Clark's Restaurant, Scarborough, UK
Chef owner Rob Clark born in Scarborough worked in renouned Michelin Star Restaurants such as the Star Inn, Harome and the Box Tree, Ilkley Leeds to go on to develop his unique style of dishes served at Clark's restaurant.
Outstanding food in a relaxed atmosphere with generous and welcoming service.
Friendly staff, food was good if a little over priced and wine list was poor. It wasn't very busy so I should think that there would be more atmosphere on a busy night
We saw this restaurant on trip advisers , thought that we would go and try it .
Believe me we were not disappointed, the staff we friendly and attentive with out being over bearing .
The food was delicious I had the lobster , while my friend sampled the venison, lovely .
This is not somewhere to go if you want cheap and cheerful , it is a must for all foodies !
Lovely, simple style, restaurant with a sophisticated feel. The menu is refreshingly different, and great attention is paid to presentation of the dishes. Good prices considering the quality of the food and wine.
We have dined at Clarke’s restaurant before and have enjoyed our experience each time. We would and do recommend to our friends. My husband had the halibut and enjoyed it very much but commented that the portion was a little small. Otherwise everything delicious.
Excellent food but could do with larger portions. Staff were so lovely
Good food spoilt by poor wine list.
A little pretentious
A wonderful experience, from the sincerely warm welcome to the excellent food.
Food very good my only remark would be instead of fries triple cooked chips would of been more suitable for this fine dining restaurant
We had a lovely evening . Food was really good . Staff were friendly and service excellent
We were just visitors to the town and this restaurant was an unexpected and pleasantly surprising treat. The food was imaginative, fun and incredibly good to eat. Friendly staff with a nice background “buzz” made for an excellent night. A restaurant I would make a special journey to go back too.
The food was tasty and nicely presented but the main course was extremely small and was more of a starter. We were still hungry when we left.
Scarborough’s hidden treasure, exceptional food, nice wine at reasonable prices!
I suggested the relocate to BR7, they’ll fill the place every night even if they increased their prices by 50%.
I’m not a fan of Scarborough but I’d make the effort and go back just to this restaurant!
Lovely friendly service & tasty food! Would recommend it as a nice place to eat.
In 2018 we chanced to walk past this establishment, whilst on the last morning of our annual break to Scarborough. Looking through the window we noted the outstanding presentation of the "small plates" being enjoyed by diners; an inspection of the menu further set the taste expectations "through the roof" and we made a promise to visit next year!
Last night, it was mission accomplished - and the visual feast and flavours are still fresh in our minds the following morning.....
4delectable small plates, as starters, with home baked bread; tenderloin of pork and venison as the main courses followed by an utterly divine take on rhubarb cheesecake as a dessert.
Complementary water and a very acceptable bottle of Shiraz all for under £100. I felt it was a steal for food of this standard.
Outstanding service too ....
Amazing from start to finish from the staff, food, presentation & cleanliness
Personal, professional. Food and presentation was - wow! Great for our business meeting would meet here again.
Wonderful flavours and delightfully playful presentation.
The type of food that after your first mouthful you put down your fork and pause knowing that you want this to last for many many more mouthfuls. Can't wait to go back and eat it all over again.
Just a little underwhelmed on the evening starting with 2 x different gin & tonics one supposed to be served with cucumber the other with lemon & rosemary neither came with any & on requesting the cucumber was told they did not have any! Starter was lovely not being a red nest eater found the menu a bit limited so ordered halibut x2 both felt parts of this was not completely cooked to be told it was the ‘skirt’ of the fish! (Which was why it looked undercooked & mushy) Not knowledgable enough about halibut to argue with that but was unpleasant & I left most of mine , to top it off we ordered 2 x black coffees ashes if we wanted milk but just required one small jug of cream for one of the coffees only to be charged for it, if we had both had milk surely it would have been inc! Staff very pleasant although the issue with undercooked fish could have been dealt with better Shame as we visit Scarborough regularly & wanted an alternative place to dine from our regular haunt & felt this might be it but alas maybe not Would recommend as everyone’s experience would vary & I think it was just unfortunate our choice of main course
My husband and I went with friends it was our first time and definitely won’t be our last. Everything from when arrived till when we left was a lovely experience. Our friend said it was the best lobster he had had, that’s something because he is foodie.
Super Creative Menu, we would come and war again!!
Interesting menu with a modern and creative twist to dishes. Good value, warm and attentive service. All in all a very special meal and evening.
Went on a Friday evening and it was fairly busy. We all had lobster which was cooked to perfection. The Tonka bean dessert was especially good. Great service and I would thoroughly recommend.
Delicious food, very helpful waitress, good selection of wines & gins. Good to see so many Yorkshire cheeses on cheeseboard.
Friendly greeting on arrival. Seating area split on two areas. We sat on upper level.
Food and wine of good quality and service was very good. A very pleasant evening spent. Total bill for two meals plus wine, just over £80.00.
Well worth a visit.
The food was absolutely delicious and the service was wonderful. I’ve only given a three for ambience because we were the only ones in there but it didn’t spoil it at all, like the chef said we had private dining. We booked our return visit before we left.
Excellent food and service. Friendly environment and decent prices.
You are met by lovely, enthusiastic staff with a warm smiley welcome which is always a great start. Drinks are offered quickly and there is a great selection. Menus arrive promptly and the range is wonderful. Mouth watering and innovative with out the pretentiousness of many restaurants serving this high standard of food. My Mother always taught me that you taste with your eyes first, the presentation is second to none, and each and every dish is a creative mix of flavours which do not disappoint. This is a restaurant that not just Scarborough but Yorkshire should be very proud of and can't wait to go back
My second visit and was as good as the first. Will be booking again for July.
opted for the tapas . the portions were small but delicious and beautifully presented . the cabernet frank was of good quality too . we were made to feel welcome and the service throughout was very good . clark's deserves to do well and is an asset to scarborough's dining out scene . we really enjoyed our evening , thank you .
Delicious food and great service. We will be back again and would definitely recommend
My son and myself had a lovely evening at Clark's restaurant as a Mother's Day eve. Staff were very nice, friendly, welcoming and attentive. Foods were nicely presented - I especially enjoyed starters - oyster & venison satay with scrumptious peanut sauce. I didn't drink as I had to drive but the staff lady recommended non-alcohol gin - what a great idea it was and tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed the night - thank you so much!
Fabulous food and atmosphere, service was excellent.
Very enjoyable. One of the best places I have eaten at in Scarborough.
Our first time at your restaurant and it was a very good time indeed.
Our meals were delicious and the presentation was superb.
Service was exemplary with plenty of time given to choose both what to eat and what to drink.
The only thing that (very) slightly spoilt things was that the family group who were eating on the upper level beside ourselves were so loud that I had to remove my hearing aids.
That, however, did not marred our evening to any great extent.
We both look forward to returning on our next visit to Scarborough.
Best wishes to yourself and your staff.
Lovely evening. Really enjoyed the food and service was fantastic too
Great little restaurant food of very high quality had the Halibut..best ive tasted! Cater for gluten free..bonus although could do with having some gluten free bread and a few more vegetables. Highly recommend beats the Lanterna down the road.
Lovely meal. Excellent tapas, different flavours. Mains were good too.
what a lovely evening meal I had on my birthday, lovely staff very friendly and the chef comes to see you after the meal to get your verdicts, I have to say the tapas were very well presented and the steak & lobster were cooked to a very high quality, all I can say about the deserts is you only can manage one, all in all the flavours produced were a credit to the staff,
thankyou for a lovely evening.
Nice restaurant with great food
