friends again for sure!
Amazing!!! Lovely food, atmosphere is very relaxing.
Open table doesn’t mention that this restaurant is at the Four Seasons hotel. The ambiance is very nice. However, the food is underwhelming. We had brunch there. My omelette was dry and a puny little salad was soaked in dressing. I expect much more.
Great service and the food was pretty good as well. The dessert was the best part. We asked to sit outside because it was so noisy inside due to a large party. They should do something with the acoustics in the restaurant.
My husband and I were looking for something quaint and elegant with outdoor ambiance. We found it at Coin and Candor. Our waitress, Kaitlin, beautifully explained the menu, answered our questions, and made outstanding recommendations. We sat on the patio with a view of the waterfalls, starting with cocktails and home milled bread before ordering our entree. We highly recommend Coin and Candor for date night. We will definitely bring friends here, the ambience of the waterfalls makes it a very unique dining experience.
This place is beautiful and the food is good just not something to write home about. For such an amazing atmosphere - I was left thinking the food would be off the charts great. With that said we enjoyed our time here. Great restaurant overall all
Service although was friendly enough, was really slow. Entrée served before clearing away salad plates, had to wait for cutlery to eat my steak, waited way to long for another cocktail to be served, etc. as far as the food, it's farm to table which can be a positive at times (not this time!) and I had a $63. Rib Eye that was less than impressive!! Looking around the restaurant you could see that there just wasn't enough serve staff, more managers and hostesses than needed on the floor which didn't make any sense. It's loud but we knew it would be before we even booked the reservation. We may return for a lunch one day because it appeared as though they had great outside seating...but this won't be a go to for a romantic dinner in the future, which is a shame because we love the Four Seasons for just that reason!
Food is good. Not great but good. Husband enjoyed the butter that came with the sourdough bread. Ordered the Snapper. Good not great. Also ordered the skirt steak. That was also good but not great. Drinks are good as well.
Love this place. I actually was a bit disappointed since being Labor Day they only had the brunch menu which I thought they had their all ay menu as well...but it was great. Chicken and Waffle was perfect. Nice place for brunch and from last time...dinner was fantastic. I'll be back.
It was delicious. It’s a very bright & open restaurant. I was there for an early lunch. I had the vegan burger & it was really good. Veggie burgers are hit & miss. I’ll definitely go back for this one. There are many vegetarian & vegan choices. Can’t wait to go back and try the other items on the menu.
Food was good but service was really bad!!!!
Great food, love the renovations
First and foremost, this restaurant, set in the middle of the Four Season Hotel, is extremely loud. There is little that dampens the noise and it is difficult to hear your dining guests... house type music sets the background in rhythmic thumps. A side note, the restaurant in its effort to be hip, seems to clash with the foundations of the buildings brick and the wood panels. The design does not marry well with the rest of the hotel. Most importantly, the food looked amazing but in the end was extremely bland... like you were ascribed a NO sodium, hospital diet. The salad appeared washed but undried with little to no dressing (and I like my dressing barely there) and super watery. The flavors seemed to clash with one another. Even the heirloom tomatoes were disappointing. Overall, the food was disappointing, the service staff was excellent and the environment was jarring. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.
We sat outside which is probably a better option than inside. Ambiance outside was nice. Service was excellent. Food was very good. Bread was lovely. Salads (little gem and mistacanza) were very good. Quality of ingredients is evident. Grilled cauliflower with mole was outstanding. My wife had shrimp and grits which she liked but the shrimp were over cooked. I had the red snapper which was also very good but slightly over cooked as well.
To sum it up - we will be back but will either try different entrees or order additional sides
Beautiful setting with options for indoor and outdoor dining. The food was very good with menu featuring many local farms. Friendly service, however, very slow. It took almost one hour to have our dinner request taken.
Great server and presentation. The service was prompt. The wood fire oven made the food delicious. Wonderful view.
The food was excellent! We really enjoyed the Cast Iron pork belly. It melts in your mouth. The red snapper was very tasty as well. But our highlight was the DESSERT! Very technical dishes. The dessert/pastry chef has a station in the restaurant so you can watch your dessert being made. We loved the pistachio souffle. It's like a deconstructed spumoni. SO GOOD. We also loved the pavolova, which is like an ice cream in an ice cream. We will be back again!
The food is amazing. We enjoyed everything we ordered. We loved the ambiance and the service was great.
