Cobb & Co Papanui
It is part of the iconic New Zealand story.
The kids who went to Cobb & Co. growing up - the ones who remember the game sheet with its little red pencil and the Pink Panther drinks - they're all grown up and are parents now; who remember Cobb & Co. with awesome childhood and family memories!
It's the good old days, it's who we are and it's what we are bringing back!
We are proud to be New Zealand's Original Restaurant & Saloon.
Food was good. Service really good and love the kids corner to keep them entertained
Surprised by additional charge for using a credit card from a large business and not being told in advanced. Tots meal unappealing and over priced for 2 little cheerios 2 carrot sticks and too much mash
I was so excited to finally get to take my children to Cobb & Co, as I was always taken to Cobb & Co as a child by my grandparents.
Sadly, it was not a great experience. The staff were friendly however the food was very bad. For my 19 month old I ordered the chicken sticks and Cobb crunchies, however what actually came out was chicken sticks and chunky chips, with no explanation why it wasn’t the Cobb crunchies. For my 4 year old he ordered the kids cheeseburger meal. Again, the Cobb crunchies were not with his meals but instead chunky chips, no explanation given for this and my son wouldn’t eat those. Also, the lettuce in his burger was so wilted and brown, I had to remove it all from the burger. I ordered the halloumi burger. It came with a large piece of halloumi, however it was sadly deep fried to the point it had no taste whatsoever of halloumi and just crunchy nothing! My partner ordered the chicken burger which upon taking his first bite, he realised was cold and informed the staff and it was taken back to the kitchen and a fresh chicken burger cooked for him. The explanation for the cold chicken was apparently because of the sauce coming from the fridge and making the chicken cold??!
To get to the end of the meal and have to pay $120 for such an awful meal was not very enjoyable! Very disappointed with how bad our experience was and really hope that things improve.
We had an enjoyable lunch with our grandchildren, the children loved the play area. Great family restaurant.
Tots meal - Very small serving of fish. The shrimp cocktail was tasteless and the fish mains (2) also lacked flavour served with a "tired" salad. The chips tho were very hot and the sundaes for the children were great. However not tempted to go again😥
Great service, the staff are absolutely amazing, fish was greasy so they gave it to us for free with a free dessert. They really stepped up and made sure we were looked after. We found it still a bit pricey even with the discount, probably too dear for a family restaurant. But, like I said, the staff are so kind and easy to deal with A+++ for them!
We enjoyed our evening but from a family friendly point of view we felt it was expensive for what it was. Great atmosphere with exceptional service but the meals were on the small side for their price point. We wouldn’t rush back purely due to cost.
Good food, and quick friendly service. A little eager to clear the table though, and it was very hot in the restaurant with no obvious air flow where we were seated. Would also be nice to have water offered for the table, but overall it was a nice evening.
A girl come and asked if we wanted dessert menus then took away half of our finished plates. She didn’t come back ( I’m guessing she finished her shift) we then waited 25mins and then went and asked for service. We got our desserts and they put them on the table along with our old dinner plates. Halfway though eating, a different lady noticed and come took the dinner plates away. Lovely lady the last one.
Amazing service and delicious food, perfect family restaurant suitable for all ages. Kids menu is outstanding offering plenty of options. Is very well priced too.
My daughter ordered fish n chips unfortunately she didn’t eat it as wen I came out there was a old cooked carrot placed on top of it??????? Weird thing to put on a kids traditional fish n chips put her off completely yuck. Also wen her ice cream sundae came out it was so hard she couldn’t eat half of it as it was rock hard ice cream I tried breaking it myself. The tatties were horrible also they were pre cooked and cold. Pretty sure they were cooked on order years ago. Overall the meals were small and not worth the price very disappointing wasn’t the Cobb and cold I remembered
Great kids menu they were very happy with the starters and desserts ! My main was beef with ham and cheese in the middle. It came out and was stone cold in the middle sent it back and changed to ribs was very happy. Got a free shrimp cocktail while I was waiting for another main
We went to the restaurant because it was my daughter's birthday. The food for my daughter was under cooked and the food for me was over coked. The manager gave us a discount but still so bad and horrible.
My wife and I last visited Cobb & Co about 30 years ago and we were looking forward to visiting your new Christchurch Cobb & Co Restaurant.
I thought the overall dining experience was good and the food in general was good.
The main meal I had was roast pork which was acceptable, however, given the price of the main I would have expected at least a bigger portion of pork (one small slice) was not adequate for a roast meal.
I do intend to visit again soon.
Great food prompt service from hen we walked through the great night
Loved the overall atmosphere, our waitress was great. Pork belly and chicken schnitzel were dry but the curly fries were absolutely delicious.
Delicious meals but found noise level in restaurant very high.
Very disappointing visit, steak was over cooked, the kids didn’t get their Cobb crunchies and service to clear table and offer deserts took forever. Even a simple request of water took asking the waitress twice before being delivered to table. We don’t normally complain but unfortunately this isn’t a place I would happily recommend to others to go dine.
Nostalgic experience. Retro decor and music playing. Food was as expected nice family meals. Good value for children and seniors menus. Great place for family's to go. Think the traffic lights have had a revamp though, I don't remember them being a slushy.
The food is well over priced for what is was and the macaroni cheese for the children was really disappointing. Just because they are children doesn’t mean care shouldn’t be taken to provide a good meal.
Did not enjoy food cold thought it was very expective for want we ordered
Was not too busy when we went and got prompt service. Staff were friendly and food was good. Kids enjoyed their meals and the colouring in. Will be going back.
Great service, lovely decor, good idea for kids area but not sure about it just being screens..
Mac n cheese was just seashell pasta with grated cheese, disappointing, my son wouldnt even eat it and he loves maccy cheese. BLT was literally just that, yummy but no fries or side salad/pickles or something.
Traffic light drinks are frozen?! No not good, and pink panther was ok, a bit average all round sorry to say. Maybe somethings were just better in the past unfortunately :(
Couldn't fault the service though, welcoming & fast/attentive.
loved our evening there with our two little grandchildren - they chose macaroni cheese which was lovely to see on the menu instead of chips and fried foods....good choice - more foods like this would be a good idea too.
Food is good and the menu has lots of variety. However the music was far too loud to hear conversations which made for an unpleasant dining experience. The wait staff also need to back off a bit, we were asked five times by three different people if we wanted to order drinks before we could decide what we wanted. Our table waiter was very nice but continuously interrupted us to see if we needed anything, which got very annoying.
Firstly we were waiting 20 mins to even get someone to take our order, because our waiter forgot about us, only after speaking to the maitre’d did we get to make our order. Then they brought our mains out before our starter. The food wasn’t great, for the price they charge I was quite disappointed. We had to ask 3 times to get some water on our table. Then we orders the donuts for desert only to get them undercooked. The only good thing about the meal was the x rated traffic lights which we’re delicious. And the only good thing about the service was the maitre’d, he was very good. It’s just a pity that a simple thing like a bottle of water at our table was too complicated for our waiter.
I had the pork meal and it had to much fat on it than meat . Vegetable were very hard swell. My husband had the schnitzel meal which he didn't like but said it was just ok. We will come back but next time we would try something else. Sorry we dont take photos not all people do this .
We all really enjoyed our meals...from the kids age 4&8 to Granny and grandads senior meal!
Staff were amazing with their service a d the food was perfect! We will definitely be back again that’s for sure🤗
Great night out, the only hiccup was that our desserts where ordered but forgotten about
We were so looking forward to reliving our childhood with our kids. But left feeling quite let down... There were elements of it but the adult meals were very expensive for a place that’s marketed as a “family restaurant.” We recently dined somewhere else with an extra adult, was $40 cheaper overall and meals were a lot nicer and bigger. I don’t normally give bad reviews but this was a very expensive meal out, that wasn’t to write home about a let down really.
We had to wait to long for our drinks and the big boy steak was not and over cooked
Will not be coming back
Just as it used to be - traffic light drinks and placemats with games. Food was well presented and good sizes. Drinks service was a a little slow and we had to ask for water for the table three times.
Wasn’t sure what the overall ambience that the restaurant was going for. As in the middle was the very cool western style stable and on another wall was a very modern wallpaper. The styles didn’t match. Was looking forward to a classic Cobb n Co but got what felt like half an effort mix of trends.
As for the food, the “thick shakes” are not thick shakes, barely a milkshake with what tasted like cheap chocolate syrup in them. The chicken burger I had was bland and wasn’t exciting, wouldn’t recommend it or get it again. The Cobb loaf was absolutely embarrassing. Was not easy to cut, crumbs went everywhere. And there was not enough garlic butter to adequately fulfill my expectations of a good garlic bread. As for another guest, they enjoyed their meal of the coconut chicken, however they felt the meal was not big enough. As for what is suppose to be a rustic style restaurant there should be the classic large servings. A side salad or something similar would have made the dish much better and more worth its price.
Waitress was friendly, but never offered second drinks... i had to get up and find someone to get another drink. Food came out and only 2 mains were up to expectations.... 2 other mains the steak was ok but ribs were cold, the steak on the scotch meal was cold and dry gave up after less than half of it.. the ribs only meal wasnt eaten at all as ribs were cold. Several waitresses seen we were not eating and not 1 came up to check on our meals.... when table was being cleared i pointed out how unhappy we were and got the generic "ill pass your comments on" went to pay for the bill and had to point out how unhappy we were at cold food....and being charged for a meal not eaten due to this...... to then be told best we can do is remove the charge for 1 rib meal..... total table spend was over 300$ and we all left unsatisfied and hungry. Extremely disappointed in our evening and how the complaint was handled
Childhood memories for the wife and inlaws here made it a brilliant experience. Staff were so helpful and although we'd a delay with one of the meals due to an accident, we all really enjoyed it. Spicy squid was awesome, Coach burger was fine, but the lemon sole fish and mash was amazing! We'll definitely return for another family birthday. A great addition to Christchurch 2.0
Was very disappointed after looking forward to our first visit. The table was wobbly and propped with cardboard but still wobbly. The drinks were good and came out swiftly. We got 2 Cobb loaves to share between each couple and they came out looking great but when cut into they crumbled massively and made such a mess. The chicken Caesar salads were very very small, we remarked how small but were told they were lunch size. They were barely side salad size let alone lunch. There was hardly any chicken and one flake of Parmesan on one and none on the other. The boys both had the coach burger one meat pattie was cooked good the other was over cooked and burnt. We were brought the desert menu but declined after our disappointment so far. We paid over $130 to leave hungry and disappointed. We won’t be back.
It was our first time there. The children’s menu had lots of variety and good for all age groups. My daughter, who is 10, reported her fish was really oily which she didn’t enjoy. I had the roast of the day which was pork. It tasted good especially the gravy but the amount of pork was very small and most of the one piece was fatty so I was disappointed with that.
Was cold inside with sliding doors. Prices a bit steap. Kids desserts tried to come out before mains. Wait staff need more and could ask if wanted more drinks
Great food and service, price a little on the high side for a family restaurant
Good restaurant kid friendly lots of tables and space
