Coal Cellar + Grill, Hilton Adelaide’s signature restaurant, is at the height of dining sophistication in the heart of the city.

With a focus on South Australian produce, the modern grill menu is a food and wine enthusiast’s playground! The menu has a balance of seafood, vegetarian and meat dishes including the show-stopping signature tomahawk steak – served with grilled vegetables and a selection of homemade sauces.

Complement your meal with a wine from the impressive glass-encased cellar, home to over 500 wine labels including bold Shiraz’s from the world famous Barossa Valley to crisp Clare Valley Rieslings!

Unique to Coal Cellar + Grill are three private dining rooms which surround the restaurant. These rooms are perfect for small private dinners to cocktail functions or working meetings.

The Lobby Lounge is the perfect setting for pre or post dinner drinks, a relaxing coffee, tapas and cocktails.

    We were seated in a lovely spot in the restaurant. The staff were very attentive without being intrusive and all our meals were well presented, good portions and very flavoursome. Excellent combination of ingredients. We took our parents for their birthday dinner and will certainly go back.

    All personnell are very eager to please, to an extent that you get two sets of steak knives from different waiters haha. My steak must have been medium rare a while before it was served, it was more on the well done side. But was very good quality with a good taste, so I didn't let it go back. The pork belly entree was excellent!

    I had a stomach ache after finishing dinner at the restaurant. I think the problem probably lies with the fresh oysters and fish

    Our first visit to the restaurant and we tried the pretheatre menu. Food quality was excellent and good value. Staff service was prompt. However there’s staff shortage with only 4 staff serving the entire restaurant. Will return again.

    The food was lovely,eye fillet and lamb tomahawk was cooked to our preference and the sides were good size,desserts were excellent.The only small downfall was a long wait for our mains to come out,picked up proactively by waiting staff so did not affect the enjoyment of the expierience. Very good and friendly staff .

    Coal is unreal. • Polite and attentive service from all staff • Beautiful for a small group or couple • Food quality is superb no matter what your preference is • Excellent wine list, but caters if you don’t want wine also • Will return, again!

    It was a bit noisy and a bit too much like a cafe than a restaurant. For the price, there should be table cloths. The service should be more attentive and appropriate cutlery should be on the table. The forgot our coffee at the end of the meal which let us down a bit. I'd highly recommend the food though. Just be prepared to pay 4.5 star prices for 3 star service and setting.
